Our first foray into the wilds to scavenge was rough, but we're finding our rhythm. A dragon named "Moon" has joined us, apparently he strayed too far from his home clan and lost his way or something. He is a wind dragon, and I'm told they're a bit flighty.
I found an egg. It's stony, almost seems petrified. I almost mistook it for a rock, but there's a strange warmth about it. We desperately need more help around here. I think I'll hatch it.[/font]

Over in the driest corner of the grotto, a small tundra squirmed about in a bed of stone and hay. Just before Whisper had curled up to sleep the night before, the broken surface of the egg started to fracture. She had decided to name the young creature [i]Gaea[/i].
What did tundras eat, anyway? The young guardian had no idea if she was cut out for motherhood, but it was now being thrust upon her anyway. Despite her anxieties, she felt a strange pull toward Gaea. Even looking her way made her happy.[/font]

This is real now. I have someone totally dependent and defenseless I must protect. I hope I can raise her right.
Every time I look at her I'm reminded of my own origins. The clan hatched me from a scavenged egg, too. I see so much of myself in Gaea.[/font]

However, in the thick of the foray, he had also learned he had the capability to project some rather strong light magic, which saved not only himself but Whisper, too. He hoped that counted for something. As he nursed his wounds, the gaoler pushed some of his ragged hair out of his eyes to get a better look at what the others were doing.
Over in a separate corner of the lair, Moon hummed to himself and wove a small fishing net. his hide was pristine in more than one way--almost pure white, but also completely devoid of scratches or bumps like his compatriots. He seemed to have this strange knack of avoiding danger. Eclipse was unsure if whether that affected his rather carefree demeanor, or if the effect was the other way around.
Lastly, Whisper played in the corner with Gaea. The small tundra cub pounced after the large guardian's tail tip, one moment just under her paws and the next, barely out of reach. She giggled, and the sound echoed through the cavern like chimes. Eclipse sighed and thought of his own children, many of which who had been rehomed before even being given names. He regretted that, and regretted not taking the opportunity to spend some time with them before they left. Maybe, with Gaea, he'd have a new opportunity; but that was only if Whisper even let either of them within her broad wingspan of the child. Being a female guardian especially, the instinct to protect was not surprising, but Eclipse had his suspicions that there was more to it than that. The three adults hadn't even been together for a week, and despite being a rather coordinated fighting team, there was no real trust amongst them. Especially with Moon, who seemed to be a bit of a loner.
Eclipse sprawled out on the cave floor, letting his belly rest against the cool stone as he crossed his forepaws, one over the other. He was starting to get used to being damp and it didn't bother him so much anymore.

There were a couple of close calls yesterday, but Eclipse pulled us out by slamming the thing in the face with the brightest ball of light I have ever seen. His face is always covered by that shaggy fur, so I guess I never knew what flight he was--but this answers that question. I suppose with a name like Eclipse it was either light or shadow.
Ive gained a certain amount of respect for him since he has started to step up. He's still shy, and hesitant--but I guess he is after all the sun that hides behind the moon.
Speaking of Moon... I can't get a grip on this guy. I'm starting to understand why he might have left his old clan. He's airy, that's for sure... But in a way that's almost ignorant of others. I'm not sure if he understands the concept of a "team". Nevertheless, this ability--if you can even call it that--means often times the enemies don't even realize he's there. Perhaps this can be used to our advantage.[/font]

The team pushed further on through the woods, collecting any useful material they could and fending off dangerous creatures that were occasionally startled out of the bush. As they pushed on northward, the trees began to shift from a natural green to dark purples, a visual cue that they were now in shadow territory.
"Perhaps we've gone too far," Whisper spoke. "Yet I don't feel like we've been out that long," she added, looking up at the sky. It too, was also turning purple.
"Perhaps there's somewhere we can camp for the night." The others nodded, eager to put the day behind them and rest. Whisper could barely hear the rhythmic trickling of a stream and set her course.[/font]

Two imperials sat outside it, one noticing the small group of travelers immediately and the other entranced by some sort of orb. Whisper stepped forward, greeting the two.
"I presume you've come to have your fortune told?" Said the male with an indignant huff.
"We're seeking a place of refuge for the evening," said Whisper. "Although," she added, "If you're offering..." Whisper was a water dragon, a daughter of the Tidelord. She believed in divination, perhaps this would help set some of her fears about Gaea to rest.
"We've had a recent hatch in our clan. Her name is Gaea, she's very small. A tundra. Blue and green, like myself, but reverse. A child of earth. Could you.... Tell me her future?" Whisper asked.[/font]

- - - - - -Fortunes - - - - -You grabbed a Terra Shell from the pile.
- - - -Forest gathering was going well, better than Whisper ever expected. The team pushed further on through the woods, collecting any useful material they could and fending off dangerous creatures that were occasionally startled out of the bush. As they pushed on northward, the trees began to shift from a natural green to dark purples, a visual cue that they were now in shadow territory.
"Perhaps we've gone too far," Whisper spoke. "Yet I don't feel like we've been out that long," she added, looking up at the sky. It too, was also turning purple.
"Perhaps there's somewhere we can camp for the night." The others nodded, eager to put the day behind them and rest. Whisper could barely hear the rhythmic trickling of a stream and set her course.

- - - -After only a few minutes, the stream broke into a clearing where at the other side, a cave could be seen. Two imperials sat outside it, one noticing the small group of travelers immediately and the other entranced by some sort of orb. Whisper stepped forward, greeting the two.
"I presume you've come to have your fortune told?" Said the male with an indignant huff.
"We're seeking a place of refuge for the evening," said Whisper. "Although," she added, "If you're offering..." Whisper was a water dragon, a daughter of the Tidelord. She believed in divination, perhaps this would help set some of her fears about Gaea to rest.
"We've had a recent hatch in our clan. Her name is Gaea, she's very small. A tundra. Blue and green, like myself, but reverse. A child of earth. Could you.... Tell me her future?" Whisper asked.

30 battles today, no real decent drops but the team is level 7 now. I'm getting a bit worried about the level gap between Gaea and the adults, but my hands are tied as far as adding new members for the clan. It's grind for an egg, which will lead to more leveling as a result, or wait for a familiar drop from Pinkerton. Fingers crossed!

Buying dragons from the AH is only allowed when specified by Tar's Pinkerlocke rules.
You can only buy one egg a month (resets on the 13th)
HR: Due to the high mortality rate, dragons can only be gened or scattered after reaching level 25 unless other rules allow.
HR: Dragons who are being bred may optionally have a tertiary gene applied before nesting, so their offspring will have an expressed tertiary. (Added 7/23)
For every egg found, whether in the coliseum or by scavenging, you may purchase one breed change for any dragon.
You cannot gather food, you must grind for it in the coli.
If a dragon faints in the coli, it's dead. Exalt.
HR: Fleeing from the coli is allowed (after all, the dragons would be able to make this decision) but if the team flees, they drop all their earnings from the day. All coli items earned are then forfeit and must be either hoard sold or sold via the AH (for rare drops like eggs, which are worth more than their hoard price).
HR: Dragons who reach level 25 are considered sagely and of priceless worth to the clan for their knowledge and experience, just like the dragons before the fall of the clan. Their participation in the coliseum is no longer required, but optional, and are retired from death streaks.
