Tattered papers flutter across a hollow, dark cave, drifting away from the insides before they wrap around your ankle. They're old newspapers, which are soggy and yellowed with age, and upon inspection the headline reads: GROUP KILLED IN CAVE-IN.
The paper had come from the makeshift miner camp, inside the new bunker that had been built, which allows extended trips to loot out ancient caves and surface precious ores. You were assigned to mine, resurface, and then delve deep again, selling your profits for whatever suits your interest.
As you pick up the paper and scan its contents, it describes the tragic tale of a group of miners, who somehow all ended up dead following a tragic landslide. The miners, from the same company, had a sturdy bunker where they could've been shielded from the fall, but none made it in time. Instead, the rocks closed over their heads, shutting out the last traces of sunlight they would see.
A few clacks of rocks falling. Earth hisses as it falls to the floor.
Behind you, the growing murmur of concern and panic fills the air, and you toss the paper back to the filthy floor, turning to brief the situation behind you.
Pure darkness cloaks the cave. Hollow, airy noises sigh from within its walls.
What did the other miners see before they died?
As the dust settles from the recent cave-in behind you, your mining party, a group of thirty, looks to the pile of rubble blocking the exit, and realizes they suddenly became hopelessly trapped.

Welcome to Lights Out II.
This is a take on my old mafia-style forum game, Lights Out, but this time, directed in a slightly different way. The basics: different characters, different story... same setting, same idea. The idea of the game is mainly survival, but many factors will hinder this plan.
You are part of a mining party, which has traveled deep underground in search of precious valuables. However, upon entering the target cave, the entrance and entire tunnel behind you collapses in a massive landslide, blocking your only means of escape.
As with any old, ancient cave, it's the burial ground of many inhabitants. Their bones are kept in the cave's immense, empty chambers, but sometimes, they awaken from their rest.
For whatever reason, something awakens these spirits. Ghosts are never the best to keep around, but in this old, haunted cave, there are many to be disturbed. This cave-in, caused by mining instability, has roused a series of ghosts. Two are awake upon entry of your party, but only one is your friend.
The other ghost is a disturbed, malevolent demon, who has taken your party members under their control. Mindless puppets they have become, they are out to stealthily pick off the intruders, one by one, before targeting the rest of the ghosts themselves.
This evil creature has yet to show their face, but the mining party has much to fear.
--
The game will have 30 miners (7 antagonists, 3 neutrals, and the rest are innocents), as well as eight ghosts, which will unlock for you over time. [s]However, if more than 25 players want to join, I may consider bumping the number of miners up to 30.[/s] It will now be 30 players accepted!
The basics of the game revolve around finding and picking off your rival alignment, solving clues and puzzles, and discovering the ghosts that inhabit your cave. Every ghost is different, and some are more willing to help than others, but most will provide some sort of aid.
Please PM me if you have any questions!

