Corsair’s blades are rare and quite unique in their design. When not in use, it appears as a simple glass bottle filled with liquid. However, when the bottle is uncorked, the liquid within flows out and coalesces into a cutlass whose blade is made entirely of that liquid. If the bottle is re-corked, the blade disappears back inside the bottle.
Said liquid can vary in nature, though most-commonly used is stingray venom, which can bring a swift and agonizing death to the enemy.
Corsair’s blades are highly sought-after by seafaring dragons, especially pirates, due to the blade’s easily-concealed appearance. They have been known to wash up on shores or be scavenged from shipwrecks, and occasionally are mistaken for mere flotsam.[/columns]
The complete process of creating a corsair’s blade has long faded from common knowledge, though many sages of the water flight still recall scraps of knowledge.
The interior of the glass bottle used in a corsair’s blade is coated in an extremely thin, almost invisible layer of nickel, to protect the bottle from the liquid (oftentimes venom or acid). Additionally, years of being tossed by the waves may give the bottle an opaque frost or encrust it in barnacles.

[nextcol][item=Stardust sap lamp][item=Ghostly aura][nextcol]Information
A phylactery lantern houses a restless spirit bound by its creator. The imprisoned soul retains its memories and can communicate telephathically with its holder, making it a useful companion/guide for dungeon-delivers. The light it produces shifts eeriely between shades of purple and blue, and a vague dragonlike silhouette is sometimes visible inside the lantern. It can be activated by speaking the word ‘awaken’ while holding the lantern.
Each phylactery lantern possesses a dragon-level sentience and retains the personality it had in life.
The process of binding a soul to a phylactery lantern has a small chance of stirring the Shade from its sleep, and even the smallest mistake can have disastrous effects.[/columns]
Due to its chance of stirring the Shade, the creation of a phylactery lantern is considered heavily taboo and is not often attempted.
A phylactery lantern must be magically fortified and inset with an eye-like jewel that allows the soul within to see its surroundings. Such jewels can be looted from storm seekers.
Before beginning the process, a rune circle must be inscribed in nocturnal dust, to prevent the escape of the soul to be bound. If a mistake is made in the making of the circle, the soul may escape, or worse.
Place the lantern in the circle and summon the soul you wish to bind to the lantern. In order to do this, you must know the true name of the soul (a nickname or title will not do) and have some degree of necromancy magic at your disposal.

[item=Blue Dragon Seaslug][nextcol][item=Seaside Kelpie Mane]
[item=Vial of River Muck][nextcol]Information
Mermaid's Breath has been a way to allow non-native dragons breathe underwater for centries. It has also been one of the most dangerous concoctions for the same amount of time. While fairly simple to make, the potion has caused many problems over the years. Many dragons crave the feeling of the ocean floor, and will do anything to gain the experience.
The warning on the label of this serum is there for a reason. If more than the recommended dose is taken, it can cause the dragon to no longer be able to breathe above the water, successfully banishing them to the seafloor, forever. There have been cases where others have used this in order to poison their superiors.
While the potion is a fun way to experience the unknown, the history of it plagues the minds of those who take it.[/columns]
Ingredients
8 Reflective Fish Scales
1 Blue Dragon Seaslug
3 Vials of River Muck
1 Hair Strand from Seaside Kelpie Mane
1. Grind the fish scales to a fine powder. Pour the River Muck into a large cauldron.
2. Gradually add the scales into the River Muck and boil.
3. Dice the seaslug into decent sized pieces.
4. Add the seaslug pieces to the cauldron and leave to simmer.
5. Once the mixture turns slightly goopy, quickly add the hair into the cauldron.
6. When the potion becomes a brilliant turquoise, remove heat and let sit for seven nights.

