Line 1 parasites pass the virus on to all the hatchlings from their nest, so you've done the right thing.
The hatchlings will all continue the virus 1 lineage since that is their family line.
And yes, you've got it right. The aim is to spread the parasites around, but once they've left your lair they're on their own. You don't have to follow up at all.

I received a dragon of lineage 1 and he had 3 hatchlings. How do I know which ones have the virus or not? Do I randomly choose or there's a right amount? Do I have to keep one in my lair?