In every roleplaying game, there are roles that the players are presented with to further progress the game. The Possessed are the main antagonists while the Miners, or the innocents, are the protagonists. There are several neutral roles that can choose which side they want to help, but that is purely optional.
Please note that I don't choose the roles, I let a random number generator decide who gets what power. All roles are purely coincidental if they happen to cooperate with your dragon's personality.
Possessed
You are the puppets.
-----
The Possessed were claimed by the malevolent ghost to carry out tasks used to rid the cave of the miners. Possessed retain a small amount of sentience and can make decisions on their own, but only to blend in and vanish under the watchful eye of the innocents.
Possessed cannot kill each other, but they can protect and swap each other's roles as well as vote for each other during lynches.
Disciple
A special role, you are in charge of the Possessed, when the spirit isn't around. Every three nights, you can summon nighttime to come 24 hours earlier, as long as you message me before the Nightlight does.
Fiend
A large portion of the demon's power was given directly to you, thus making you much stronger than your friends. You can kill one dragon per night.
Puppeteer
A mastermind of the art, you can switch any two dragon's roles every night. Please be aware that this power can only be used on two Prey/Neutrals or two Beasts, and cannot switch the roles of an innocent/neutral and a killer to avoid game havoc.
Stalker
Every night, you can either use a dragon's role or investigate them to discover their role. If you choose to use a role power, you can only use it once. You cannot use a fellow Possessed's role power. In order to make sure that your investigative power works correctly, you must first target the Nuisance.
Healer
Every night, you can shield a dragon of your choice (besides yourself) to repel all attacks and investigations. Every 3 nights, you can either use this power or raise a dragon from the dead, while turning them into a Possessed. The revived dragon will randomly receive a dead Possessed's role, UNLESS the Transporter has used all the roles of the dead Possessed.
Cryptid
Every night, you can protect a fellow Possessed and hide any clues left by them. However, you have a 50% chance leaving a clue that pinpoints yourself.
Buffer
This dragon has the power to completely block a dragon's role power for the night, rendering it useless for the player targeted.
Predator
Counterpart to the Prey, you are a roleless Possessed, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. You can escape one lynch vote.
Miners
You are the vigilant innocents.
-----
The Miners are the fearful innocents of the game, who are targeted by the Possessed. They remained unchanged upon entry of the mine, but that doesn't mean you won't escape unscathed.
Miners can kill, heal, and protect each other, as well as vote during the day. They can use their powers on anyone.
Prey
Counterpart to the Predator. You can escape one lynch vote and you can shield a dragon from all attacks every night.
Sentinel (2)
Once a night, you can target a dragon and keep watch over them. You will be notified if they use their role power that night, but the details of their power will remain secret.
Medium
Every night, you can receive a message from the dead, only if they decide to send one. However, some nights, when the dead are quiet, you may pick up bits of the living's conversations...
Detective
Every night, you can investigate a dragon and get a clue on their role.
Watchful
Every night, you can investigate a specific role and gain a clue on which dragon(s) has that role.
Ethereal
Every night, you can protect yourself and dodge all attacks. You only get 4 dodges, but you can escape lynching at the cost of a dodge.
Divided
Every night, you can either fall victim to an attack or you can survive and place a marker on the dragon that only you can notice, thus framing your attacker. You are not in control of this power, but there is a 50/50 chance either role will activate that night.
Transporter
Every two nights, you can revive a random dead dragon's role and give it to a roleless dragon. You will not know who receives the role, and it can be of any alignment.
Necromancer
Every three nights, you can raise a dragon from the dead, giving them a randomly chosen Miner or Neutral role from another dead dragon.
Nightlight
Every three days, you can extend the day by 24 hours. However, you must message me before the Disciple in order for this to work.
Scout
This dragon can sneak around the bunker every night, and if need be, will force a dragon to sleep through the whole night, rendering their role useless until morning.
Zombie
If you are killed or lynched by a fellow innocent, at night, you can (only once) come back to life briefly and kill any dragon. However, if you're killed by a Possessed or a neutral power, then you can cast one vote that equals three, only once while you're dead.
Roleless (6)
You have no role and no power to use, but your chance of receiving a role is heightened by your activity in the game. You can still participate normally and you can still be protected.
Neutral
You are both.
------
Neutral roles are roles that benefit neither side and are typically a category on their own. They can be targeted by both the Miners and the Possessed, as some roles help one side more than the other.
Neutral roles can attack each other as well as any other player. If a neutral power happens to win the game, the win will go to the last surviving non-neutral role.
Clumsy
You have a hidden supply of small swords, so you can kill one dragon a night. However, there's a 33% chance that you'll trip on your blades, killing you instead.
Nuisance
Your job is to make things difficult for both sides. You can prevent the Stalker from working properly and you are also able to formulate false clues. If you target the Stalker, you can prevent them from finding a dragon's role. If you decide to create false clues, they will point to someone random, but they will have a flaw in their evidence. You can use either power every night.
Decorated

A dragon of many talents, you have decided to use an arsenal of different weapons to dispose of suspects. You can kill one dragon every night, but you only have three weapons to use, which break afterwards and cannot be used again. One will leave more clues that pinpoint to you (making you appear as a Possessed), one will alert someone of your whereabouts in the night, and one will show the Possessed who you are (if they decide to spare you, however, you may have a benefit...).

Rules
-----
Read them before posting your application. You'll need to!
1. If you are inactive for over 5 real-life days (without notice) I may kill off your dragon. I will give you a warning first, but if you feel that you are finished playing, I will remove your dragon from the game by request (though this is highly discouraged!).
2. I will keep this up-to-date as much as I can and I will let everyone know if the game will ever take a short hiatus! I have intense marching band schedules as well as multiple health problems that may interfere, oh, by the way, read the rest, but put your favorite color somewhere in your post so I know you read this, with my posting frequency, so I will let everyone know if something comes up. I will have to take a few days off due to band camp, but the game may just end up being updated only in the later hours of the day.
3. No harassment or insults OOC. In character, it's definitely fine, but just don't take it too far.
4. Remember- it's just a game. Please don't get upset at anyone if you die or if other things happen.
5. PLEASE do not change your dragon's appearance withuout consulting me! Clues are mainly based off the familiars, apparel, personality, and genes/colors of the dragon! Changing this is counted as cheating and if you change it too often I will have to disqualify you.
6. NO excessive mass pings. Mass pings are only used for important discoveries or important accusations, not everyday speaking. You can ping me anytime, but I ask you to only ping me when your dragon does something, such as actual questions or interactions with the environment / characters. Bold or highlight your questions/actions in a way so that I will know to answer them. Let me know if you want removed from my mass ping list when I post.
7. Rules may change as needed.

Rules

Eesthe: A rather shy Wildclaw, he's taken up the big responsibility of guiding the mining party. Though it's a lot on his shoulders, he tries his best to protect the group from the threats of the ancient cavern, and is really just a big softie when it comes to the miners. He doesn't really mind being a ghost, but finds his return a little frightening, especially when a malevolent spirit is hot on his tail.

Their friendship fell out as the years went on, so now, Kjorsa isn't opposed to helping the miners, but doesn't exactly enjoy their presence. A bit of information about your dragon: Chrysolite can be describe as a bit eccentric. He blabs about being an anime protagonist and a lot of obscure terms. Even with his rather unique goals and thoughts, he's a jolly and helpful coatl that often promises to protect others (but ends up accidentally hurting them himself) He tends to get into a lot of trouble, too. Lady luck doesn't seem to like this coatl. Oh, and his favorite color is red, but mine is blue. He's clumsy and annoying, sure, but he has good intentions and is always up for adventures.
