i'd have to go with my custom progenitor, [b]marth[/b]! now, back in 2015, i went with... blue. and blue. azure and denim, a combo where you can't really go wrong!
except his tert was slate. [i]slate.[/i]
as far as browns go, slate is one of the better - but it is [i]not[/i] a good tertiary for an azure/denim dragon. back then, i didn't care much for having him gened up - you'll notice that most of my unfortunate tert dragons are from around when i joined - but once i began considering it, i realized how awful it was. so i slapped a skin on it and called it a day!

and i've become attached to that combo of the skin and the mantle, so until i have all three of his genes, it's not coming off. once i DO have it, he'll become this stunning boy you see to the right!
before this, i'd planned on petals/peregrine/capsule. but looking at my random progen - who i managed to scatter into a beautiful cream/carrot/terracotta - he always looked a bit... lacking. the blues were important, so scattering would not be an option either.
then, sometime after the release of ghost, i scried him again - and i'm really happy with this combination! it's unique, it's something that matches him, and it's something that i like. i'm still working on getting the gem genes, but believe me - he'll be stunning soon!

ah, misfortune! i saw her as a hatchling, had a laugh at the name, and wondered briefly what she'd be used for. now i know, i guess!
as much as i adore stained, especially for colors like magenta or fuchsia (and it looks great on her, trust me!), i also love both the combination of the primary and secondary, and the almost-gradient of yellow to pink she's got going on here.
(besides, nocturnes fix anything.)

Berry Iridescent is actually quite pink on many breeds, so this girl's tert isn't so unlucky after all. If anything, getting her secondary to work was the tricky part for me.
The Stained route is rather nice too.
My random had the misfortune to go through scatter hell a few times finally ending up with Sanguine and Denim, two nicely complementing colors and [i]Mulberry[/i], a tert that was far too bright for my tastes

My progen. I...honestly don't know why I went with Caribbean for his secondary, since it doesn't match his eyes, but I really shouldn't have trusted that I'd get something decent for his tertiary. I could've lived with something red, but an orange? Leaning towards exalting rather than trying to fix this mess. Which is partially my fault, but still. I don't normally care for Capsule but I think it might be my best shot.
