TOPIC | [Lore] - Seekers of Blue Odds
Something of a Lore dump for my clan of bumbling disasters.

I have no idea whatsoever what my clan is actually doing, so I hope this will help me get a grip on that.
There is no real structure to this. Everything will be a bit jumbled up, while I do this, since I don't want to reserve like several pages of posts. (Though a semblance of order will hit in when I get to a specific point.)

Feel free to add a nice comment~

Yes, he knew how to wash clothes, even if he was a spy. Mostly he did it to get away from his office and the recently increased stream of clients. The reasons he actually gave himself were that it was a wonderfully nice day and that his (and his clanmates) clothes were just terribly dirty. Humming, he brought the whole mess to a streamlet in the Starwood Strand and got to washing. It took him a while to get some particularly stubborn stains out of his favorite scarf, else he would have been back sometime before lunch. He wouldn't have seen the small basket carried by the streamlet, because he would have been long gone. Since he was still there, he picked it out of the water and inspected it curiously. Whyever would a basket float around on a streamlet? He knew there lived no one around this one. It was filled with a big bundle of dried grass. Touching it, he found that there was something hard inside. And since he was a spy and notoriously for prying, he pulled away the dry grass. One stalk at a time, a spherical object was revealed. He took of his glasses first, blinked, rubbed his eyes and blinked again. Then he cleaned his glasses, just to be sure and looked again. A wind egg laid snuggly in the basket. Whatever was a wind egg doing here? Had someone lost it? With critical eyes he scanned the sky and the surroundings. Seemed like no one was looking for it. "Nemoh, where are you? Lunch is ready~" echoed a faint voice from very high above. It was time to go. He didn't want to miss his lunch snacks. Besides, it was very unwise to ditch a meal Teth had cooked. She had an uncanny knack of finding the unlucky fellow and watching him or her until they had eaten everything. Quickly, he stuffed the dry grass back around the egg, grabbed the basket with one arm and the wash with the other and hurried back to the floating island he had come to call home. He may have had no time to hang up the wet clothes, but he did manage to shove the basket with the egg into the darkest corner he could find in his personal cavern. He waited until well after nightfall. Until after Teth had made her last round over the island and littered it with bottles of red Cerdae Sparkle. Until after Crystalspawn had done his last nervous midnight walk, before he sneaked out the back of his cavern and flitted to his office. He made double sure no one was following him. Down the side of the island he went, halfway to one of the few clusters of stubborn brush, where the entrance to his office was hidden. He spiraled inside and closed the door softly behind him. Unhatched eggs were highly sought after. Some said they were gifts of the gods, others were sure the hatchlings were cursed. But they went for an extraordinarily high price on the black market. He just had to get it there before it hatched. And if his clanmates saw the egg, they would try to keep it, instead of making some treasure from it and buying some nice stuff! His plans went awry, as they so often did these days. In the morning - he had tried reading something and had nodded off - a customer came, seeking information. Just when that one had left and he had started on finding out where and when the next black market would be held, a new one came to ask for something. Then he had to make a lunch break, to prevent Teth or Nibs from coming down. Opportunity never came. There was either a constant stream of clients, or something else taking his attention. It was almost eerie. And then he had to start hatching a plot to get back on a smuggler who had thought lifting two of his files was a bright idea. Two days later, he had all but forgotten about the egg he had hidden in his office. It was a rare day that had started without any clients and he had started it with reinforcing the magical barrier on his entrance. A crack destroyed his concentration. Irritated, he looked around for the source of the sound but he couldn't find anything. Shaking his head, he started once more. Another cracking sound, louder this time, echoed from the inside of his office. Followed by a continuous soft knocking. Annoyed he glared into his office. He knew - KNEW - there was no one in there. Not a breeze ever managed to get in there. His office swallowed sounds! There was no way anything in there could be loud enough to be heard outside. Still, the knocking continued. Highly curious and highly angry, he swirled inside, looking into every nook and cranny for the source of the sounds. By now it had stopped again. Strange. He went back to the entrance slowly. Stopping every few seconds to turn around and stare at his now silent office. Whatever it had been, it seemed to have vanished. Maybe he should look into vermin-proofing it. So busy was he, he never registered the soft scratching sounds that followed him. ----- It watched with big eyes as the long thing moved about in the darkness. It was the first time he saw something like this. Not that it had ever seen anything other than darkness as far as it could remember. Darkness and narrowness. Now it had darkness and space. So much space! The long thing stopped, then went away. On an impulse, it followed the long thing. Maybe it knew something? The thing swayed and swiveled, right in front of its nose. Entranced, it watched every small movement. What was this thing? It gathered itself and jumped at it, trying to pin it down and make it stop moving for better inspection. ----- Sharp pain from his tail made him whirl around with an angry hiss. The intruder was still here and had dared to attack him! What he saw clinging to the tip of his tail was a small and wet creature. White-ish pieces of something still clung to it. It clung to his tail with ferocious happy squeals. Then it looked up at him. Probably because he had stopped moving. With a terrified scream, he snapped his tail and flung the creature into the dephts of his office. It started screaming the second it lost its grip and went flying. Small wings trashed around in an useless attempt at flight. It hit into something with a wet smash and the sound turned from a scream to a horribly crying. He had boiled out of his office at the same time his tail was free again, slamming the door shut behind him. What the Shade was that?! Pressed to the rough wood of the door, he shivered as he listened to the crying. It was loud, whatever it was. However it had managed to get into his office! Wait. The white-ish stuff that had stuck to it had looked suspiciously like pieces of an eggshell. "Oh no. No no no. This can't be." Was the fervent whisper that escaped from his maw. Hopefully no client would come by now!
