Unfortunately, not all dragons were created equal. Although the exact formulas will remain hidden, here is an in depth strategy guide to choosing the right dragon. Average statistics for each breed will follow. You are in no way required to know any of this - it's just optional for those who want to maximize their chances of winning. [center][b]What Makes a Great Athlete[/b][/center] A dragon's athletic skill is based upon six main statistics: [u]Pace[/u] The pace of your dragon indicates how fast it is when running. Your dragon's natural pace is determined by its kg/m length with respect to its size. The less weight your dragon has relative to its length, the faster it is able to move. However, small dragons such as fae have to move much more quickly than larger dragons to cover the same distance. This attribute is used in the 500m Dash, 10km Race, and 1km Hurdles. [u]Leap & Jump[/u] The leap of your dragon indicates how far it can leap and glide horizontally, while the jump of your dragon indicates how high it can jump vertically. Your dragon's natural leap and jump are very similar stats, both being determined by kg/m wingspan with respect to size. Dragons with larger wings proportionally to their weight can travel further without flapping or touching the ground. However, like with pace, larger dragons don't have to move as fast to travel as far. These attributes are used in the Long Jump, High Jump, and 1km Hurdles. [u]Throw[/u] The throw of your dragon indicates how far it can toss various types of objects. Your dragon's natural throw is determined by its kg/m length with respect to size, however, unlike in the previous examples, the more weight per length, the better. Big, bulky dragons can toss things much further than small, slender dragons. This attribute is used in the Boulder Toss, Javelin Throw, and Discus Throw. [u]Special Pace[/u] The special pace of your dragon is much like the pace, but it is for special travel, such as swimming and flying. Your dragon's natural special pace is determined by its kg/m wingspan with respect to size. Just like in pace, lighter dragons move more quickly, but unlike pace, the dragon's wing length is more important than its length. Big flappy wings are good for sky travel and can also be used as fins in the water. Unfortunately, your snapper will probably struggle with these sorts of events. At least there is a consolation prize for Sornieth's worst athlete that may catch your attention. This attribute is used in the 1km Flight and 2km Swim. [u]Endurance[/u] So far, it seems like bigger has been better - but that's not always the case! Larger dragons tire more quickly than smaller dragons. While this doesn't make much of a difference in shorter events, it can really put a damper on your athlete in a longer event like the 10k run. This attribute is used in every event. It's a bit of a game-changer in that it attempts to level the playing field between large and small dragons. [u]Randomness[/u] Ah, yes, the RNG, our good friend. It's a pretty hefty player in the entire process. A good dragon increases your odds, but even the best dragons have bad days. Most stats can be modified by plus or minus 50% to add a bit of variation into a dragon's events. So even if you spend all day figuring out the "perfect" athlete, you still have to rely on quite a bit of luck. [center][b]Average Breed Statistics[/b][/center] These are the stats of the AVERAGE member of each breed. This would be a perfectly proportional example. Obviously there is a ton of variation within a breed, so it's not necessarily the most useful. As you can clearly see, not all breeds are created equal. My best guess of breeds from most to least likely to win overall is: Imperial > Ridgeback > Coatl > Wildclaw > Mirror > Pearlcatcher > Nocturne > Guardian > Spiral > Tundra > Skydancer > Snapper > Fae *Disclaimer: This event in no way reflects the realistic athletic abilities of the dragon breeds.
