In an era long forgotten, there was an expansive temple , intricately carved inside and out with towers proudly reaching to the heavens. Centuries old, this great temple was a work of art. Elaborate murals and patters were carved upon its chambers' walls inside, while elaborate statues carved from the very stones that were its exterior were kissed by the wind. Countless generations had taken their first and final breaths within its stone walls, the temple being tended with great care by all who resided within. In each room and each corridor, enlightened souls conversed, prayed, and sang praises to golden idols of their beloved deities. They had no need to fear for their safety, for they were protected by adamant stone walls and the most devoted gatekeepers.
To many wary travelers, it was a much anticipated oasis after traveling by the daylight.
But with a flash of light one day, this was gone in a matter of seconds.
A gentle paw wipes away the dust cloaking lone fragment of what one would assume to have once been apart of a mural. The carving had been harshly weathered and was almost completely erased from the stone. The fragment was lifted upwards and close to a snout. The cold winter air gave form to the gentle rush of air from the snout's nostrils. A pair of light green eyes, partially protected by a pair of glasses, squinted to be able to see the faded markings better. A second paw scratched at one of the many mildly irritating itches beneath a sea of fur. "Curse this dry winter air" A hushed voice muttered. Turning to a parchment on the side, a finger hovered over the scripture, deciphering what little writing she could make out from the stone. Her light green eyes widened. Quickly grabbing her belongings and the fragment, she raced down the ruined corridor, a smile on her face and a feeling of accomplishment in her heart.
"Hera, you've done it again!"
