Moss Rain Monastery was originally located in the Viridian Labyrinth, but many of the members have temporarily relocated to the Sunbeam Ruins...
In the Viridian Labyrinth, the main camp of the clan was an abandoned stone monastery built into a hill, hence the clan's name, with individual dens carved into the earth. The dens were finished and furnished so they provide a warm, dry home to contrast the cold rainforest.
Moss Rain Monastery is currently lead by Nymph and Wraith. The Monastery is not a fighting clan, but Nymph is not idle in preparing the clan for whatever it may face, especially with the strange happenings and magical disturbances across Sornieth. Upon hearing that an Emperor had risen in Light territory, Nymph was heartbroken. Both Nymph and Wraith, were originally from Light clans and had maintained ties with old clan members in the Sunbeam Ruins.
Nymph held a special council with all permanent members of Moss Rain Monastery and it was determined that the clan would move to Light territory to provide aid for clans that had been ravaged by the Emperor.
While some dragons remained behind in the Viridian Labyrinth to maintain the original monastery, the majority of the clan has moved to Light.

Moss Rain Monastery was originally located in the cool, wet highlands of the Viridian Labyrinth where the clouds met the canopies of the trees. Moss Rain's main exports are rare herbs and flowers, used to make oils and extracts sold across Sornieth. While the clan has moved to Light, they are close enough to the Viridian Labyrinth that they are still able to maintain their exports and trading.

- This is a pretty massive work-in-progress, please bear with me!
- Dragons in my lair are organized by color, not importance or lore-significance... I just really, really, really like the aesthetic.
- My lore is based VERY heavily on the fact that all of my dragons are G1s... there are no biological family members together in my clan, everyone is on their own!
- There are some grey-range dragons at the back of my lair (not included here) that I'm debating on how I want to include into my lore. I'm thinking maybe some kind of specialized unit? Who knows...

EXPORTS
Moss Rain Monastery was originally located in the cool, wet highlands of the Viridian Labyrinth where the clouds met the canopies of the trees. Moss Rain's main exports are rare herbs and flowers, used to make oils and extracts sold across Sornieth. While the clan has moved to Light, they are close enough to the Viridian Labyrinth that they are still able to maintain their exports and trading.

Nearly all of this plant grows beneath the ground, save for a few small flowers. Digging it up can be quite a chore.
37
4
Bloody Snapdragon
Plant
This hardy plant provides herbivorous dragons with a valuable source of food during long winter months, but tastes awful.
40
4
Delta Orchid
Plant
These flowers are in a constant state of change. (Special thanks Pheonyx.)
25
2
Floating Maiden

This golden plant has extensive root systems below the water's surface. They can outcompete many submerged plant species for light and nutrients.
33
3
Football Mums
Plant
This bright flower is the cause of much regional confusion. (Special thanks to Windows8.)
90
9
Ghost-Painted Fern
Plant
A naturally occurring plant that is frequently mistaken as a sign that an irate dryad is nearby.
25
3
Speckled Fire Lily
Plant
It can be difficult to harvest fire lilies, which often grow very close to active magma vents. Scoring a basketful is quite a treat.
37
4
Sunbeam Fig
Plant
Sunbeam fig trees will only produce fruit when exposed to long periods of direct sunlight.
64
8
Daffodil
Plant
Boil it, mash it, maybe stick it in a stew. (Special thanks to Falwater.)
65
7
Dayglo Thresh
Plant
A mild pastel under normal lighting conditions, this plant flares to a brilliant glow when magics are worked in its vicinity.
29

