The Hunted[/b] Blood was the proof of life. Anyone without blood was believed to be a monster. These creatures were infamously known as [i]Corruptus sanguis[/i] otherwise called as Corrupted Blood. They were called corrupt because unlike normal dragons, magic ran in their veins and not blood. Their ‘blood’ was not of red, but it glowed of a different hue unique to each of the species. They possessed powers of which limits were unknown. Due to this, their very existence was a sin to most. The origin of this species was unknown. Legend has it that is was created by a power-crazed witch who harnessed a forbidden dark magic. She allegedly created life out of dark magic which resulted in the creation of a powerful bloodline. Some scientists, however, argued that this species was due to a unique and rare mutation. There are many theories whether scientific or superstitious that attempts to explain the existence of this species, but one thing is for certain: these creatures are not natural to this world. The Corrupt were believed to be dangerous by many due to their magic, but in reality, they were peaceful creatures preferring to stay away from others not of their own kind. [/columns] [columns][size=4] Long ago, a clan of Corrupt thrived in peace. Unfortunately, due to the stigma against their existence, dragons of this bloodline were continuously persecuted by dragons who were against their existence. Once killed, their ‘magic blood’ was harvested and used experimental, alchemical, and medical purposes. As a result, their numbers eventually dwindled until they became rare. It came to a point that they were believed to be extinct. Little did anyone know that a single dragon of this species remained. Young Dionysus had survive the persecution. His parents hid him the young hatching among the rubbles of their desecrated clan. The couple set out to fight the hunters in order to distract them away from their son. [i]“Hush, be quiet Dionysus. The devils are here. Whatever it takes do not let them find you,” his mother whispered to him. “Mama and Papa will do our best to ward them off.” “But Mama, I’m scared,” the young spiral replied, his words trembling. “I don’t want you both to die...” “Don’t worry, my child,” his father spoke. “We won’t allow these devils to kill us. But whatever may happen remember to survive. Do not let anyone destroy our legacy.” “Always remember that we love you, Dionysus”[/i] Those were the last words he heard from them before they set out to face the armored devils. The terrified hatchling watched as his parents were murdered before his eyes. Until today, he could remember their screams of agony as they were poisoned and stabbed through the heart. Every night he would have nightmares about that event. Dionysus grew up alone being the only dragon left of his lineage. His life had been rough constantly hiding from the horde of hunters. Despite the difficulties, he had managed to survive on his own. He swore to himself the day his parents died that he will not be the hunted. He must continue their bloodline. No fool of a devil shall spill his blood. The Hunter[/b] The Corrupt are evil. They are not of this world. Their presence itself threaten our species. Those were just among the words drilled into Artemis’ mind ever since she was a hatchling. She was the adopted daughter of the clan leader, a dragon of strict morals and a hatred for creatures of magic. Her father was a skilled hunter of the Corrupt. These creatures were not easily killed due to their power. Their magic has bestowed upon them regenerative powers. The only way to kill one is to first poison its magical blood with a special toxin and then strike it to the heart when it is weak. Long ago, many of this species roamed the land. The creatures bred and grew in population. Their unpredictable magic caused havoc to many killing innocent lives. Eventually, her father started the initiative of hunting every single one down. Soon, the numbers slowly dwindled down from a hundreds to none as many had believed. Artemis’ father, however, still believed that some still existed so he kept his clan trained to hunt these creatures. Her father merely told her he had found her as lone egg among the rubbles of a clan allegedly killed by a Corrupt. This strengthened her resolve and hatred towards them. She spent countless of hours everyday training and honing her skills as a hunter. Artemis was a naturally gifted hunter. Her strength and stamina were exceptional compared to other dragons.. Her goal one day is to hunt one down to avenge the death of her parents. They were a menace threatening the lives of many. Every single one of them must be wiped out. One day, word came out that a Corrupt had been roaming and hiding somewhere in Sornieth. Her father immediately ordered all hunters of the clan to search and hunt it down. It was to be brought back to the clan dead or alive. Artemis saw that this was her chance to kill one. The opportunity she had been waiting for all her life. And so, Artemis armed herself for this hunt and set out to spill the blood of a Corrupt. Dionysus was focus on escaping the hunters. Artemis was determined to find and end his life. Fate has a cruel