As the wind gently rustles the reeds, producing a marimba lullabye in the windswept plateau, you can hear the sound of bells jingling as they sway on the branches. But where does this path lead? Marked by red threads strung across the bamboo in a line, with bells strung upon them. You climb stone stairs, flying momentarily to catch your breath when a convenient gust pushes your wings skywards. Before you know it, you have mounted the summit and entered a bamboo village, a Takemachi, if you will. You have heard stories of the flower and willow grove, with stunningly talented geisha. You continue through the town, beginning to see dragons scurrying in the twilight hours, preparing for the night of fun parties and relaxing lullabies. A puff of hot steam greets you from a gust blowing over the cliffs. The relaxing smell of minerals and citrus wafts from the hot springs on the moist air. As you look towards the direction of the setting sun, you see a large shrine gate, just down the cliff an ornate shrine is decorated for a festival, and from the melody of bells and flutes, you can only guess that it houses a celebration dragons who have been exalted. Vying for your attention, from the other end of town, lit by red lanterns in the shadows of the highest cliffs, a bell-drum and howl announces that a show is beginning at the kabuki theatre. Suddenly, you notice a gate engraved with all of the bells and whistles, tinkling and singing in the night. A curtain blows softly in the wind and you push it aside to enter. The next think you know, a kaleidoscope of pinwheels spinning in the breeze beckon you in to a lovely sound garden. Greeted by wind chimes called furin, your eyes fall upon the lantern that announces that you are a welcomed guest of Furin Teahouse. Relax in the garden, to be lulled by the glorious voice of the singing wind, or come inside. Where the songs take flight

Takemachi is a small Japanese-style town hidden deep in the bamboo forests of the windswept plateau. In Takemachi, a famous relaxation town, one may find tea houses where geisha dragons dance like branches in the breeze. Other tourist attractions include the Hot Spring bath house, an ornate Wind Shrine and the imposing Kabuki theater.

The breeze gently tugs upon the fabric of your clothes, lifting you towards the cliffs above...

The sunlight filters through the fluttering branches of bamboo, casting lavender shadows over the grove. As the wind gently rustles the reeds, producing a marimba lullabye in the windswept plateau, you can hear the sound of bells jingling as they sway on the branches.

But where does this path lead? Marked by red threads strung across the bamboo in a line, with bells strung upon them. You climb stone stairs, flying momentarily to catch your breath when a convenient gust pushes your wings skywards.

Before you know it, you have mounted the summit and entered a bamboo village, a Takemachi, if you will. You have heard stories of the flower and willow grove, with stunningly talented geisha. You continue through the town, beginning to see dragons scurrying in the twilight hours, preparing for the night of fun parties and relaxing lullabies.

Discrimination from the local dragons was nothing new to this tengu, Soujoubou. His father and grandfather and so on all before him were descendants of the Talanoks, a known beast clan.They too had all experienced discrimination and hate when they had owned the old shrine. But now, it was Soujoubou's turn, and despite all odds, he did his job with pride.

Of course, he couldn't do it alone. Kabuki is a huge help-- when she is around. He isn't too crazy about this whole "Actress" thing, however. The way it is looking now, he may not have any descendants upon whom to pass the Jinja on. Takemachi has a large and vibrant shrine that is under constant visitation and surveillance by the miko, Kabuki and the Tengu Priest, Soujoubou. The shrine is where local dragons can undergo exaltation ceremonies before leaving their homes to serve in the fragrant zephyrs of the Windsinger. However, some dragons, especially members of the Windsong clan are often dedicated to the shrine to act as ambassadors or even non-omnipotent manifestations of the Windsinger to local dragons. These dedicated dragons could be anyone, but not just any dragon could be the ambassador of Takemachi's esteemed shrine. Rigorous testing and strict rules must be followed.

When the time comes, some dragons leave their lair to go to serve one of the 12 of Sornieth. Whether they become personal helpers, messengers, ceremonial dancers or simply those that clean and purify the exaltation altars, they all go to take their place in the world.

In Takemachi, exaltation ceremonies are one of the primary celebrations that result in huge parties and feasts. Leaving home to serve the Windsinger, is a great honor and the dragons who have gone on are regularly recognized and celebrated. Dragons hoping to be exalted must train hard throughout their hatchlinghood and pass a test to determine that they are at the appropriate skill level to be accepted for exaltation.
