Caustic Containers, A Multi-Flight Subspecies
Lore | The Institutes | Registration/Pins | Registered Containers | Ping Lists

Scattered somewhere between the Scarred Wasteland and the Viridian Labyrinth, there lies a subspecies of dragons intent on clearing, containing, and eradicating disease from Sornieth. These dragons, now known as Caustic Containers, are a delicate combination of both dragonkind and developing technology from the Asmodeus Institute. At their best, these dragons are able to internalize toxins and dangerous materials with little to no harm to themselves.

Unfortunately, as these dragons are merely prototypes until the technology composing them is furthered, their forms can be prone to mutation and their capsules to breakage. In the event that a container breaks, its contents will not be spilled. However, the dragon whose container has broken will quickly fall ill. Below, files on each specimen describe the function, temperament, and genetic makeup of each Caustic Container.
Subject: Caustic Containers, Unspilled

Notes: Dr. Nyota Dei, head of the Asmodeus Institute, designed Caustic Containers as a way of combining her interests as a devoted follower of the Gladekeeper and those stemming from her background in molecular biology. In an attempt to help those in Sornieth who were unable to clear toxic waste from their surroundings as well as those who were sick, she genetically modified a dragon that was capable of internalizing dangerous materials and curing disease.

These dragons, now referred to as Unspilled Caustic Containers, have metallic bodies that act as a barrier between internalized toxins and the environment as well as specialized capsules to contain and neutralize any ingested biohazardous materials. I am Dr. Nyota Dei, Founder and Director of the Asmodeus Institute, as well as a one of the many handfuls of scientists working here. If you'll follow me, I can take you on a more in depth tour of the Asmodeus Institute and explain the reasoning behind some of the many creations and specimens housed here." She holds out a hand and waits for you enter the double doors. "Long before I became the head of this institute, I was employed by the Zytonek Institute as one of many Molecular Biologists whose duty was to study unknown creatures and crack their genetic codes. Unfortunately, due to unfortunate circumstances surrounding work with subjects K-3019 and A-6627, I was forced to leave the institute in search of a place with more like-minded individuals." Dr. Dei steps toward a large display and types something in. The screen just above flickers to life and footage of what appears to be a Nocturne hatchling with glowing red eyes appears. The Nocturne makes eye-contact with the camera holder and suddenly the screen fades to black, but not before a scream can be heard. Dr. Dei frowns and turns back to you, one of her long claws clicking the display to turn the screen off. "In my search for scientists more like myself, those who believed that our creations should be born to help and not to serve a more militant agenda, I realized I would have to create the space I so desperately sought out. And so, the Asmodeus Institute was born!" She smiles. "The very first Caustic Container created in the lab was actually Dr. Tama Yokoi, a colleague of mine who volunteered in order to help dragons in territories bordering on the Scarred Wasteland. Together, with my background in Biology and his in Biomedical Engineering, we were able to create a semi-synthetic capsule that could house any toxins or pathogens encountered during routine biohazard disposals. Of course, his elemental alignment in ice made him the perfect candidate to clear infectious disease." "You see, while Caustic Containers can be of any flight, their elemental alignments greatly determine which field they are best suited to. Due to the temperature sensitivity of most biological diseases - such as viruses and bacteria - Ice aligned Caustic Containers are usually employed in the disposal of biological diseases and care of those afflicted. Those aligned with the Arcane are often employed in our more difficult cases involving curses or witchcraft." The two of you stop at another display just outside a set of double doors where a group of scientists seem to be working with great fervor. Many are hunched over bench-tops, peering into microscopes or mixing chemicals. "My point is, while science plays a large part in what we do at the institute, we are well aware that our elemental alignments can often enhance the work we do. Some of our brightest scientists are often aligned with the Plaguebringer. And, while it might seem like a slight to her to eradicate disease, many of them believe their work here is a show of great respect. Their interest in her works and creations is so great that they study them for decades, or even centuries!" Dr. Dei hands you a pair of goggles and a lab coat. "Now, if you wish to see more, please put these on." ----- Dr. Isra Knyght, Head of the Zytonek Institute A dark chuckle sounds from what was thought to be a vacant room down an unlit hall. Inside, a vibrantly colored Bogsneak can be seen standing on her hind-legs, towering over a Coatl. While the Coatl is breathing, it's apparent that this simple process seems to be requiring a tremendous amount of effort from them. Their skin, while not pale as is typical for any afflicted Coatls, has taken on a bright green hue most likely owed to the fact that their irradiated bones can be seen through their metallic skin. "You came to the right place, darling," The Bogsneak coos. "I, too, know the pain this must be causing you. The anger you must feel at being abandoned. When I'm finished with you, you'll be able to take the revenge you so desperately deserve." "Dr. Knyght," says a voice from the doorway. It comes from a small Pearlcatcher, though her pearl is nowhere in sight. "It's Dr. Dei. More of her specialists have come in search of the afflicted." A feral grin spreads across Dr. Isra Knyght's face. "Good. Get rid of them."

Annnnd we're open!

@kyrin18 lemme know if you need anything else. Pins/Buttons for each species category should be up by the time the next nest hatches!

@tarunarei Bismuth is officially part of the subspecies! If you'd like to make it a little more official for her, let me know and I'll send you the code for her specific button once I have it finished!
