I know we've all got head cannons for what stuff does on FR. I got to thinking with some of my Arcane buddies and some of their friends from other Flights, about some of the more specific things that go on in FR. What does each breed specifically do, behave and such in each flight? We started thinking of some of the greatest ideas, but of course, we need something for every flight.

Thus, I look unto you, Flight Rising, to help us create a one stop source for this kind of head cannon. What I hope to achieve is having at least one amazing head cannon listed for every breed, for every Flight. There are only a few guidelines though:
  • No previous head cannon will be replaced with a new one. Each one will be listed under each breed.
  • You may add on to an already existing cannon!
  • Please keep it appropriate of course!
  • Feel free to take your own Flight list into your own Private Flight forums, and fill it out and bring it back here! Remember to link back here in your post so you don't lose the thread. ^^
  • Please don't dismiss another person's head cannon. We're all in it together here folks! Positive feedback. ^^

Please ping me when you have something you would officially like added to the thread, especially if you have taken a list for yourself. I'll be sure to edit it as soon as possible! I will also have a document saved on my computer as back up, just in case something happens to the thread.

Arcane
Coatl Dragons

Fae Dragons: Fae have brooms that they use to shoo away dragons that are interfering with the inner workings of the observatory. Given Windsinger's presence since the Battle of the Bay, they often work in teams to try to keep the noodlegod from dragging Arcanist out into the sunlight.

Guardian Dragons: Arcane Guardians create low or zero gravity zones if they are away from water, and then other dragons come strolling on by and they get vaulted up in the ceiling because they are much lighter, thus need to do this in a completely padded room.

Imperial Dragons

Mirror Dragons: There are two jobs these guys have: one is they usually food experiment, which has resulted in the Avocado Sushi Roll Burger and the Venus Flytrap All-you-can-eat Salad Bowl. With a warning label to eat it before it eats you. The other one is spending time experimenting with the best ways to confound prey in order for more efficient hunting. So far the best method is having a small distraction group of three to five dragons, all of one specific gender performing synchronized movements that resemble 90s boy band dancing. No one will confirm if this was because a Mirror lost a bet with Spacedad or not.

Pearlcatcher Dragons: They know all your secrets. Specialise in any kind of magic that might provide them with juicy tidbits of gossip.

Ridgeback Dragons: Try writing runes with their spikes but the males get dust in their nose and sneezed magic on their work and then that caused some small explosion that makes everyone panic and think Spacedad is almost ending the world by accident again. This is because they are trying to create an entire ecosystem of flying sealife so they can have seafood without getting wet. They refuse to use levitating aquariums.

Skydancer Dragons

Snapper Dragons: They are librarians, constantly grumping at anyone who messes up their careful work at keeping Spacedad's endless notes and observations in order.

Spiral Dragons: Spin around and act like hover cars with dark colours but have one bright colour to look cool, or for those who really want to try and generate something, attempt to move around at speeds high enough to attempt to generate a black hole. Most of the time the Arcanist disapproves of these practices for not having the correct safety equipment around and or lack of matter/antimatter.

Tundra Dragons: Tundras have fur that reacts to magical fields the way most fur responds to electrostatic fields, resulting in perpetual poofballs that discharge arcane energy in their tertiary color when they bump into things. Some enterprising dragons have them act as mobile magical batteries.

Wildclaw Dragons

Fire
Coatl Dragons

Fae Dragons

Guardian Dragons

Imperial Dragons: Their whiskers spontaneously combust into flame on occasion. Each breed reacts differently to this however, with most Imperials being indifferent to it or even downright not noticing it, and most Pearlcatchers getting highly flustered and embarrassed; of course, reactions are based on individual personality as well.

Mirror Dragons

Pearlcatcher Dragons: Their whiskers spontaneously combust into flame on occasion. Ridgeback Dragons

Skydancer Dragons: They put on intricate dances where they twirl and swoop in the air, and spin around on the ground, all the while their feathers are alight. Some Skydancers do this to entice a mate, but most just use it to entertain their clanmates when it's night, and it's easiest to see the embers flying off of them.

