the creepier the better. Legitimately frightening, going to have nightmares tonight? YES send them ALL my way!!
edit: GREAT dragons everyone! I love looking at other people's creations, and I'm getting some lore inspiration :3
As promised, I shall now post my own creepy dragons
As a dragon, Seneca is more bark than bite. But he's a weredrake, and every full moon he turns into a beastly beast, unnaturally aggressive and hyperlethal. More than once has he awoken the morning after to flesh in his teeth and blood on his claws.
Sometimes, even in his normal dragon form, the scent of fear makes him hungry.
This boy is a very new addition to my clan. So new that he doesn't even have a name yet. But picture a soldier of hell--that's him. An indestructible force of war, if he spots you he will crush you.
Eidola's a lot different. She's not malevolent, she's just...unfortunate looking. She looks like the figure in an old wyrm's tale, an evil spirit who possessed the bodies of the dead. Her pallid and specterlike appearance makes everyone uneasy. Furthermore, she rarely speaks, and there always seems to be a fog around her.
Shibboleth is a deadly warrior. Nevermind her size--she tends to lurk in the shadows, waiting for just the right moment. Her ambushes are quick and her massacres are silent.
Apollyon and Belial are the big bads of my lore. They are both adept at changing their appearance to gain the trust of their targets. While in the Clan, they went by the names of Apollo and Belle, and looked as kind and nonthreatening as they could. But their true forms are much more hideous.
Apollyon devised a world-ending plan to take over the realms using an army of emperors. Now, that requires a lot of dead dragons. Let's just say he ended up being very capable of achieving that. (they are completely overpowered. BUT YAKNOW WHAT? that's fun sometimes)
Your dreams, they may come with soft trifles of memory
Full of laughter and thrums from sweet time’s reverie
But with a blackness rolling, dreams turn to horror
Flowers fall to mourning, dances end in torpor
And from every corner, the creeps are crawling, from every shadow strummed
Whispering, bawling, grimly calling "the Sleepstealer, he comes!"
The Nightwaker and the Sleepstealer are two of the four Dreamwalkers. That's what they do--they walk in the dreams of other dragons. This grants them immense power. Additionally, their physical bodies are somewhat...corrupted, and so for the time being, they are essentially immortal. Who knows when the corruption will wear off? But for now, they manipulate other dragons into thinking horrible things and committing terrible acts. And as the trauma mounts and the body count rises, they laugh and enjoy themselves.
Aelea is the leader of a Shade-worshiping cult. Years of practicing dark magic and rituals and inhaling black smoke has since disintegrated their wings and faces. They conceal the damage done by shrouding their wings with dyed feathers and leaves, and painting their faces with bright colors.
Aelea is the worst of them all (except for Relic perhaps). She has no regard for dragon life. Plus, she has forced the dragon Rauwan, a declared homosexual, into siring her children, being her courtesan, and being her private dancer.
But let's meet the others of the cult:
Woody doesn't look creepy at all. He's been picked a good number of times on Favorite Dragon threads. He looks like a good guy.
And he is, kind of. He's nice to everyone and he really enjoys music. Like, a lot. He's a musician. During the cult's dark rituals, it's him that provides the thrumming beat and pulsating rhythm. Think of a Disney acid trip--that's the kind of experience he causes with his tunes. And while he's playing, he won't care whether or not you're getting your innards removed.
Haruspex is the cult's cleric. He performs most of the rituals. He's an unnaturally hunched Spiral, so that when he flies or walks about his body is contorted into a mass of legs and wings. He seems to always be inhaling a sort of green vapor--and correlating with this, his underbelly glows a sickly green. His perpetually glazed eyes see all living things as just meat to be inspected, turned out, and burned on a stake.
Fellstar is a testament to what the cult can do. He was dead--they brought him back. But as in every horror story, he came back different. His skin clings to his bones. He hides his dull and decayed wings under bright orange feathers. The most chilling thing is that he exudes a black goo, so that his whole body is dripping with the tarlike stuff.
The cult believes his body holds the soul of a shade entity--he is perfect. The future of all of Sornieth.
If you're known to wander the lands alone, then you have a lot of things to watch out for, especially after glancing through this thread. Creepy dragons everywhere--but it's the dragons like Relic that you should really look out for. Relic loves to hunt lost things. She loves to hunt absentminded things. You'd best keep your wits about you.
Relic isn't a full dragon. She's an entity that chooses to take a draconic form. Half smoke and half cloak, her face (if she has one) is melded to a black mask that spits fire from its eye sockets, and half concealed under a ragged piece of black fabric--the better to sneak up on you with. The most physically real parts of her body are her hands and feet. Her hands have a powerful grip so that her prey won't escape her ripping hind claws.
