Tree dragons are a subspecies of dragon with very bark-like hide, and soft, leaf-like wings. Many different kinds exist, and many similar subspecies have arisen, but these are all quite unique, and yet diverse, members of a big network of subspecies. Many of them have similar qualities to the trees they embody (i.e. Maple Tree dragons have sweet sticky sap within them, and Birch dragons have marvelous striped coats.) And they all have quite some personality. Now, each individual is different, but this thread will hopefully be a sort of guide on what to expect with a dragon in each subspecies. With that in mind, feel free to read, comment, and ask questions! This is my first subspecies, so feel free to give feedback on what might be good to revise or to think of for the future. If you're interested in registering a dragon that fits into one of these subspecies, please check out the registration thread. There should be a form waiting for you! I'll try to keep good track of this forum, and hopefully have hatcheries and affiliates in the future. If you're interested in becoming an affiliate, please consult me and we can discuss what service you would like to affiliate. Remember, this subspecies is meant to be fun and inclusive, so unreasonable and rude behavior will get you removed from the thread. If your dragon doesn't quite match the guidelines, but you would still like to register, this is all in the name of fun and I will most likely accept them as part of the forest. If you have any questions that still trouble you after reading the thread, go ahead and ping @Mustielsen for any additional questions and concerns! Now, the next post should have information on the forest of tree dragons!

Some are prone to occasional illness, which is another reason they prefer to stay indoors. Many are very friendly, and love to nuzzle up with their companions and familiars (for a nice nap.) Many of them claim that their favorite weather is rain, but others claim basking in the warm sunshine makes for a relaxing afternoon. Care free and loving, the things they devote the most time and energy to would be making their friends happy. Autumn Tree Dragons come in a variety of bold and earthy colors, and give off a supremely calm aura. Many of them can be found flying loops in the air, or simply dancing on the breeze. Blooming dragons are most often Wildclaws, Skydancers, and Spirals, but there are definitely exceptions to this. Blooming tree dragons are most boisterous in sunny weather, and they love to play tag and roll in fresh grass. Free spirited and jovial, these dragons would make friends with just about anyone, even the wrong sort potentially. Their naivety can often get the best of them, and they are prone to being very emotional. If you have the energy to keep up, Blooming Tree dragons are wonderfully creative companions with a joy for anything they deem fun. The flowers and patterns growing on blooming dragons can take on a variety of colors, and although boldest in the spring, remain fresh and flowering all year long. When a dragon is unhealthy, its blooms may lose hue or wilt excessively, and they become lethargic. This only happens when they're out of the sunlight for long periods of time or ill, as they are a very hearty and healthy subspecies. There are two main variations to this breed, one being the half bloomed (green secondary, colorful tertiary), or full bloomed (secondary and tertiary colors match or are close to matching). The full bloomed dragons tend to have a bit more confidence than their half bloomed counterparts, but both are boisterous and invigorating energies to have around in a clan. They make great nest watchers, and work well with hatchlings despite their apparent and perpetual stickiness. Maple Tree dragons are most often Pearlcatchers, Guardians, and Coatls, but there are definitely exceptions to this. Maple Tree dragons are often seen as somewhat parental, very cautious, but with a good heart. They can be fiercely protective of their friends and family, however, so it's best to be careful about offending them. They aren't quick to anger though, so it isn't too difficult to become friends with them. If they're worried a friend of theirs seems to be having trouble doing something, they may be inclined to do it for them. Some find them possibly condescending, but most of the time, these dragons are purely looking out for others in the only way they know how. The Maple Tree dragon's chest is filled with a sap-like syrup, which gives off a sweet aroma and can *technically* be ingested (though that might gross other dragons out.) Sometimes though, the sap within them isn't as sweet as it smells, and can leave a bitter taste in one's mouth. This flavor could likely be affected by mood, but that has yet to be proven. Maple Tree Dragons come with these genes in these ranges: Suggested Primary: (suggested colors) Dirt to Hickory, Ginger to Auburn [sub](Dirt to Auburn excluding Tarnish and Copper)[/sub] [item=primary gene: Ripple ] [item=primary gene: Tapir ] [item=primary gene: Speckle ] [item=primary gene: Bar ] [item=primary gene: Falcon ][item=primary gene: Giraffe ] [item=primary gene: Jupiter ] [item=primary gene: Python ][item=primary gene: Tiger][item=primary gene: metallic ]and rarely,[item=primary gene: Petals ] Suggested Secondary: (suggested colors) Jade to Fern [item=secondary gene: Freckle][item=secondary gene: peregrine][item=secondary gene: bee][item=secondary gene: daub][item=secondary gene: hypnotic][item=secondary gene: morph][item=secondary gene: shimmer][item=secondary gene: stration][item=secondary gene: seraph][item=secondary gene: stripes]and rarely,[item=secondary gene: alloy] Suggested Tertiary: (suggested colors) Goldenrod to Terracotta, like sap or honey [item=tertiary gene: Capsule] ----- Starwood Tree dragons were affected by the strong magical energies within arcane regions, and thusly has morphed along with the local flora. These dragons are rare, and almost exclusively Fae, but there have been recordings of other breeds being warped by recent surges in magical energies. Many dragons have never seen a Starwood Tree dragon, and so their appearance is often unexpected and unusual. They can be a bit blunt, but have an astounding curiosity. Out of the other tree subspecies, they would be most likely to get along with (or at the very least find entertainment in) Enchanted Tree dragons. Not much is known about them beyond a few known members of the subspecies, so their mannerisms and behavior is nearly an enigma. All that has really been known to have been found in common in most members is their fascination with stars, as they are constantly stargazing any opportunity they get. These dragons fiercely protect the things they covet, although those things may not always be a conventional hoard. Some prefer the company of snails, while others keep mushroom colonies on their backs. their slow and steady movement allows for moss to overtake portions of their body, but they don't seem all that bothered. Slower moving dragons like Bogsneaks, Snappers, and Guardians tend to become mossy trees, but there are always exceptions. Being dragons connected both metaphorically and literally to the living things around them, they take great care in making sure the moss and algae on their skin remains plump and healthy, taking frequent riverside baths and lounging in shady forest clearings. Most of them have no fear of insects and creepy crawlies, even going so far as to keep hoards of them in the patches of moss like they're giant living ecosystems. Many moss dragons hail from the nature flight, but exceptions happen to those who recognize their place in the world as such. A friendship with a mossy tree dragon may be pleasant of one enjoys lounging around, but getting them to leave their post or move around just isn't always feasible.

