Straight from the Ashfall Wastes, Firebirds is an official Fire subspecies with other flights (Plague, Light and Earth) also accepted. This was a breeding project of love (and of course a
To most, a coatl born with monochromatic colors is a symbol of bad luck. But don’t worry, parents often say to hatchlings with white, grey or black wings and bodies- if you’re good, kind, and thoughtful, you’ll be reborn as a Firebird.
Of course, that’s not actually how the Firebirds came to be, but as few (save the deities, naturally) have lived that long, no one can be completely sure. They definitely originate from Emberglow Hearth in the Ashfall Wastes, just like most coatls. The most commonly agreed upon theory is that a mock firebird raised an abandoned coatl egg and the hatchling mimicked the colors of the bird that raised it. While the genes changed and expanded over the years, the very distinct colors remained the same; the orange, red and yellow are the easiest way to spot one.
Everything that seems to exemplify a coatl is truly brought to life in the bright Firebirds. Their warm, caring spirits (and sometimes heated tempers) are very well known, even among the rest of their species. Most prefer to lend their talents towards creating, though the exact nature is up to the dragon. Some make weapons or jewelry, others prefer to sew, and still more turn to painting or sculpting. A rare few take their passion in a different direction, choosing to serve their deity with weapons and claws.
True to coatls in general, the Firebirds prefer to nest in the Ashfall Wastes. However, that hasn’t stopped them from exploring- their laughter and bright nature can be found cheering many a lair on a cool night.
