Sorry, I don't know if I played too much with "real" Flight Rising lore.(Magic, how interactive the deities are with other dragons, etc.)
Sunrise and Win
Sunrise is now a gentle dragon, but his early days were traumatic and challenging. A couple days after he was born, he and his brothers was abandoned in an unknown setting, but soon found by a nomadic flight. For the first couple days of his life, his new mother loved him and nurtured him. She seemed to have earnest concern for his health, but she immediately rejected him when she saw that her other foster hatchlings had amazing magical abilities. Sunrise, at the time, was given no name, even though his brothers were christened to the wind deity. From then on, he was starved and neglected. Since his mother was not around to take care of him, the rough males of the flight beat him and punished him for fun. By his first birthday, he could not fly, so on that day, he was carried to a cliff and the band of wrong-doers threw him off the edge. Evidently, he survived the fall, but only with the help of intervening magic. It was rumored that the wind deity saved him; the next day, he had mysterious wind-themed markings covering him. The fall was enough to crush both his wings permanently, but they..."grew" back, becoming pretty as ever. His accent was almost a mark, showing that he was disabled and only alive because the wind deity had saved him. This caused more classmates to think that he was useless. Eventually, he was sold to another flight--his current one. He was old enough to understand that his flight did not want him, and, being a sensitive, hatchling it bothered him greatly. He is still slightly heartbroken at his rejection even to this day.
However, his early experiences seem to have given him a certain calmness to his demeanor, which may be why Win was drawn to him. Needless to say, he was equally drawn to her because of the fiery way that she is dealing with her struggles.
Win, simply, was supposed to be the "Tiger Warrior" with the gift of water. When it was found out that her spirit animal (her familiar) was actually a phoenix, she realized that she was not a legendary hero after all. (In fact, it was her brother who was the tiger warrior. The hatch was supposed to have held the fabled tiger warrior, but no one knew which of the hatchlings it was. Win's father was thought to be saved by Win herself, which supposedly proved that she was a hero. In reality, her brother had sacrificed himself to save the father.) She tried her best to rebel against anything that had to do with her
not being the warrior. But she failed on a test of bravery, strength, all that mushy stuff, etc. and was very hard on herself that she had not fulfilled the clan's hopes.
It is unknown how Sunrise and Win met, but it was lucky that fate had them bump into each other. Sunrise immediately saved her from...well, let's just say being consumed by bitterness. She almost fascinated him, the way that she had come from a protected life and was so angry with her happy future, when he was unprotected and content with his crippled body. Sunrise didn't just help Win emotionally, though. Sunrise was ready to accept the world in a melancholy "so be it" way. Win unconsciously showed him how to control his future...or, at least a little bit, anyway. By the end of the year, he had completely changed into a mischievous, playful dragon, but in a good way. He played his pranks (and was very athletic without his wings), but always kept up the calm atmosphere.
Summary: Sunrise and Win both met in tough times--Win was angry at the world and Sunrise was too content with the world doing him wrong. Win taught him how to want to control his own future, and he became happier and treated everything else in the world with a more playful outlook. Win was once upset with her real future, but Sunrise taught her how to accept her destiny. Over the years, they became extremely attached to one another. It was almost as if they became closer with every moment that their personalities changed. Now, they can read each other's emotions (not thoughts) and spend almost every day together.
So Sunrise and Win have been friends almost their whole lives. However, as they get older, Sunrise's respect of her becomes a little something more...