Many actually love food, and may even make treats for their friends on occasion.

Autumn Tree Dragons often come with these genes in these ranges:

Suggested Primary:
(suggested colors) Dirt to Hickory, Ginger to Auburn (Dirt to Auburn excluding Tarnish and Copper)

blooming_banner.png

Blooming tree dragons are lively and energetic.

Blooming Tree Dragons come with these genes in these ranges:

Suggested Primary:
(suggested colors) Sand to Hickory, Ginger to Auburn (Sand to Auburn excluding Tarnish and Copper)

Primary Gene: Ripple Primary Gene: Tapir Primary Gene: Speckle Primary Gene: Bar Primary Gene: Falcon Primary Gene: Giraffe Primary Gene: Jupiter Primary Gene: Python Primary Gene: Tiger Primary Gene: Metallic and rarely, Primary Gene: Petals

Suggested Tertiary:
(suggested colors) Blackberry to Violet, Lemon to Gold,Marigold to Orange, Carrot to Tangerine, Berry to Carmine, and Blush to Rose

Tertiary Gene: Ringlets Tertiary Gene: Lace and rarely, Tertiary Gene: Gembond

maple_banner.png

Maple Tree dragons tend to be very responsible, careful with smaller companions, and overall patient.

Maple Tree Dragons come with these genes in these ranges:

Suggested Primary:
(suggested colors) Dirt to Hickory, Ginger to Auburn (Dirt to Auburn excluding Tarnish and Copper)

Primary Gene: Ripple Primary Gene: Tapir Primary Gene: Speckle Primary Gene: Bar Primary Gene: Falcon Primary Gene: Giraffe Primary Gene: Jupiter Primary Gene: Python Primary Gene: Tiger Primary Gene: Metallic and rarely, Primary Gene: Petals

Suggested Secondary:
(suggested colors) Jade to Fern

Secondary Gene: Freckle Secondary Gene: Peregrine Secondary Gene: Bee Secondary Gene: Daub Secondary Gene: Hypnotic Secondary Gene: Morph Secondary Gene: Shimmer Secondary Gene: Seraph Secondary Gene: Stripes and rarely, Secondary Gene: Alloy

Suggested Tertiary:
(suggested colors) Goldenrod to Terracotta, like sap or honey

Tertiary Gene: Capsule

starwood_banner.png

Starwood Tree dragons were affected by the strong magical energies within arcane regions, and thusly has morphed along with the local flora.

Starwood Tree Dragons come with these genes in these ranges:

Suggested Primary:
(suggested colors) Maize to Shadow something birch-y, dark or light with low saturation.

Primary Gene: Ripple Primary Gene: Tapir Primary Gene: Speckle Primary Gene: Bar Primary Gene: Falcon Primary Gene: Giraffe Primary Gene: Jupiter Primary Gene: Python Primary Gene: Tiger Primary Gene: Metallic
and rarely, Primary Gene: Crystal or Primary Gene: Starmap

Suggested Tertiary:
(suggested colors) Blush to Raspberry, Mauve to Pearl like the arcane magic that often courses through them

Tertiary Gene: Gembond Tertiary Gene: Spines Tertiary Gene: Runes and rarely, Tertiary Gene: Opal

mossybanner.png

Mossy tree dragons are mild mannered and easy going most of the time, living a pacifistic and sometimes secluded lifestyle, but don't be fooled by their calm and collected demeanor.

Enchanted Tree Dragons come with these genes in these ranges:

Suggested Primary:
(suggested colors) Dirt to Hickory, Ginger to Auburn

Primary Gene: Ripple Primary Gene: Tapir Primary Gene: Speckle Primary Gene: Bar Primary Gene: Falcon Primary Gene: Giraffe Primary Gene: Jupiter Primary Gene: Python Primary Gene: Tiger and rarely, Primary Gene: Metallic

Suggested Secondary:
(suggested colors) Jade to Fern or anything leaf-like

Secondary Gene: Freckle Secondary Gene: Peregrine Secondary Gene: Bee Secondary Gene: Daub Secondary Gene: Hypnotic Secondary Gene: Morph Secondary Gene: Shimmer Secondary Gene: Seraph Secondary Gene: Stripes and rarely, Secondary Gene: Alloy

Suggested Tertiary:
(suggested colors) Jade to Fern or anything mossy

Tertiary Gene: Crackle Tertiary Gene: Gembond and rarely, Tertiary Gene: Thylacine or Tertiary Gene: Okapi
