Royal Hornets are generally larger and meaner and are typically the ones to initiate attacks on unsuspecting clans and monsters. They also happen to be much more confident than the standard hornets. However, just like the standard hornets, they generally abide by the same color combination and are all XYY.

More pairs are still to be discovered and listed.
How the hornets came to be, is not entirely known. The most reliable story is that, of a dragon that merged with a hornet somehow. The mutation favored the size and the strength of the dragon, but the colors and behavior of the hornets. Over time, more dragons turned, for unknown reasons, and at times, clusters or 'hives' of dragons could be found.
Rumors went that these dragons swarmed the weaker ones, plundered and raided as they pleased, and often left a trail of destruction in their path. Trying to take one out, was almost more dangerous than being visited by them of their own free will. The story goes, that the other hornets sense when one of their own is in danger, and will head to their rescue if that's the case.
Specific few were able to catch and tame the hornets, with the means of using them for their own personal desires. This was a dangerous move, and the hornets fell in existense, and only few were able to be found around the land, for the longest time. This made the species vulnerable, and even more so to change.
However, now specialists have noticed a slow increase in the Hornets, though many remain unregistered still, they can be spotted anywhere, and has even evolved beyond their typical golden and black colors, to reds, browns, blacks and even some with green hues.
