Its entry to Sornieth was, in that very moment, chaotic and without conscious thought. It didn't take notice of the stars that were beginning to chase away the sun, nor did it take note of the trees surrounding it, pulling away and holding their breaths. Instead it took to scrabbling pathetically at the dirt at the edge of the rift in hopes that it could find purchase and lift itself from the abyss in which it came. Though finally, it managed to grab a fistful of brackish dirt and tugged itself up before flopping to the ground, choking through heaving breaths. It has accomplished its first mission, but there were many more to come. It laid there for several moments as it caught its breath before finally its driving force began to push the creature to its feet. Some instinctual desire was pulling it forward, this creature. This creature who smelled of fetid flesh, whose body was slick with mucus that was only just hardening into a mimicry of scales, whose head fins and wings drooped and sagged as if they had never formed just right, whose outline was rough and worn but also loose in places as if it just couldn't fit quite right on its frame. It was as if it could be akin to a butterfly or a moth perhaps, that had only just emerged from its cocoon, but there was nothing natural about the creature. It took several steps in the direction of its journey, but its limbs were awkward and jerky, unnatural; however, it knew that it was only a matter of time before it grew used to its temporary vessel. A low growl tumbled from the beast's jaws as it began to move, taking no notice of the forest that it would soon aid in its unfortune demise. Rather, it continued on to take on its true form, or perhaps look for a new place to wreak havoc upon when it finally decided that its new home was not capable of sustaining its growth. But the trees knew far too well what these beasts were capable of, even before the first one dug and dug until a sapling's roots were destroyed and its life petered out before the forest's eyes. They called to one another on the breeze to ask what may be done to defend themselves against this new threat, for they were but great oaks and firs and maples who were not blessed with mobile bodies. But eventually, word made it to the elder trees and they echoed out for their younger brethren to silence themselves and listen. In that moment those ancient elders spoke in a tongue that was not their own and it enchanted the others, a mask of bewilderment and wonder emanating from the younger generations for they knew no tongue, not even that of the dragon's, that would even come close to that of what the elders were singing to them now. Though as soon as it began, it was over. The singing ceased and the trees remained in silence for a time, wondering what would happen next. Though, nothing happened for a time. Nothing happened until yet another sapling was murdered, and in outrage, the trees tried to lash out with their words on the wind, growing faster and more violent as it chased after these beasts until finally they had to stop themselves and silence themselves in wonder, for in front of them was a dragon that was not there before. It blinked up at its tree in curiosity before it turned back once more to chase after the beast that had taken its young. In that blink, the dragon claimed the tree's soul as its own and the tree became silent, if only for a time, if only for the duration of its attack. The trees realized then that the elders had granted themselves and their younger brethren to take on the form of dragons as they pleased, and while they appeared much like the beasts that now invaded their home, they were more dragon-like, more tree-like, than those beasts could ever be. They dubbed their new form as the nymph and have since been using this form to defend themselves from the beasts. Then came the great rift in the mountaintops golden beasts of light gracefully stepped from it and out into the world of Sornieth. They didn't have to scrabble or beg or plead to attain their new status or their new body, they simply came as they were. However, they were not beasts nor demon nor dragons or nymphs or even, as they were commonly mistaken for, angels. Well, for the most of them. They were simply Other and coming down from that rift, they knew of their one main goal from the beginning. Eliminate the beasts and protect the dragons. Upon their arrival, the most highly ranked of the Other collaborated and set up the first institute on that very mountaintop, and that institute was to analyze their findings, further their research, and discuss on how best to protect the dragons that fall within the beast's reach and how they might eliminate the infestation, or at least slow it down enough to prevent complete destruction of the magicked lands. Since then they have been following the paths of the beasts and the surges of magic that could mean another awakened landmark that they may crawl to once their prey falls low, and in these places they are setting up new institutes to hopefully do what they did in the first. They seek out potential recruits - some of which they may not even know they are Other - to help aid in their endeavors. Part of their duty is to research and eliminate the blight of the beasts but another is their duty to serve and protect the dragons that may fall prey to the beasts themselves if they aren't careful. The Other consistently guard and scout out the region in search of potential dragons that could be in danger, and if one is found, it is that Other's duty to help them as best that they can. Defeat the beast or fend it off long enough for the dragon to get away, perhaps, but sometimes these encounters result in the death of the Other. Of course, that Other is held in high regards by the Other as they fell while doing their duty.[/center]

