[color=#466353]Cedric's egg was found in an abandoned Earth Nest on the border between the Viridian Labyrinth and Dragonhome, just as he hatched, by the leaders of a small Nature clan called Bronze Willow. He grew up with them in their town in the Shrieking Wilds, learning magic from various members of the town as all of their young ones did.
But he was different from the others. It was not just his brown eyes that set him apart from them, but the metallic red swirls and green gemstones that were laid into his skin. No one in his adopted clan had ever seen anything like it before.
As he became older, Cedric found that he was a natural at all types of magic he attempted, and he was particularly gifted at nurturing and healing types of magic. But nothing seemed out of the ordinary until an incident while learning to nurture plants in the village garden revealed his abilities to be much more impressive than his peers, and everyone discovered that Cedric's gemstones glowed when he cast particularly powerful spells. Cedric had already been teased by the other young dragons in the clan, but that teasing turned into taunts, sneers, and gossip from some of the adults in the clan as well as the younger generations.
Unable to take the derision, Cedric ran away. He lived on his own in the wilderness of the Shrieking Wilds, studying magic from the few books he took with him. That is, until he met Alder, a Skydancer with the same "mutation" (as her family had called it). Also sick of being an outcast, she had abandoned her family in the Sea of a Thousand Currents and set out to explore Sornieth.
It was while out gathering one day that Cedric came across Alder, just after she was attacked by a herd of Centaurs and other Beastclans who had been causing trouble for dragons in the area for years. She nearly died, but Cedric nursed her back to health. He admired her for her adventurous spirit and tenacity, and she admired his devotion to his learning and his reverence for all living things. They decided to explore Sornieth together, searching for the origins of their strange appearance and their powerful magical abilities.
They would find during their travels that their Filigree allowed them to store excess magic, and served as a conduit that allowed them to access elemental energy around them more easily. It also allowed them to use sources of elemental magic and cast elemental spells that did not align with the element of their birth.
The two of them raised many hatchlings together over the course of time, and while all of their descendants became great at using magic, only those with the Filigree retained the traits Cedric and Alder were most known for. Their excess energy stores and their ability to use any elemental magic source.[/color]

However, ultimately, the offspring of your descendant are yours to sell or do with as you please! You can sell them in AH, post them in your hatcheries, give them away, whatever you want. Of course, I would like for all of the dragons to go to loving homes and have all of them go to people who will register them and keep the lineage going, but I cannot control what anyone else does and neither can you. Again, I cannot control what you do, but I ask that descendants who are born with Filigree not have this gene changed for lore reasons. Anything else goes! For instance, because of Alder's backstory in which she's the first of her family to have Filigree (which they call a mutation) I am changing at least one gene in each of the offspring I am keeping.

[center][color=#466353][i]As mysterious as the Filigree is in itself, its full effect on the dragons of the lineage was not discovered until generations after Cedric and Alder’s first children. The Filigree is not always inherited by offspring of the lineage, and in some bloodlines, a nest that contains no offspring with this trait marks the end of that line. The offspring of that last nest inherit an extraordinary amount of power, despite their lack of the Filigree. As this last clutch matures and their powers come into bloom, their direct ascendants fall weak or ill as their magic leaves them, and they eventually perish.
This fate seems to affect only a small number of lines through the generations of Cedric’s offspring, and dragons in other branches of the Lineage are not affected by the end of a bloodline.[/i][/color][/center]

If anyone else wants to adhere to this tidbit of lore, they are free to do so, however, I included it here instead of in the first post because it is absolutely not necessary.