4
Fragrant Orchid
Plant
The most pungent blossom of the Sandswept Delta unfortunately smells of rotting meat. (Special thanks HailSmoothie.)
25
2
Longweed Bunch
Plant
This invasive species quickly overtakes fields of longgrass. To a Longneck this is a disaster. To a Tundra, it's an additional snack.
36
4
Peppermint
Plant
A cool, favorable plant that can be consumed to help aid a number of maladies such as indigestion, nausea, colds, and headaches.
63
7
Water Lettuce
Plant
Gathered by claw or net, water lettuce grows quickly and provides a reliable harvest.
33
3
Giant Kelp
Plant
A habitat for some, dinner for others.
30
3
Sweet Potato Vine
Plant
The roots of this plant produce a hearty bulb that provides starch to a diet. The leaves are good too!
37
4
Frosted Violets
Plant
Served best when chilled. No one likes a warm violet salad!
17
2
Madame Snapdragon
Plant
A common myth about this flower is that it sings at midnight and those who consume it are said to be bestowed the gift of a beautiful voice. Most of the time it simply results in terrible indigestion.
40
4
Pompom Mums
Plant
This flower's cheerful, crinkly petals shake in the faintest breeze, catching the attention of every bee passing by. (Special thanks to yoshino.)
90
9
Bluelipped Thresh
Plant
This aquatic plant grows on the edges of caves and waterway entrances. It requires the low light and high mineral content such environments provide.
30
3
Umbra Parthenium
Plant
A night-blooming plant, Umbra Parthenium is irresistible to herbivorous dragons.
28
3
Siltvine
Plant
The ground stems of the siltvine can be used as the last important reagent to activate a bubbling poison, or sprinkled on foods to bring out their flavor. Risk or reward?
37
4
Cliffside Milkweed
Plant
This species of flower only grows from the cracks of mesa walls.
46
4
Subterranean Clover
Plant
This clover grows only in absolute darkness. It shrivels quickly when exposed to sunlight.
15
2
Dark Creeper
Plant
The rustling of this ivy, which grows only at night, can be quite unnerving in the dark.
75
5
Emetic Russula
Plant
Just a fancy way of saying 'eat this and you might throw up.'
25
3
Alstroemeria
Plant
Cultivated for decoration and dessert.
25
3
Spathiphyllum
Plant
If not consumed, these flowers make excellent lair decorations. Spathiphyllum thrive in areas with little or no natural light.
62
6
Maidens Blush
Plant
It remains unknown if the origin of the name comes from the color of the flowers, or the slight toxicity that can raise a dragon's temperature.
60
6
Pretty Pink Mums
Plant
A favorite of courting tundras, both a romantic gesture and a sweet snack. (Special thanks to Adventure.)

While Nymph is the de facto leader of Moss Rain Monastery, her mate, Wraith, is just as respected. Nymph handles the majority of the longterm planning and decision-making. She also generally takes on the responsibility of meeting with other clan leaders and diplomats.
Meanwhile, Wraith handles more of the day-to-day operations of the clan. He works with the groups within the clan to coordinate efforts to keep things running smoothly. While Wraith prefers to stay behind the scenes, he is also a capable leader in times of need.

Ohhhh lord, this is gonna take forever...some of these guys have roles in my head already or are mentioned in the lore of other dragons (hence why a few of them are already in roles above), but they don't have any of their own lore in their bios. However, most of the dragons below are totally blank slates.
This is what setting yourself up for an unachievable dream looks like.

THE TALE OF NYMPH AND WRAITH[br]
In Nymph's original clan, it was traditional for young dragons to travel and see the world before settling down for their adult life.
Nymph set off alone and planned to remain solo throughout her journey, ensuring she could move quickly through each land while still taking in the culture and customs of lands she had glimpsed numerous times in her youth.
Nymph's dream of a quick and effortless journey did not last long. While traveling through the Carrion Canyon of the Shifting Expanse, Nymph spotted a Pearlcatcher laying motionless in the sand. Assuming the worst but still hopeful, Nymph cautiously approached the body.
Nymph noticed the Pearlcatcher was thin and battered, and one of his eyes seemed to be swollen shut. As Nymph stepped closer, the Pearlcatcher startled and recoiled, a deep growl resonating through his chest. Unimpressed, Nymph stood her ground and asked, "Who are you?"
The Pearlcatcher looked around and forced himself into a sitting position, his good eye narrowed on Nymph, "I am called Wraith. I left my clan a few weeks ago after some changes in leadership that seemed to be pushing the clan more toward conquest than I wanted to be a part of... everything seemed to be going smoothly with my departure, but then I got into a bit of a scuffle with a Crowned Roc. And here I am now, talking with you. And may I ask who you are?"
Nymph regarded the Pearlcatcher for a moment. Finally, she spoke, "My name is Nymph. I'm currently on a journey to travel to each region of Sornieth as part of a rite of passage before I rejoin my clan. If you're looking to cross the Shifting Expanse, you're welcome to join me."