By GlacierWinds
[columns][item=Weathered Grimoire][item=Messengers Scroll][item=Carpenter Wax][nextcol][item=Used Cartography Ink][item=Ancestral Incense][item=Wind Runestone][nextcol]Information
Every dragon is able to draw upon their natural elemental magic to some degree, however some may choose to seek mastery over this particular type of spell casting. Thus, the first step to becoming an Elemental Caster is to create a journal to store your research and spells. Every caster will draw upon their magic a little bit differently than others, so it's crucial to take notes on what works for you. Additionally, the caster's tome acts as a weak foci that helps focus your magic into powerful spells. It's not uncommon to see an experienced Elemental Caster to have multiple tomes stored away in their library, each one more cluttered with loose leaf papers and ink splatters than the last.
While another caster cannot use someone else's tome, these books hold a wealth of knowledge, and are often coveted by museums and treasure hoarders.[/columns]
Ingredients and Procedure;
1. One large, blank journal. Something that you are willing to keep on your person for a long time.
2. One bundle of ancestral incense.
3. Ten pieces of your element's festival currency.
4. An ink pot with enough ink to write your full name, and a working quill
5. One runestone of your element.
6. OPTIONAL: carpenter's wax
First, find a clear, circular area about two feet wide. Place your journal in the center and spread the ten pieces of currency around the journal evenly. NOTE: Glowing Embers or Eternal Snow can be spread out in a loose circle around the journal instead. Make sure that you have at least one piece of the currency left over.
Second, grind the remaining currency into a find powder or mush and mix it with the ink. This may prove much more difficult for some due to the difficulty of grinding down Deepearth Geodes, Immaculate Tablets, and Charged Sprockets. Add a few drops of purified water to a Bladed Flatleaf, All-Seeing Shroom, Shimmering Pinecone, or Messengers Scroll to create the needed mush.
Third, write your full name on the first page of the journal with the ink. A nickname or title will not be suitable in this instance.
Fourth, place the elemental runestone above the cover before the ink has finished drying. Light the ancestral incense.
Finally, focus on channeling your magic into the runestone. This will draw the small amounts of magic found in the elemental currency into it, and will imbue the journal with a natural resistance to your elemental magic. The currency will vanish, having been absorbed into the book. The tome may take on physical aspects to represent this, and additionally, the journal has now become bound to you; only you will be able to cast the spells that you write down in its pages.
Additionally, you can use carpenter's wax to help protect the book to water if you so choose. Let it be known that a water elemental caster's tome will already be resistant to water damage.
If holding just one of these makes you feel knowledgable, imagine how wise you'd be if you had a hoard filled with them!

By Keelhaul
[columns][item=opal cobra]
[item=Celestine geode]
[nextcol][item=Royal oyster]
[item=Rosy gypsum][nextcol]Information
Opaline tears is a type of venom used to produce an effect similar to the gembond gene, causing a dragon to gradually grow clusters of glittering gems on its hide. It may be either injury-inflicted or consumed.
Two variants of opaline tears exist. The first is often used voluntarily by dragons, as the result can be relatively controlled compared to the second type and can even have beneficial effects, such as raised defense and aesthetically-pleasing gems.
The second variant of opaline tears is sometimes used in assassinations, and causes a gradual but irreversible crystallization of the internal organs. Earth dragons are innately immune to the effects.
The color of the gems produced can be changed by adding crushed powder of the desired gem. Diamond dust will produce diamond gems, onyx will produce onyx, and so on.
[/columns]
PROCEDURE
The primary ingredient in opaline tears is the venom of an opal cobra. Such venom can be harvested from both living and deceased cobras, though the older the cobra, the more potent the venom.
Take the venom and mix it with an equal amount of liquid nacre, which can be harvested from most species of oysters. If you wish to tint the venom a certain color, mix finely-ground gemstones of the desired color with the venom. Note that it is not recommended to use tinted opaline tears in assassinations, as the color may make the venom easier to detect.
If you wish to limit the effects of the opaline tears, allow the mixture to sit for a period of time. The longer you leave it, the weaker the effect. Opaline tears become nonfatal after two weeks.
Opaline tears can be used to create both opal and gembond gene scrolls. Simply soak a standard spell scroll in opaline tears until the paper gains an iridescent sheen.