The are content with their own self-preservation rather than the survival of their society. The trees (nymphs) that take host to these dragons are often quite young and eager in disposition while the demons that take host to this breed are often contest with how they already are. These are typically minor demons who would have no impact on their magicked landmark, nor do they have any greater agendas that would drive them to speed up their metamorphosis. They care little for the war breaking out between landmark and beast. On the other hand, the astral beings known as the Other often use this breed to their advantage. These dragons often find themselves out in the field to search for isolated individuals to determine how the landmarks can be preserved and protected from the beasts. [font=corbel][size=5]The Coatl[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] The Coatl is a breed of dragon that centers itself around placating those that appear hostile to them, and those that possess this breed as their host are no different. The surprisingly sentient tree nymphs typically try to find ways to get the needless slaughter of their homelands to cease while those of the beast variety simply try to go about their business. The beasts have no reason to destroy the land in which they were brought about; rather, they are merely feeding off the hapless dragons and other creatures that dare fall into their trap so that these beasts may transcend and live their lives as fully-fledged demons. If the Other take host to this breed, they are often sent out in the field to play peacemaker and to offer what little the institute may allow for these beasts to enter a ceasefire so that they may preserve what is left of their once magic-infused lands. [font=corbel][size=5]The Fae[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Benevolent (Nymph or Other)[/b] While host of the Fae are not found in great quantities within the magic-torn landmarks, or at least when opposed to the more domineering and bloodthirsty breeds, they happen to play a major role in how quickly the landmarks are destroyed. Those that possess the Fae are often able to do due to the breed's innate magic and the landmark's ability to channel into it. However, taking on the form of a Fae doesn't provide the trees with much understanding of the draconic language. Demons are nearly incapable of taking host to a Fae as their primary alignment is benevolent. The Fae are present in much greater quantities when hosted by the Other as their innate magical abilities can often drive the institute's research. They deal primarily in experimenting with and dissecting anomalies of these power-infused landmarks by channeling their own magic. By doing this they can determine the likelihood of other landmarks that demons may latch onto for their power sources, or if they are already wreaking havoc upon the land, they can then measure the amount of destruction that has occurred and how much is left that can be preserved. [font=corbel][size=5]The Guardian[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Benevolent (Nymph or Other)[/b] The Guardians of the trees are few but powerful. While they are often much fewer in number compared to those of other breeds, Guardians are often hosted by the elders of the land. They are an ancient and wizened force to be reckoned with. Their collective charge is the soul of the landmark in which they came and they'll be damned to see it fall. Demons are nearly incapable of taking host to a Guardian as their primary alignment is benevolent. Guardians often appear in much larger quantities within the area of research; however, they are far less powerful than the elders that take host to the breed within the creeping darkness of encroaching demons. These dragons typically hold the position of warrior or guard and they often find themselves warring against the beasts of their assigned landmark. Charges amongst these Guardians can run from their research, their station, their assigned landmark, or perhaps someone that they hold dear that falls close to their fated path. [font=corbel][size=5]The Imperial[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Malevolent (Beast)[/b] Hosts of the Imperial are perhaps the most intriguing and deadly of the beasts. They are those that will undergo metamorphosis and become the most powerful of demons. However, some plan other agendas besides simply reclaiming their living, demonic forms. Many that inhabit the bodies of Imperials will also choose to live and die beside one another, a quick indication of something being something not quite dragon as the typical Imperial would not remain in such close vicinity to another. Many strive to become stronger even in death in the form of an Emperor, wreaking havoc upon the land, destroying the magic that keeps the landmarks alive, and causing death and destruction as they pass through areas previously not sought out by their own kind. They are deadly and vicious and quite nearly impossible to be bargained with. [font=corbel][size=5]The Mirror[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Malevolent (Beast)[/b] Much like the Wildclaw, they are formidable hunters and bloodthirsty beasts. Like Tundras, hosts of Mirrors are often found hunting and battling in large groups. As beasts, these are perhaps the second fastest host to undergo metamorphosis, but only due to the fact that as a group, each Mirror host consumes a smaller portion of the meat that is needed for them to "level up" in a sense. They often consume in large quantities to the point that they are nearly always the first to go searching for another source of magic that may satisfy their needs. [font=corbel][size=5]The Nocturne[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b] Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] Hosts of the breed Nocturne are masters of mimicry. The nymphs that take host of this breed tend to mimic the hosts of demons so that they may confuse and ward off potential foes by changing their disposition and their scent. By doing this, the mimics may be able to preserve themselves for yet another day. The beasts follow the same tactics by slipping into a façade that they are the nymphs, and by doing so, they can learn valuable tactics and secrets to exhibit their enemy's weakness to their brethren. The Other use Nocturne hosts to their advantage so that they may slip into the everyday lives of both nymph and beast. They use this information to receive further analysis of the situation and to provide critical insight and possible ideas to stop this madness. They live and breathe a sense of illusion into the interbeing war for life. [font=corbel][size=5]The Pearlcatcher[/font][/size] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] Those that are in possession of a Pearlcatcher often retains it impeccable high self-esteem and critical judgement of others. For a nymph, this breed signifies a haughty individual who believes itself to be