While Wraith was a bit larger than Nymph, he was injured and she confident she could escape if he became a threat. Nymph surprised herself with the offer, but decided she could use some company on her journey at least until Wraith was well enough to go on his own way.
Wraith healed quickly and turned out to be an excellent traveling companion. While he always carefully avoided conversation about his former clan, Wraith was a fantastic storyteller. Nymph had grown up the the typical stories all hatchlings hear about the creation of the world and lore about heroic dragons of the past, but Wraith seemed to know stories about every plant and creature in creation. Nymph was fascinated... and she felt herself growing attached to the Pearlcatcher as he traveled with her across Sornieth.[br]

As they reached the Viridian Labyrinth, the very last region in Nymph's quest, Nymph found herself trying to think of an excuse to delay her return to the Sundial Terrace where she would be reunited with her clan. Wraith had made it obvious he had no interest in returning to Light territory and seemed happily at home in the Shrieking Wilds. Nymph assumed he would continue on his travels through the jungle without her after she was gone.
The pair crossed the highland rainforest of the Labyrinth and came upon a deserted stone monastery built into the side of a hill. Relieved to find shelter from the torrential downpour the they had endured for the last few days, Nymph and Wraith quickly escaped the rain in one of the abandoned lairs.
Shivering from the cold rain, the pair curled up together in the lair. Nymph listened to Wraith's heartbeat slow as he fell asleep, exhausted from their weeks of travel. Nymph sighed heavily.
Wraith stirred, "Are you okay?"
There was a long pause as Nymph debated her answer. Finally, she spoke, "I don't want to go back to my clan. I want to stay here, in the Labyrinth. With you."
Wraith did not need a pause before answering, "Why don't you then?"
Nymph sat up and tried to keep her excitement from her voice, "Can we do that?"
Wraith opened his eyes, the corners crinkled with happiness as he held Nymph's gaze, "I would love to, Nymph."

Within a few weeks time, Nymph and Wraith had cleaned up the monastery together. Nymph took on the role of Leader early on, her excitement uncontainable as travelers began to stop at the newly named Moss Rain Monastery, requesting shelter. Months passed and boundaries were set, outposts built, and the number of permanent residents at the monastery grew.
Nymph's journey over and she couldn't be happier...

But Nymph's travels weren't quite over yet! After hearing that an Emperor had risen in Light territory, Nymph was heartbroken. Both Nymph and Wraith were originally from Light clans and had maintained ties with old clan members in the Sunbeam Ruins.
Nymph held a special council with all permanent members of Moss Rain Monastery and it was determined that the clan would move to Light territory to provide aid for clans that had been ravaged by the Emperor.

THE TALE OF ABYSS AND AZALEA[br]
Abyss wasn't sure how long he had been trapped in this gloomy, underground cell somewhere in the Sunbeam Ruins. While he wasn't treated roughly during his time in captivity, he hadn't seen daylight in ages and he didn't remember his last meal. His cell was dark and cold, and he felt helpless.
Abyss was small in stature, but what he lacked in size he made up for as an incredibly powerful mage that specialized in walking in the dreams of other dragons. He had studied under the greatest oracles in the Sea of a Thousand Currents and the strongest arcane mages in the Starfall Isles. When Abyss used his magic to walk in dreams, could see a dragon's greatest aspirations, fears, or secrets... and this made him quite a target.
He had been imprisoned by a powerful clan, who he assumed sought to use his magic to spy on their enemies. His capture had been violent and he had hit is head sometime in the struggle, resulting in his memory being rather blurry.

Abyss awoke with a start as the door to his cell was thrown open and slammed against the wall. A large, bright magenta Pearlcatcher stood in the doorway, panting and covered in sweat. Blood was oozing from a large wound on her shoulder and she was covered in scorch marks. One of her wings was held at an odd angle, indicating a possible break. He could immediately feel that she was also powerful mage, though he couldn't tell exactly how powerful or what kind of magic she controlled.
Abyss scrambled to his feet, "Who are you? What's going on?"
The Pearlcatcher was agitated and still breathing heavily, but between gasping breaths she responded, "My name is Azalea... I'm here to rescue you... but we have to go now or we won't make it out."
Abyss had never seen this Pearlcatcher before and had no reason to trust her, but the only alternative was to simply continue rotting in this miserable prison. He nodded his head and followed Azalea into the darkness, barely able to keep up with the mysterious Pearlcatcher as she sprinted ahead of him.
Abyss followed Azalea out of the tunnels of the underground prison and into the night. They ran at a breakneck pace for what felt like hours before the Pearlcatcher slowed her speed, allowing the pair to catch their breath. Still, Azalea continued to urge Abyss on, continuing through the night.

