- they both begin to get too hungry, so mikaela comes up with the idea of creating a city in which she will make those who are lower-class sacrifice themselves to her under the guise of "exaltation", serving their deity
- she doesn't tell hime her intentions behind building the city, and she helps her found it over some ruins
- they name it aureum
- city starts gaining population, quickly becoming one of the largest cities of Sornieth
- mikaela obtains a sanguine star, an ancient artifact which grants its holder god-like powers and immortality. however, it attracts other sanguine star holders (demi-gods)
- demi gods start coming to aureum, some of them deciding to work with mikaela and some trying to overthrow her, however, they are all aware of her vampiric nature
- most notable demi-god is pride, a serial killer who's close to figuring out the sanguine star's origins and found out that in order to access its full potential, one must infuse it with a drop of a deceased dragon's blood, and each time it has to be a new dragon. mikaela and pride decide to work together

Aureum is a city founded on ancient ruins and rebuilt by an odd dragon with odd motives. The dragon who now goes by Mikaela, though it may not be her true name, is the founding queen of the city, and her history corresponds to Aureum's.
While on the surface, it is a city built upon the pillars of community and wealth, there is a dark secret surrounding it, one that only the members of the inner walls know. The queen is not an ordinary dragon, as she was born from blood magic and cursed at birth. Due to a sorcerer's greed and irresponsibility, his magic transferred into an unhatched egg and made the hatchling require blood to survive. And so, that dragon built Aureum in order to lure travellers in, and make sure they don't ever escape again. Particular dragons are spared, however, and they are made citizens of the inner walls. Those dragons should consider themselves lucky, as they're generally off limits to Mikaela unless they offer themselves to her, though she's made it a point not to drink such dragons until they die.

A pair of light golden eyes pierces through the darkness, glancing from left to right, scrutinizing the shrubbery surrounding them and, like a radar, looked for any sign of movement. Everything was still, quiet; as if it was afraid of those piercing eyes, praying not to get noticed by them. The tension in the air could be cut with a knife, only amplified by the chilling silence of the night. Suddenly, a noise echoed through the forest. Rattle. The eyes jerked towards the noise seemingly at the speed of light, leaping towards it though quickly followed by a disappointed huff. Spread across the barren dirt was a baby pearlcatcher, seemingly abandoned by its parents. It was sleeping soundly, ignorant as to the threat looming over it's head.
The brown fae sighed loudly, blinking at the pearlcatcher with impatience. "And what do I do with you? Even I can't kill a baby..." Attempting to wake the pearlcatcher, she nudged it quite harshly with her hands. Two little flame-colored eyes began to open, staring at the fae looking at them with curiosity. It is said that eyes are a window to the soul and these eyes showed innocence, purity and hope. Such are the eyes of a soul untainted by the outside world. A blank canvas, free of thoughts, opinions and outside influence. The fae tightened her eyes, opening her jaws and biting into the pearlcatcher's neck. A muffled screech echoed throughout, though quickly faded as the pearlcatcher fell unconcious.
The pearlcatcher began to wake, opening it's eyes to the beautiful apricot hues of the rising sun. The air was crisp, as if there was a light gale carrying the scents of spring from the nearby flower fields to the forest in which the fae and pearlcatcher were located in. The fae was staring at the pearlcatcher, waiting for her to awaken. Once she did, the fae nonchalantly started to introduce herself. "Good morning. I'm Mikaela. I drink dragons' blood to survive. Now you do too. Do you have a name?" The pearlcatcher's fiery eyes widened with shock, her jaw slightly dropping and the mane on her neck rising up. "No? Well, now you're Hime. Remember it."

