I wrote this as a part of this thread talking about the many adventures of Regan the travelling Tundra! It’s an open letter from one of her children who resides (for the moment) in The Lair of Many References.
Dear Regan,
Hiya Mommy! It’s me, Wanderer! You might remember me because I was a lot smaller than my brother, Adventurer. I haven’t really gotten that much bigger since you last saw me, but Daddy says that means nothing as long as you have a good heart and a fighting spirit! I dunno what that last thing means cos I don’t fight a lot (except my brother sometimes) but anyways. Life without you has made Daddy a little bit sad, but he wanted me to tell you that he hopes you’re living your best life and he’s doing all he can to give me and Adventurer the best start in life.
Adventurer’s gone now, apprenticed to another Wanderer like me! He keeps in touch and comes to see Daddy and Me when Daddy has a big-ish performance. Daddy tried to get us both into theatre but we’ve always wanted to get out and see the world, like you Mommy. That’s why I hang out with Indiana a lot. Uncle Erebus says I shouldn’t because ‘that Pearlcatcher is Trouble with a capital T’ but he tells such wonderful stories, Mommy. He tells me all about his travels and that some meanies are trying to steal his familiar that he raised from a tiiiny egg. He’s teaching me how to be a real ar-kee-oli-jist (archeologist) like he is! I dunno how to make the rope loop thingy yet cos it keeps wrapping around my feet and then I trip over, but I know the different kinds of bones and Indy says I’m great at fitting in small spaces! He doesn’t like it when I call him Indy but Indiana’s kinda hard to say when you’re holding things in your mouth so I do it anyways :3
Indy says that one day he might take me on adventures with him once this bird thing’s ‘died down’. I’m super excited! Daddy is too I think. He looks at me sometimes like Uncle Erebus does though. Do you know what it means? I do like Indy a lot Mommy. I don’t think he’s as bad as the others say he is. Adventurer says that I should ‘follow my dreams’ anyways so my mind’s made up! I’ll still write though, to you and to Daddy cos I love you so so much. I hope we can meet one day and get to know each other better Mommy. I’ll teach you the rope-loop trick, I promise!