way of playing with the destinies of others. It did not take long for their paths to eventually meet. Artemis had gotten a lead, but she did not tell her fellow hunters since she wanted to take down Dionysus herself. Dionysus’ eyes had widened at the sight of Artemis. “You-“ His voice trailed off, words failing him. Who was this dragon? He sensed something unusual about her. “Stand down and give up,” Artemis ordered coldly. “Today will be the day your species will end.” Finally regaining his senses, he gave her a quizzical look. “End my species? You and I are of the same kind. Granted I sense less magic within you, but I can feel it from you.” Shock and anger were her immediate response at his words. “How dare you accuse me of being your kind! Do NOT group me with your disgusting species. I am of natural birth unlike your forced existence,” she coldly bit out. “Say what you will, but I am not mistaken. The magic that runs in me runs in your blood as well. Can’t you feel it?” Dionysus moved closer towards her, touching her claws with his. “The magic lays dormant in you. His brash actions were angering her further. However, his touch had sent a shock through her veins. It felt like something stirred within her. She stood there frozen in shock. “You felt it didn’t you?” he asked. He was glad to have met another of his kind. “You felt the connection we had. Our species can sense each other’s magic. They react to each other. It is our instinct to help each other survive.“ “Lies...this can’t be. I am a normal dragon.” Shaking her head in denial, Artemis shook him off and ran. Her mind was in turmoil. She needed answers. She must find out the truth. Dionysus silently watched the confused dragon leave. “You’ll be back,” he quietly murmured. At least, he hoped she would. Artemis rushed back to find her father. She confronted him about the truth of her existence. Only disappointment was shown in her father’s eyes but not surprise. “Father! Explain this to me. What is the truth?” she pleaded. [/columns] [columns][size=4] “I dreaded it not to be true,” he grimly replied. “It is truth that I found you as an egg. I took you in and raised you. But when you hatched, I sensed something different about you. I tried to deny my senses, but one time you injured yourself as a hatchling, and the blood that came out of you was not pure. It still had a red hue, but it was imbued with magic. I know the magic of the Corrupt when I see one. You are...” His words choked. “I am a what?” she asked in dread, urging him on. “You are a half blood. One of your parent must’ve been a Corrupt. Your magic abilities are not exceptional as that of a pure blood, but the magic in your blood makes you stronger than normal.” He took in a deep breathe before explaining that he could’ve killed her, but by then he already thought of her as a daughter. So he asked a mage to seal off her magic completely. He never expected for it to awaken once more. “Go,” he calmly told her, turning his back to her. “Leave the clan and never come back.” Artemis at first refused. She didn’t want to leave him and her home. However, his mind had been set. “I said LEAVE,” he growled out in irritation. “I do not have a Corrupt as a daughter half blood or not. I can kill you right here and now, but I’m giving you this chance to escape in honor of our previous relationship. Know this, however, next time we meet it will not be as father and daughter but as hunter and prey.”[nextcol][img]http://i.imgur.com/UhIAECr.gif[/img][/columns] [columns][img]http://i.imgur.com/LIZNqXK.gif[/img][nextcol][size=4]Heartbroken, Artemis left her clan in tears. She tried to deny her existence at first, but she eventually found herself back to Dionysus. He was the only one who can help her understand herself. Moreover, he was probably the only one who’ll accept her now. “Do not let those devils fool you into thinking you are one of them,” Dionysus told her. “They make us look cruel, but in truth, they are the cruel one. We the so called ‘Corrupt’ are peaceful dragons. It is they that hunt us to feed their farfetched belief and cruelty.” “I realized that,” Artemis nodded. “The look my fath-no, that devil- gave me was far from normal. It was cold and inhumane. He had known me as a daughter for years yet just like that he turned against me. Just because of my blood.” “Don’t worry, we won’t let them kill us. We have each other now. We will survive together,” Dionysus said with determination. The pair eventually bonded and grew closer to each other. Love had blossomed between them. Artemis always had a fiery temper, but Dionysus’ calm temperament always mellowed her out. He thought she was beautiful when she was angry. Of course, the embarrassed but happy Artemis would just pout at his words. The couple decided to finally settle down one day. It was not known if they were the last of their species, so they wanted to propagate their species. Their bloodline must continue. They won’t allow hunters to wipe out their kind. Thus, this was the beginning of the legacy of the [i]Corruptus sanguis[/i].[/columns]

They, however, need sufficient time to recover from fatal wounds and will be extremely weakened during their recovery period.