invulnerable of destruction - think adolescent of young adult. Snobbish beasts may take this host and develop a tendency to either completely avoid the landmark's destruction because it is hardly important enough to die by this beast's claws, or it may turn to favor the destruction of the landmark due to it striving to be the most important being in the area. Oftentimes these beasts can be bribed to turn against their own kind due to their own narcissism. The Other may take host to this breed, and while they may still appear uppity, they are often more tolerant to other and simply try to be the best scholars and researches that they can be. [font=corbel][size=5]The Ridgeback[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Malevolent (Beast)[/b] Hosts of the Ridgeback are cunning, sharp witted, and are often the more powerful beasts that will eventually develop into the more powerful demons. Their sly behavior often nets them into accomplishing deals with dragons, allowing them to live, if only for a short time before their hunt begins. They burrow and tunnel their way into the depths of the landmarks in search of the purest magic to enhance and speed up their metamorphosis which often results in the destruction and death of the landmark itself. When confronted by a formidable foe of the Other or a nymph, they often throw an innocent smirk upon their face and claim that they were just borrowing the magic and once they had finished their metamorphosis, everything would turn back to normal. Of course, that was never true. [font=corbel][size=5]The Skydancer[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Benevolent (Nymph or Other)[/b] Skydancers hosts are perhaps one of the most significant breeds to influence the outcome of the magic-infused landmarks and the wellbeing of both the landmarks and the dragons that reside close to them. Nymphs play their part as peacekeepers who often test the waters with beasts before deciding to find a way to cease the beast's destruction of their home. But for the Other, Skydancer hosts play a much bigger role. They are able to channel and analyze the magic that comes from these landmarks and the beasts and the nymphs so that they may conduct further research in stopping and persuading the beasts to find some other way to deal with their metamorphosis. They handle disputes among beast and nymph and often act as scouts to determine how everything is faring while the war rages on. They also act as protectors to dragons. [font=corbel][size=5]The Snapper[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] Along with the Guardians that are truly the hosts of elder trees, the hosts of Snappers are often thought to be the elders of nymphs, beasts, and Other due to their walking encyclopedia-like behavior. As beasts, they are often those of higher position, but low aggression. They live their days feasting off what they can, gaining intellect, and going the slow and steady route to achieve their goal. As nymphs, they often rank just above the hosts of Guardians. They are the oldest of the trees and often know every story and everything that has happened during the life of the forest. The Other that are in possession of the Snapper breed are often high in their ranks as elders of archivists. They are often nomads in that they have no one exact institute in which they stay. They follow the paths of destroyed magic and consult the institute and the landmark of which they find first before moving away to search for another. [font=corbel][size=5]The Spiral[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] A dizzyingly active breed of dragon, those that take host to Spirals are often alike in their activities. These are often the most lively of nymphs, those that still have a bit of growing to do, of beasts that tend to create most of the destruction apart from those with their primary alignments being malevolent. Beasts often destroy the landmarks by burrowing into them - such as with how Spirals accidentally kill trees in order to make a den. Though, like a two-sided coin, the Other often find themselves in possession of Spirals so that they may send out and receive messages regarding the progress of other beast-infested lands, as well as other various pieces of information that may prove beneficial to curing the land. Their relation to the Windsinger and their active disposition often lands the breed as being one of the most helpful in getting information across the numerous territories. [font=corbel][size=5]The Tundra[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] The hosts of the Tundra breed are often as forgetful as the breed itself. They are also hardy and are often seen in groups. Lowly beasts often find themselves as hosts to this breed due to their dependency of groups to render damage on the land before them; however, they often forget the purpose of their goal and often find themselves accidentally killing the land by burrowing for their group. Young nymphs often find themselves grouped with one another or grouped with older nymphs, but they often look for their group self-preservation rather than the forest as a whole. The Other often find themselves as hosts to the breed Tundra when they will be assigned to rough climates or will have a reason to burrow. They often play a low role within the Other's society and after often simple-minded assistant's that perform simple tasks. [font=corbel][size=5]The Wildclaw[/size][/font] [font=corbel][b]Alignment: Neutral (Beast, Nymph, or Other)[/b] Unruly and wild, hosts of the Wildclaw are often vicious and the most bloodthirsty. The focus on hunting and dueling. Beasts who take on this host often undergo metamorphosis the most quickly as most encounters involve bloodshed. Either they defeat their opponent and eat them to attain their more demonic forms or they perish and return to hell to await their turn at entering Sornieth once more. As nymphs, they are often the most hostile when defending their homeland. They aren't afraid to engage in battle when something is threatening to destroy the magic that has kept them alive for so long. As a host to the Other, they often take on two forms: an aggressive battle dragon that fights alongside the hosts of Guardians or the curators of art and other objects that may prove necessary to keep for analysis. They are often seen decorating the institutes when their battle-ready aggression is absent.
