I could defiantly see hm as a traveling merchant or tradesman. Kind like a booth at the renaissance he could sell and trade bone-related or plague related things (like bone candleholder or/and styled necklaces with little ribs and ores from his flight), wanting to give some of his culture and heritage to the Tangled Wood.
He does take pride in his craft!
