THE LEVITOS PAGEANT

The scene sets on a cloudless day, with light dripping onto the city's archaic structures and splitting over the lazy bob of gondola bows. Elaborate bridges bend from end to end of the great canals, and the jaunty melody of gondoliers carry across the still, silent water, before then rushing out towards the sea. HOW IT WORKS:
  • Unlike ordinary fashion contests, this pageant is shaped according to the rules of dragon vs dragon games. Basically, each participant must enter a dragon to compete with the one above them. The next user will then judge which they like between the two, add a point to the winner, and enter a dragon of their own to best their choice.
[note that each player has a maximum of 3 dragons they can enter into the game (but only one dragon per theme). The themes will change everyday for the next 10 days, before the highest-scoring dragons move onto the finale round, which takes place for the 3 days after. See schedule below.] The dragon entry limit is for a smoother counting method, but does not limit you from entering into all the themes as long as you are okay with changing your dragon's appearance up a bit. If you'd rather your dragon keep to its current apparel, you may always save a picture and interchange the image in the bbcode with it.

  • Pointing system: Every new entrant starts with 0 points. Points are earned when one player's dragon is chosen over the other. For every time your dragon is chosen, you earn one point. Points accumulate per round, but will return to 0 for the next day. Scores per day will be recorded and the dragons with the highest total for all the days will pass onto the finals.

  • Entrance fee: a fee of 1kt per dragon Since the maximum number of dragons 1 player can enter is 3, if you would like to enter 3 dragons in the fee will be 3k. (they must be sent to @nemodave entitled "Pageant Fee" through PM only) The fee must be sent before or immediately after the first post. Should the payment be sent even a day late, all points that dragon has earned will be null and void.

  • skins are not permitted, but accents and skincets are.
  • each person must wait 2 posts after their last before re-entering their dragon.
  • the roleplay option is entirely optional- you may choose to write something about it, you may also decide to not. However, the person (or even people) which the judges decide have beautiful RPs, will receive a special prize.

  • only one dragon per user will be eligible for passing into the finals. That said, not all users will have a dragon in the finals- only dragons with the most points. (the number of dragons who will move up to the finals will depend on the number of entrants.]

Yet it's streets are waterlogged and empty, and though the city is just as beautiful as it is said in the legends that surround it, it could use some color! (Not to mention, [i]flowers[/i]) DAY 2 - MERCHANTS (APRIL 18) A city of trade would be nothing without the cycle of treasure and goods passing from hand to hand. With the ports open and the bustle of life flooding back into Levitos, the streets are now lined in a vast array of wares from all across Sornieth. The faces of experienced and apprenticed merchants alike peer from behind decorated storefronts- one is smoothing his silks; another is headed into a side alley with a yowling crate in her hands... DAY 3 - BEACH PARTY (APRIL 19) Surely, the menagerie of fantastical items and counterfeit products would lure a couple of tourists in, but undoubtedly Levitos' imports aren't the only main attraction. Because of the city's ideal in-the-middle-of-the-ocean location, every canal can be turned into a beach! (As long as dragons remember to steer clear of the gondolas) DAY 4 - ASSASSIN (APRIL 20) Riches only take a dragon so far, and with all the gold and glory sloshing in the capital of trade, it's no surprise that a little bag of money and the slash of a needle-sharp knife would bring about the existence of such unfriendly guests. Down the regal slopes of Levitan houses and flickering past column-lined courtyards, the locals whisper of bad blood and cloaked figures dancing in silver and ice. What are their allegiances? And whose faces hide behind those masks? DAY 5 - PROPHETS (APRIL 21) Water is a flight shrouded with mystery, notorious for housing some of Sornieth's most avid prophets- namely their deity, the Tidelord. Though down below in the Spiral Keep, his words are buoyant and lift from the seabed, melding into the very currents that rush through the canals of Levitos. Not only Water Flighters are prophets of course, for future and present and past are delicate things and none are sure how these dragons come into the know. Only one thing's for sure: something strange is going on here. DAY 6 - PIRATES (APRIL 22) Strange things indeed, that here on Levitos, the string of events are as unchanging as the sea. The merry tunes of gondoliers are overpowered by the rowdy song of the city's new guests. Their mighty vessels groan and sway, with masts that rise from the morning fog and sails that carry wind from isles beyond. Sets of eyes watch from the shadows of the deck, of which the ship's crew will let none pass. Might there lie treasure within the hull? Or could some long-forgotten treasure sit idly beneath the sands? DAY 7 - STEAMPUNK (APRIL 23) In the heart of the city, a transformation sets in- one of brazen flames and burnished clockwork, of gears and gizmos scattered on cobblestone paths. The picturesque Victorian setting peels back in favor of a rougher, darker atmosphere, and the bright lanterns dim into blown-glass baubles that dangle from scaled tails. Steam spills into the tainted air, and the waters have gone turbulent by some unseen force. A plague outbreak? A legendary creature of the endless blue? For why should the city fall into eclipse, if not for the end of the world? DAY 8 - DEEPSEA CREATURES (APRIL 24) The waters have silenced, the flames have sunk and the air has stilled. Though the festivities continue onward, once in awhile a goldolier cries out in sight of a trail of bubbles shearing the waves. At night the water glints in passing shadows, of eerily shaped objects lurking just beneath the surface, and lights of an unknown source pulse soundlessly before flickering out and into the abyss. One can only hope to see the beasts of legend, old as the risen city itself, kind of heart and gifted with magic, lest something more sinister swim this way. DAY 9 - ROYALTY (APRIL 25) In the dreary-eyed dawn a parade of carriages ratte into the city. Golden spokes flash beneath the star-speckled vehicles, whose velvet curtains are drawn back to behold the faces of the golden-spooned and the golden mouthed. A grand event will partake in the soon-approaching end of the festival, a farewell to the great sea-risen city, and of course the royals would dare not miss such fanciful displays. It would be shameful to skip the much awaited Marriage of the Sea. Yet even more shameful are the thoughts of some particularly envious monarchs, who would rather, perhaps, have the Tide to marry one of their own? DAY 10 - MASQUERADE (APRIL 26) A Levitan saying goes: "to love the land one must dance to the sea," and so bright laterns are strung from one window to the next, and banners are hung over balcony rails, and all about dragons of every shape and size flood towards the heart of the city where the ball is taking place. Amidst the flurry of tresses and airy laughter, dragons entwine into the constantly accelerating mass of an elaborate dance. Their faces are covered with masks, some golden and glittery and some sleek and mysterious. With the city entomed in such gathering, of bodies clashing and feet rising and the cacophony of sinister and savory, one can almost taste the possibilities of endlessness stretching, reaching, dissolving under the moon. [b]DAY 11 - WEDDING (APRIL 27)[/b] There is but the stretch of three measely nights and three measely days until the close of such festivities. The sea is rising, slowly, slipping into the stone streets and lapping playfully at the passing feet that walk too close to the canal's edge. No one speaks of this distruption- the city still stands, after all. What chatter that comes about is to the marriage. What would the bride wear? The groom? The Levitans take to the streets in bridal fashion, and tourists are much obluged to do the same, for the time of festivities will not silently slip back into the sea, but rather disperse with the splendor only the city of whispers can provide. APRIL 28-29 - ARTISTIC FREEDOM Anything goes in this battle of the best! Questions will be posted (one for each day. Mind you- answers will be judged by quality over quantity, so players still have a shot at the grand prize even if only one question had been answered). At the same time, the events will continue. Only the highest-ranking dragons are allowed to participate.[/center]

