It is said that the Lightweaver blessed the statues with eternal life, so as to never have their cloudy forms dissipate with the strong winds of the Windswept Plateau. The Windsinger loved his statuesque clouds and took them with him wherever he went for a time, they were his silent companions. After a century of being kept in a satchel, constantly being exposed to magical essences from around Sornieth as they were taken across the realm, the statues began to seemingly come to life, but their existence made them depressed in the end. They could not feel the wind, they could truly see the world and they could not truly love anything. Seeing them come alive in a such a slow and sad way, the Windsinger felt great pity for them. They were trapped in almost unmoving bodies, they couldn't experience the wind and world like he could. So the Windsinger decided to breathe life into them, while they were not his children, he was overwhelmed with a fatherly belief in their will to live and hoped they find themselves in their new bodies. He breathed life into the 12 different cloudy bodies. Each cloud that received life that day, became a new variant of the Skyborne. They spend most of their time of the wing, only landing to drink, sleep or breed. When their insect food supplies dwindle and become scarce in the colder months, multiple flocks will gather together into great swarms, sometimes big enough to block out the sun, and will move on to other territories in their search for food and warmer weather. They follow the same migration routes to their destinations every year, but when the seasons change to spring and the weather begins to warm, Birds of Fae return to their windy homelands where their favoured nesting materials are found in plentiful supply, to breed and raise their young. At least until dragons continuing the battles of the gods interrupt that peace, sending new clans diving for cover. The Windsinger fought as well as any god, after all his battle with the Tidelord created the Stormcatcher, but he also recognized that the other gods were peers and possible friends. That knowledge and a love of the Winds took him away from his realm most the time, leaving it to the dragons forming clans there. He did occasionally waft through the Windswept Plateau, and one day he witnessed the aftermath of battle that had washed over the Zephyr Steppes: blood staining the bamboo, broken kites, loved ones weeping tears of mourning, and lost spirits of the brave warriors tethered to the battlefield. The howling cries on the wind could not go ignored in what should be a land of joy and merrymaking. He created a mighty tornado that temporary scattered their enemies whilst calling to his warriors and those that had lost so much. Much of the land had larger clans that could defend themselves, and his people were proud to be able to hold their own when battling, but the Zephyr Steppes were a place of peace and playful winds. They were not to be torn and bloodied. The battles should take place among those warriors who chose to face them. Additionally, others just referred to them as the Zephyr Dragons due to their supposed stomping-grounds being on the Zephyr Steppes.
One dragon set out to either prove, or disprove the existence of this Subspecies. After months of careful tracking she had returned with a full notebook of documentation. She found them! They were real, and there was much to share about their hidden culture!

8: Peacekeepers Created by @Zenhugz Check thread for more information on lore and variants.
OrzhJeZ.png
Lore:The Zephyr Steppes is the most peaceful place in all the world.

Requirements: Splash to Seafoam Crystal / Goldenrod Facet / Splash to Seafoam, any gene
Primary color must match the Tertiary color to be considered a Peacekeeper.
Wind Flight only, no breed restrictions

Lore: An oddly conspicuous and toxic subspecies, due to their diet of puddlehoppers and dreamwakers. They spend most of their time in the Bamboo falls and the Mire. The males are quite territorial and will poison you intentionally if you mess with them. They like to hide their eggs in puddles of water that collect in tangled tree roots and split bamboo stalks. A migratory lot, they will nest in the Zephyr Steppes, and once the young have grown, move back to the Labyrinth.

Requirements:
Standard: Storm to Teal Cherub / Crimson Toxin or Hypnotic / Crimson Underbelly or Glimmer / Wind or Nature Flight
Ice: Ice Cherub / Sky Toxin / White Underbelly or Glimmer / Ice Flight

Skydancers hail from the Reedcleft Ascent within the Windswept Plateau. The strong connection to the sky stays with them, and, if the weather holds while they're in their eggs, it imprints on them. Requirements: Goldenrod to Gold Crystal / Goldenrod to Gold Facet / Avocado to Honeydew Glimmer Wind Spirals only
Lore: Dancing Petals are a subspecies of butterfly-winged dragons who are perfectly adapted to the peaceful and relaxed winds of the Zephyr Steppes. Their beautiful wings shine in the sun and cast beams of coloured light down on the earth beneath them. Their wings are quite delicate and will tear if exposed to the harsh winds of the Twisting Crescendo. However, despite their fragility, their wings allow them to maneuver the soft breezes of the Steppes expertly while they tend to the flowers that grow there. Dancing Petals are truly a dazzling sight as they glide across the skies.

Requirements: Honeydew to Spring Petals / Grapefruit Butterfly / Grapefruit to Banana Glimmer

subspecies_windcarved_rocks_by_shozurei-dahr85a.png
Lore: They were the first set of stone statues one would come upon before reaching the cradle. They served as Guardians, Warriors and Protectors as well as a warning to those that threatened to venture further and cause harm to the first Wind Eggs...
Their creator is unknown. They were once believed to be carved by the same hands as the first and original Windcarved Sentinels but discoveries have proven this not to be true. These Guardians were carved much later then their cousins.

Requirements: Grey to Coal Cherub / Seafoam to Jade Shimmer, Stripes, or Seraph / Seafoam to Jade Underbelly or Glimmer
Wind, Nature, and Earth Flights only, Coatls only
This is not a variant of the original Windcarved Sentinels, but a related subspecies created with the blessing of the original's creator.

F0mCXdz.png

Lore: All Skydancers are in-tune with the the magic around them, but in some, it goes even further. Their connection is so strong it effects them even in their eggs. While they are still too young to understand the emotions of those around them, they do pick up on the magic of their ancestors flight. Skydancers hail from the Reedcleft Ascent within the Windswept Plateau. The strong connection to the sky stays with them, and, if the weather holds while they're in their eggs, it imprints on them. While mainly on their wings, it does effect certain variants whole bodies. They are very social and love to meet other Skydancers with different patterns. One of their favorite things to do when they meet is to confuse everyone by mixing their different wing patterns to mimic the clouds while they fly. But, when the weather matches their wings, they like to hide in the matching sky and scare flying friends and clan mates.

Requirements: Clear Sky: Sky Iridescent / Sky Shimmer / Sky Glimmer
Partially Cloudy: Sky Iridescent / Storm to Sapphire or Cobalt to Stonewash or Caribbean to Turquoise Paint / Sky Underbelly
Scattered Showers: Sky Iridescent / White to Shadow or Navy or Overcast to Azure Paint / Sky Underbelly
This subspecies has variants. Check the thread for more information.

Lore: There’s a region in Sornieth known as StarWind Bay, or is it WindStar Bay? No one can remember because it’s been the site of a long war between Arcane and Wind flights. In this waterway, neither the Arcanist nor the Windsinger have sovereignty more than the other. Which has lead to much chaos between the two flights. In an attempt to lessen the dispute, they compete annually in a Dominance Battle, with the winner having the bay named for their flight: “StarWind” named for Arcane and “Windstar” named for Wind.
A small group of bogsneak dragons inhabit this area. They are known as “Spiny Melons”. These dragons were nearly caught up in the middle of this silly feud. Not feeling compelled to choose between either flight, they have decided the best course of action for their breed is to stay neutral. This decision was not hard for them, with their natural coloring being neither Arcane nor Wind but a combination of both.

Requirements: Watermelon Jaguar / Radioactive Rosette / Any color Spines
Arcane or Wind Bogsneaks only
