They are one of the few seismically inactive spots, (of which they are very few) in the Ashfall Waste, making an ideal lair for those who do not wish to be constantly moving and changing with the land. A vast majority of tunnels have been left unexplored, for many do not wish to tempt fate and see if the whole extent of the Catacombs is seismically inactive. But there is a small area currently inhabited. It is inhabited by the ones who call themselves "Residents". They are a curious bunch, with a few pirates, runaway royals, and misfits. The first dragon to truly discover the Catacombs was a nature dragon known by the name Belle. Her mate (Eriin, a dull-furred tundra) lived there for a while, before abandoning it for unknown reasons. Clans would come and go, all leaving for different reasons. There would truly be no permanent residents, until Perseus started investigating the caverns for what he could consider home turf for his piracy empire. And so, he claimed the tunnels for his own, along with his close friend, Ruby. Eventually, a few handfuls of dragons would join him in the caverns, all looking for a safe place away from the outside world.