It was only as the sun began to rise that Azalea finally stopped. Other than the occasional encouragement or direction to keep moving, she hadn't said anything since they left Abyss's cell. The Pearlcatcher turned to him now and sat, looking at him calculatingly. She adjusted her wings, though the one that Abyss has guessed was broken early was still held at an odd angle, confirming his suspicions.
Abyss was beyond exhausted, but his skin was prickling. He could feel Azalea's incredibly powerful magic, and as he looked back at her, he could see some of her magical essence freely flickering in the air around her. Abyss had only seen that once or twice before during his training, and only with master mages who had spent decades honing their power. While it was possible Azalea was wearing a glamour to cover her true age and appearance, he couldn't detect any disguises. Actually, she seemed relatively young, perhaps even younger than Abyss himself. After studying her for some time, he met her gaze and asked, "Who are you? And why did you rescue me?"
The Pearlcatcher sat up and wrapped her tail around her legs, not unlike an oversized cat. She responded, "As I told you, name is Azalea. As for why I rescued you, that's complicated."
Abyss sat back and watched Azalea's magic shimmer around her. He pressed her to answer his question again, "I think we have some time now. Where did you come from? And why me?"
Azalea sighed, but did not hold back this time, "The clan that captured you is... was... my own. I come from a long line of some of the incredibly powerful mages. My father is one of them, one of the strongest, but he has become completely unhinged by his own power... he has been to actively hunting down other powerful mages, imprisoning and eventually killing them out of paranoia. His magic has corrupted him and now he thinks everyone is a threat to his power. I have been trying to help him... to heal his mind, but there seems to be nothing left to heal. Tonight, he killed most of his own advisors. I fought him and I have bound his magic... but he is not dead. I fear for the lives of the rest of my clan, it is doubtful there will be other survivors if they have not already escaped."
Abyss was suspicious, so he asked again, "But why save me? What about your clan?"
Azalea looked down. She closed her eyes for a moment, then raised her head again and opened her eyes to meet Abyss's gaze, "The bindings on my father's magic are permanent... but I was not ready to kill him. I don't even know if I could. I saved you because you wouldn't be missed until it was too late and we were already long gone... I saved you because you would have been dead by morning if I had not. My clan-mates had the chance to flee and fend for themselves. On the other hand, you were trapped in a cell with no way to defend yourself. I had to make a choice."
Abyss considered her story. Azalea seemed honest and the reason for his capture made sense now. He felt humbled by how close to death he had come. It was his turn to bow his head as he spoke, "Thank you... I owe you my life. But I must ask, what will you do now?"
The Pearlcatcher looked at the Wildclaw, the magic around Azalea shimmering, "I don't want to go back... my clan, as I knew it, is gone. My father may still be dangerous, but not more so than other insane warlord. I have not been permitted to leave Sunbeam Ruins since I was a hatchling because my father was afraid I would never return. I think now it is my chance to see the world."
Abyss did not hesitate, "I am sorry for your loss... but let me help you. I have trained with the best mages and oracles in all of Sornieth, I can take you to them. It's safer than traveling alone, but if you would prefer to go separate ways, I would understand. But first, please, let me heal your wing. My main studies have been in dream-walking, but I am a decent healer, too."
For the first time, Azalea visibly relaxed. She smiled coyly and replied, "My magic is not delicate, not really ideal for healing. I will take you up on both of your offers, your company would be much appreciated."[br]

After resting for several hours, Abyss and Azalea began their journey toward the Starfall Isles. While Azalea had warned Abyss that she had not been outside of her clan since she was a hatchling, he was not prepared for her joy and wonder as they explored the world. Azalea wanted to stop at every market, town, and city. She to take every detour possible to see canyons and waterfalls and mountains. While Abyss could see how some may find it frustrating that their travels were so slow and meandering in nature, he found that he simply enjoyed spending time with Azalea.
While the Pearlcatcher had initially intimidated Abyss, he found that as time passed he was just in awe of her. Azalea was incredibly vibrant; she was endlessly excited, and constantly curious. However, Abyss knew that beyond Azalea's playful behavior, she was still a wildly powerful mage who had yet to show her true power.
He wouldn't have to wait long.

I will take you up on both of your offers, your company would be much appreciated."
