They also have a few variations, which are all based on the gene of the secondary. [u][b]The three most important rules for skellies are:[/b][/u] [LIST=1] [*] The tertiary must be ghost. As of now, the 5 best colors are ice, moon, orca, sky, and white. But as long as it's significantly lighter than the primary, it's fine. [*] The secondary should imply bright, supernatural flames. It is not enough just to have a white or ice ghost tertiary, the intent of the species is to look like they are possessed by unholy flames. [*] They should be XYZ, typically with a very bright secondary and a very dark primary. [/LIST] Skellies' wings are not only on fire, but they are actually [b]indicative of their spirit energy![/b] Each color has something special to do with their personality type. You can find a guide for each in a post below. [b]Hollows:[/b] Skellies that have genes that don't necessarily fit the ideal are considered more [b]Hollow,[/b] with less personality than an ideal skelly, and not quite up to breed standards. However, they are still skellies! They can be refurbished into ideal skellies simply by changing their genes! * denotes an extra-special gene or coloration that is the absolute [b]preferred[/b] for an ideal skelly. They are allowed as long as the colors are monotone- meaning they aren't multicolored like radioactive, etc. For example, cyan is perfectly acceptable for striation and trail. When the spirit reconnects, it doesn't fit back like it used to, and their skeletal remains become possessed by the flames of the Underworld. These flames are indicative of what their spirit was like before they died, similarly to the human concept of auras. It's very easy to tell what a Skelly is thinking or feeling, because their flames are extremely expressive. When angry, they'll increase in size and may even change color slightly. Since their flames are expressed as their wings, it's kind of like Skellies wear their hearts on their shoulders. Hollow Skellies tend to have less control over their flames and may sputter. Rotten Skellies sputter even more- sometimes their flames even disappear for a moment! This isn't a definite science- we're still discovering new traits about skellies all the time! But for now, if you want to play along, here's a handy guide. They tend to make extremely talented craftsmen. They are very open to change and tend not to dwell on tradition. A few tend towards becoming neutral peacekeepers, but this isn't 100% between all green-flames. The downsides of green are that they sometimes display a possessive nature and fear of being unlovable. After a supernatural mishap, he nearly lost his life and was marked forever as a half undead, with the power to resurrect. He was obsessed with her in an unhealthy way- projecting all of his needs and wants into one single being. She was beautiful, she was his world, and she died. A simple illness had struck her down, leaving Cailth with no enemy to exact revenge on. He spent all of his time researching how to cheat death, but unfortunately he found it instead. A demonic brew was created one night after weeks of study, to be poured over Bernadette's grave. But he had not heeded the warnings of wiser folk- and once the liquid hit the sodden earth, a dark cloud sprung forth and infected Cailth. Despite the blackness filling his eyes and burning at his lungs, he saw the figure of his beautiful Bernadette- but where she once had flesh, there was nothing but bone and deathly cold pink flame. His potion was a curse that left her a shell of her former self, forever bound to the mortal world in a decaying body unfit for it. Her skeletal remains let out a shriek in horror when she realized Cailth's body was decaying before her eyes- but he gave no notice, unable to see beyond his Bernadette. Right as his beautiful black feathers began to burst into an unholy blue flame, she flung herself at him in a desperate attempt to save him from the fate he cursed them both with. Her body disintegrated on colliding with his, and suddenly the flames on his body went out. He was left in a half alive and half dead state, but lacking the unholy flames that had overtaken Bernadette. What he was left with was the power of the potion he had used on his dead lover- the ability to animate the dead. This power took the form of cold pink flames, just like Bernadette's. But unlike her, he was able to control them. The years following were misery without Bernadette, but he quelled the feelings of hopelessness by attempting to perfect the art of reanimation. He followed dragons that reminded him of his lover, even to the point of stalking. Unable to let them go, he would kill them and practice his powers- his morality had slipped to the point where he did not even see this act as wrong, since they would just be made "alive again." However, every single reanimated dragon was not like they were before. Like Bernadette, they were skeletal and possessed by cold flames, each one a different color. They also tended to forget what had been done to them and would follow Cailth like lost puppies. His unending loneliness caused him to constantly create these hollow vessels to keep him company. As time went on he realized that their flames matched the color of their spirits, with each one's personality becoming a facet of Bernadette's. He practiced for years to perfect his art, creating more complex vessels until they were able to retain more and more of their previous personalities. Due to his greed and obsession, however, each one only retained the parts of their personalities that related to Bernadette. Some were more hollow than others due to this, but he still could not see the wrong in what he did. He began to date his undead subjects, falling in love with the different parts of Bernadette again and again, be them male or female. His attempts at raising children only produced more of the same- the children died instantly on birth, possessed by the flames of their parents. They grew up undead, but due to having childhoods, these children tended to develop personalities beyond their hollow parents. Still, each one posessed a tiny fragment of Bernadette.[/size]