The smooth, velvety sound of noir jazz consumed the Greatwyrm Pub, filling the room with a unique, aloof atmosphere which drew in criminals like a flytrap drew in flies. Good place, just dirty enough to be cozy. The regulars all resembled each other aesthetically and in the way they behaved, all of them adorning black ensembles contrasted with the white mist coming from their thick cigars. The Greatwyrm was one of the last places which still allowed smoking inside, and as most gangsters liked their tobacco, the pub became a frequent place of meetup. Despite the stigma that the pub was a dangerous place to be in as a regular individual, the few regulars which weren't part of the Mob quite enjoyed the loose atmosphere. Such was true of Pride, a lean, muscly Wildclaw with tan, brown skin and piercing plum-colored eyes. Often accompanied with a few young female drakes, he would always occupy the table in the back, hidden away from the entrance. Privacy was a must for him, especially if he was meeting with a business partner. Though, on the surface, Pride appeared as an ordinary business man who had no affiliations with the mafia, a lot of his hobbies were... less than moral. Not much was known about him at the time, especially since he was quite new to the town. What was known about him, however, is that he was dashingly handsome and charismatic, securing admirers left and right, even acquiring a couple enemies by stealing their lady-friends from them.
Elliot, on the other hand, was bashful and introverted. After the previous barman suddenly dissappeared without a word, Elliot took the opportunity to secure himself one of the best paying jobs in the town. Not a lot of people were willing to even step foot into the Greatwyrm because of its reputation, but Elliot figured that if he were to simply keep his head down, he might be left alone. His plan worked for the first couple of days, though he would soon realize his mistake. He had served a particular mobster a couple too many shots, and the brute decided to confront Elliot, accusing him of being a spy for the sherrif because of his quiet nature. Elliot tried to politely refuse the claim, explaining that he just needs money to move out of the town. The fear in his eyes was not well masked, and the mobster took this as a sign of dishonesty. He lifted his arm up, the sleeve of his pinstriped black suit revealing a clenched fisted with the word "DUCKY" tattoed on his fingers, each finger representing one letter. Before he could manage to throw his punch, a raspy voice filled the room, quieting everyone down. Obviously the voice was well known to the guests since they all hung their head down upon hearing it, though Elliot didn't quite understand its significance. "Oi, oi, oi!" A wildclaw began to approach the bar, all eyes glued on him. "Now, Ducky, waddya doin' going around bullying kids?" He growled out, immediately following it up by a beckon "And say, don't we have some unfinished business? How about you sit at my table and sober up, yeah?" The brute who was apparently named Ducky flared his nostrils, lifting his head up in an attempt to overpower the wildclaw. "This kid may be ratting us out, Pride! And I ain't got any mo' business with you," he decided to lower his voice for the next part, "...I don't need that crap in my life." Pride's face took on a sinister expression. "You don't need to worry about the kid. Why don't you call it a night? Your wife told me you ain't home a lot these days." He muttered out, glancing suggestively at the exit. Ducky hesitated for a moment, though after exchanging a single second stare with Pride, jerked himself in the direction of the exit, sighing quietly in defeat and sauntering to the exit. Elliot was awe-struck the entire time. The only thing he could take from the exchange is that he shouldn't get himself on the wildclaw's radar. The decision would quickly be made obsolete when Pride slowly turned his head towards the bar, glancing up and down the young, bright wildclaw. Opening his mouth slightly, he quickly took a look at the rest of the bar, glaring back at the barboy when the guests returned to their normal routines. "I'm Pride. What's your name?" Elliot gulped, averting his gaze from the wildclaw. "Elliot." He spat out hesitantly. "Elliot, huh? How about I take you out for drinks sometimes? Someplace a little classier, yeah? To apologize for my little friend's rudeness. He's a piece of work, that Ducky." Elliot knew he couldn't say no, dragons like Pride don't like to be refused. On the other hand, he knew saying yes would make his life way more complicated then it needs to be. At the same time, Pride is dashingly handsome and he did save him from a nasty beating. "I-y-yeah, sure." Pride clicked his tongue, turning away from the bar though not before leaving a piece of paper with an adress written on it and flashing a smile. Elliot stared at the wildclaw until he was out of sight, and then glanced at the paper. "Meet me at this address tomorrow at 8. Wear a suit."

The rythmic sound of crickets collided with the ceaseless noise of the nearby waterfall, creating the perfect noise guise for someone to sneak up on Beatrix without her noticing. For this reason, the woodland witch had created a spell which would alert her if anyone had stepped foot in a radius of 50m around her wooden home. It had worked well, mostly. There was a certain queen of the nearby city which seemed to not trigger the spell, and the sorceress simply couldn't figure out why. The spell was set to trigger in the presence of any dragons, yet... doesn't matter! A problem for another day. Today, she was expecting a visit from Qismah, the aforementioned queen's little royal pet. Beatrix had taken quite a liking to the dragon, not only because of their magical properties but because of their quiet, diligent yet very friendly disposition. Qismah also seemed to not get noticed by her protection spell, though it was quite obvious that the spiral wasn't really that much of a dragon. Slit pupils and a glass stomach filled with a magic liquid aren't quite properties that you'd see on on a typical, egg-born dragon. Moreover, Qismah also tended to make noises which regular dragons don't have the vocal chords for such as chirps and odd whistles.
And so, Trixie had created a entirely different system of security against dragons like Mikaela or Qismah. Though quite simple, it proved effective. All around her house, hanging from tree to tree, were extraordinarily thin spider silk strings with magic chimes hung on them. They are given the property of being miniscule yet still producing sound as if they were normal-size. As she was expecting Qismah to come pick something up for the queen, she wasn't surprised when she heard the melody of chimes early in the morning. Laying down a herb she was grinding down, she headed towards the entrance to greet her favorite cryptid. It didn't take long for her face to shift from an excited expression to one that was wary and to an extent fearful. Accompanying the odd spiral was the queen herself, Mikaela. She had only come to Trixie once, before she 'acquired' Qismah and forced her to pick up medicine and herbs from the witch. Beatrix would have liked to keep it that way, though obviously the queen had other intentions. Qismah let out a happy chirp and immediately ran to the woodland witch, wrapping herself around her and letting out a content purr. Beatrice flashed a kind smile to the spiral before fixing her gaze back on the queen. "How may I be of help today, Mikaela?" wip
