Find a Dragon

That in itself was not uncommon, as packs tend to wear a place out, but this time, something was different. Normally, they could take off in any direction and stay somewhere else for a while until time renewed the land they left behind. But this time, whichever way they went in the Wasteland, all they found was more spent land, and more Mirrors on the same hunt as they were. The clan made a brave decision based on what they’d learned - they would venture far from home, to see what lay beyond the Plagebringer’s boundaries, in hopes of finding new places to stay until things changed for the better. Naturally, they picked up a few more packs along the way to the border, and off they went together into the wide unknown. Some settled into vacant territories they found and began new families, but others forged onwards, driven by a desire to find better, better, best territory, and others found themselves possessed by the spirit of adventure. On these dragons went, experiencing everything Sornieth had to offer. Some of those left at home caught wind of the mission and decided to follow the first voyagers’ footsteps. What began as a scent trail became a beaten footpath. By the time the original explorers returned home, having completed a full circuit of the globe, it was a road, and their journey had been dubbed the first migration.[/size] [/columns] [columns][size=5]Traveling the road to experience the same sights and struggles as the first became a tradition initially undertaken by Mirrors, who brought their hatchlings along to teach them the strength and stamina they’d inherited from their ancestors. Landmarks used to mark the trail became monuments to the migration, scarred from thousands of dragons leaving their marks on these signposts for future dragons to see too. As travel between regions became more common, other species picked up the practice after immigrating to the Wasteland. Dragons from other places became curious about the path that wound through their own homes and the stories relayed to them by their relatives now living in Plague. Tracing the path of the first migration became a popular way to experience Sornieth for dragons of every breed and age. It’s most frequently undertaken in spring, when weather across the world is mild. There’s the expected family of Mirrors, slinking through the crowd, one parent giving a lecture, but they pass through the shadow of a gaggle of towering Guardians and Ridgebacks chatting excitedly about what they hope to see. Over there looks to be an entire clan getting under way, and here there’s a harried-looking Tundra in a scoutmaster’s uniform trying and failing to take a headcount on a large group of hatchlings each sporting a cap declaring ‘I’m a G1!’ But with all the excitement, there is also a sense of danger - knowing that the migration trail is a test of survival, pitting one's strength against beasts encountered in the wild, especially the largest and most fearsome of these beasts, the most difficult to fight.
