The nocturne pauses and looks over at Scorpio. "Hey! Mister Scorpio? I was wondering if you could tell us more about this Renascentia thing? Or the Signs? Or the Constellations? Or anything, really."
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-19:
The RENASCENTIA are a group of dragons who are dedicated to ensuring that the soul shards of the Signs ascend into the heavens where they belong.
The Signs, or Horoscopes, are cosmic deities - not unlike our draconic deities - that possess immense power, which they share amongst the dragons of this land. Each dragon, and creature, born in this world obtains a wisp of this power the moment they are born, and depending under which cycle of the moon, and the seasons they come into this world, that is what determines many things about them: personality, fate, future, even their downfall.
The... Constellations are still cosmic beings, but... they aren't as powerful as the Signs are - or rather would be.
This festival of the cosmos is a send-off for the holders of the soul shards of the Signs, and it will end with their bodies of flesh and blood being cast away while their souls return to their rightful place amongst the cosmos.

'So, Signs are magical things inside dragons, you help them 'ascend', fine. I don't understand it but fine. What does this have to do with us? Why are WE here?'
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-19:
Honestly, it depends on why you're here. Maybe you just wandered here while traveling from here to there, maybe you accepted the invitation, maybe you have a destiny. Or... you could be the host of one of many Signs and their soul shard, then you'd be our honored guest and eventually ascend into the heavens. Or maybe you just like my cooking.
Stanari wrote on 2015-12-19:
Eris tilts her head. "Why are we supposed to beware the constellations?" She idly picks up a balloon and examines it. "And what's with all these balloons, anyway?"
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-19:
The Constellations are rumored to be... corrupt. They are out for vengeance against the Signs for not being able to participate in the ceremony of ascension and join their former cosmic brothers and sisters in the heavens.
However the Constellations lack of participation in the ascension ceremony is probably their greatest strength. They've been allowed to forge power in their blood and flesh vessels, and by now have gathered together and know what their vessels look like.
I cannot speak about this advantage for the Signs. Their ascension is their greatest weakness, but largest milestone. Unlike the constellations they are unaware of who their cosmic brothers and sisters are, and have not had the time or experience to foster their cosmic abilities.
The balloons? I believe they are an idea thought from the mind of our devious storytelling fae, August. He claims that he came across a celebration where the inhabitants listed balloons into the sky to honor their fallen loved ones, and to celebrate the coming new year.
Although, the balloons themselves came from the Windsinger's domain, and I can hardly believe we have this much. When August said that he'd 'take care of it', I'd never imagined this much. If you ever come across to him, why don't you ask him how he got all of them? They seem to be never ending, and I'm not sure who's responsible for setting them up.

"Well they were Skydancers. Male and Female. One looked like a tree with a lot of scars and glasses. The other was dark blue with pink wings and wearing lots of silks. Are there more dragons hiding in the balloons? Are there going to be fun activities for us to do or are we just suppose wait here killing each other off?"
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-19:
That sounds like Rose and Ginoza. There's probably a red colored fae wondering around, but I wouldn't be worried about him. He's harmless, mostly. Unless you're a gullible sort of dragon. In the future, we'll be planning some activities for all of you to enjoy, but for today, just get to know one another.

"You say that the Signs are meant to reunite with the heavenly bodies; does this mean they have to die in order to accomplish their goal? I thought Signs want to remain alive through the festival!" Maashu implores the Nocturne for answers.
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-19:
The ascension ritual does require that the hosts of the Signs' soul shards discard their bodies of flesh and bone, but it is painless and the host's soul ascends into the cosmos as well. The only exception to the ascension ritual not being painless is if a dragon stepped into the cosmic fire before the time for ascension arrived.

"Hey speaking of familiars, will they be able to help us while we're playing this game? Is there anything important for us to know regarding our familiars? Can they come with us when we ascend or...will we have to leave them behind?"
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-21:
No, I am afraid that familiars are off limits amongst the festival. They will not be able to ascend along with the hosts either, my sincerest apologies.

Rose opens her claw and reveals tiny fragments in the very center of her palm. It's hard to tell what exactly they are, maybe they're scales, maybe they're armor, maybe they're something else? Who knows?
The tiny fragments are quite darkly colored: perhaps black? No, maybe a dark violet? Couldn't be - maybe a royal navy?
Bah, why are there so many colors in the rainbow?!

Throat has several small yet clean looking slanted gouges in it. Despite how deep and clean the gouge is, I am unable to decipher if it was made by a weapon or claws. Number of gouges: 4 - Unsure if the number of gouges actually equals the number of toes the perpetrator has.
The victim's eyes are shut - a sign that she was asleep at the time.
No other evidence was found.
Detroness wrote on 2015-12-26:
Victim has been slain in a particularly brutal fashion. Reminds me of how cruel hatchlings will hunt a snake and then tear it apart segment by segment.
The body has been split into 16 segments and even the limbs - and yes, even the head - have been ripped from the torso.
Looked over the corpse multiple times, but was unable to definitively say if the spiral died from dismemberment and following blood loss/shock, or if another wound was responsible. There was no other wound found.
Unsure if one dragon is responsible or many; most likely many though. It is easier since it would be a group effort.
Besides the head and limbs, all other segments bear teeth marks of various sizes. Most definitive and common sizes were:
- Bite marks that were two or three feet long - 12 total counted; could mean that the owner's or owners' of these jaws did much of the work: teeth marks looked evenly deep across all bite marks in this category: shape - long but bulky
- Bite marks that were barely a foot long - 3 total counted; very distinctive teeth marks left: prominent teeth on lower jaw left a deeper gouge than the rest - identical across all three - most likely a common trait amongst the owner or owners' of these jaws: shape - somewhat a triangle
- Bite marks that were a foot and a half long - 1 counted; similar to two/three foot bite marks but slightly wider: teeth marks looked evenly deep across all bite marks in this category: shape - semi long and bulky
Note: Severely doubt that the number of teeth marks recorded in each size category correlate to actual number