Snapper Dragons

Spiral Dragons: The Spirals in holiday colours act as neck warmers during the cold season. All other ones add on additional apparel to make sure each and every head is the toastiest it can be. Granted the head and neck of the receiver of such kindness has a good sense of balance.

Pearlcatcher Dragons: Know everything that is, was and will be worth gossiping about.

Ridgeback Dragons: Prefer to stay on the beach and imagine what it'd be like to go in the water without ever touching it.

Skydancer Dragons

Snapper Dragons

Spiral Dragons: Pool noodles that can double as inner tubes and you're just chillin' in the pond with a bright eye burner and a pink lemonade. They help the new hatchlings who can’t swim yet, learn how to swim. The most mischievous Spirals, like creating whirlpools, of which is only stopped by someone making laundry threats to the these dragons so that the aquatic vortexes cease. Their spin cycle is that good.

Tundra Dragons: Have Shamwow like fur and just hug other dragons dry when they’re wet and cold. They also act as really good sponges. Sometimes they must shower themselves in specific washes so that they don’t ruin someone’s bath time.

Pearlcatcher Dragons: Pearlcatchers categorically deny rumors that their pearls were initially stolen from the Tidelords' oyster beds, are the secret component in the Boss' perpetual motion device, or will someday synchronously explode to create widespread nuclear devastation.

Ridgeback Dragons: The first Ridgeback dragon was a happy accident. The Boss set out to build a mining machine. He couldn't help adding spikes ...and more spikes... and then an intern tripped on their own tail and fell into the intricate web of machinery and magic that had been left open for construction. The Stormcatcher is said to have bellowed "Ah-hah!" and slammed the hatch shut. The rest is history.

ETA: The horn on a male Ridgeback's nose was supposed to be a drill for taking core samples. Unfortunately, the trait was not genetically stable and it's now vestigial.

Skydancer Dragons

Snapper Dragons

Spiral Dragons: They are constantly shocking themselves on things, be it a Lightning Tundra's magnetic field or attempting to be replacements to damaged electrical wire, because someone is always mentioning it's a good idea.

Maddest of the mad scientists. Will experiment on anything and everything that moves, or looks like it might move if tampered with. But they never remember to write down the results, so such experiments are often repeated over and over much to the dismay of clanfellows.

Tundra Dragons: Rave fur. Their fur is staticy and all sorts of raving colours. All the static electricity is their Tertiary colour. This was caused by electricity generation of rubbing balloons on all of the first generation Tundras. Everything sticks to them. Lightning tundras are attached to a Velcro vest when Stormkeeper wants to go talk to Icewarden, to ensure he stays toasty warm. They use their Exalt Cannon for it.

The others live like Mirrors all over the world do, in rowdy, violent packs that gain and shed members as they run through the ruins. The two groups do not get along well.

Pearlcatcher Dragons

Ridgeback Dragons: The Indiana Joneses of the Flight Rising world. As a whole they love borrowing from the ruins just as much as from living dragons, which, uh, irritates the more archaeological-minded dragons trying to study things in context. A small portion of them work to keep artifacts in their proper contexts, and instead borrow data from their fellow archaeologists.

Earth Faes (or any earth mages, for that matter) have the abilities of Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender. No questions asked.

Fire Skydancers put on intricate dances where they twirl and swoop in the air, and spin around on the ground, all the while their feathers are alight. Some Skydancers do this to intice a mate, but most just use it to intertain their clanmates when it's night, and it's easiest to see the embers flying off of them.

The tips Fire Imperials and Fire Pearlcatchers whiskers spontaneously combust into flame on occasion. Each breed reacts differently to this however, with most Imperials being indifferent to it or even downright not noticing it, and most Pearlcatchers getting highly flustered and embarrased; of course, reactions are based on individual personality as well.

((Also, you put the Plague/Lightning Spiral mad scientist headcannon in the Plague/Lightning Pearlcatcher area, BTW))