DAY 1 - SPRINGTIME (APRIL 17)
After years buried deep below, Levitos once again wakes from its barnacle-encrusted slumber and rises to welcome all of dragonkind. Yet it's streets are waterlogged and empty, and though the city is just as beautiful as it is said in the legends that surround it, it could use some color! (Not to mention, flowers)

DAY 2 - MERCHANTS (APRIL 18)
A city of trade would be nothing without the cycle of treasure and goods passing from hand to hand.

DAY 3 - BEACH PARTY (APRIL 19)
Surely, the menagerie of fantastical items and counterfeit products would lure a couple of tourists in, but undoubtedly Levitos' imports aren't the only main attraction. Because of the city's ideal in-the-middle-of-the-ocean location, every canal can be turned into a beach! (As long as dragons remember to steer clear of the gondolas)

DAY 4 - ASSASSIN (APRIL 20)
Riches only take a dragon so far, and with all the gold and glory sloshing in the capital of trade, it's no surprise that a little bag of money and the slash of a needle-sharp knife would bring about the existence of such unfriendly guests. Down the regal slopes of Levitan houses and flickering past column-lined courtyards, the locals whisper of bad blood and cloaked figures dancing in silver and ice. What are their allegiances? And whose faces hide behind those masks?

DAY 5 - PROPHETS (APRIL 21)
Water is a flight shrouded with mystery, notorious for housing some of Sornieth's most avid prophets- namely their deity, the Tidelord.

DAY 6 - PIRATES (APRIL 22)
Strange things indeed, that here on Levitos, the string of events are as unchanging as the sea.

DAY 7 - STEAMPUNK (APRIL 23)
In the heart of the city, a transformation sets in- one of brazen flames and burnished clockwork, of gears and gizmos scattered on cobblestone paths.

DAY 8 - DEEPSEA CREATURES (APRIL 24)
The waters have silenced, the flames have sunk and the air has stilled.

DAY 9 - ROYALTY (APRIL 25)
In the dreary-eyed dawn a parade of carriages ratte into the city.

DAY 10 - MASQUERADE (APRIL 26)
A Levitan saying goes: "to love the land one must dance to the sea," and so bright laterns are strung from one window to the next, and banners are hung over balcony rails, and all about dragons of every shape and size flood towards the heart of the city where the ball is taking place.

DAY 11 - WEDDING (APRIL 27)
There is but the stretch of three measely nights and three measely days until the close of such festivities.

APRIL 28-29 - ARTISTIC FREEDOM
Anything goes in this battle of the best! Questions will be posted (one for each day. Mind you- answers will be judged by quality over quantity, so players still have a shot at the grand prize even if only one question had been answered). At the same time, the events will continue. Only the highest-ranking dragons are allowed to participate.

She was too shy and believed she would have no chance, not only because she was too skinny in her eyes (well, she's a spiral, alright) but because she firmly believed her shadow eyes would be a turn down during the water festival. Still, she knew that with her bosses putting up an event themselves, all of the employees would be here. That included Shiso. She tried to find him on the crowd and just as they were to announce her name, she noticed neither him nor any of her co-workers was there at all. She should have imagined. They were likely too busy preparing the Waltz. With butterflies on her stomach and her anxiety boiling up, the Judges called for her. She swallowed and tried to put up a strong face but feared she would gag from anticipation. "Hi. My n-name is Ursa. I'm the third generation of my family to be born in my lair. I'm a therapist assistant and I sell bath bombs made of dried flower petals... I volunteer for hatchling entertaining and have travelled to two allied clans, one in Plague and one in Light." - She said and before she could even process her speech (had she gagged after all?) she was being pushed out of the stage for the next dragons. Well, that didn't go that bad but she was shaking. She could use some confort food, however. Pizza, if possible.
