She kept watch as Tree wandered back into the woods for food, now with small field mice scampering between holes in his ivy. Palustris warmed up in a small den made of twigs and woven grasses, and bedded with three warm deer pelts. He walked out into the clearing when he was warm enough, and saw two tree-looking dragons. One, almost an actual tree, was covered in a large array of animals, from birds and insects to mice. He smiled warmly at the new arrival. The other was a calm, graceful coatl, lithe and reminiscent of a flowering shrub. They admired the coloration of their newest member, his greens and blues contrasting against the others. He dove into the water as soon as allowed, and spent the rest of the day in the still-growing kelp forest. [rule] Alastra sat awake with Ti, both munching on some popcorn. In the word of the boss “The next big step is a successful aquatic Paradise” they’ve already witnessed a remarkable leap in 2’s progress, and Alastra was beginning to have hope in the experiment. They both fell asleep at 6:00 sharp, nestled against each other with 3 scattered notepads around them. Pinglist: @ilimati @petall @relics @nalrene @storytellerivy @neonkitty New dragon!! Yay! I love new dragons. Palustris is almost fully aquatic, so expect some cool underwater scenes. Anyways, thanks for reading, and enjoy your day! The bright side of this was that nobody had to get him food; the bad part was that now nobody could really fish, since the guardian had taken sanctuary of the lake and all it’s offerings. Tree was sustained mostly by his birds and other companions, swarming small mice or other critters and bringing them to him. Wisteria went for a fly and spotted a smaller lake by the edge of the forest. Tree nestled himself against her shelter and slept as well. Palustris was wide awake. He swam through his new home, admiring the silty bottom and small, glittering fish. He sank to the bottom, and snapped a few unwary fish up. The kelp growing between his scales didn’t hurt him in the slightest, only providing camoflauge needed to catch his prey. He fell asleep on the bottom, slowly amassing a larger swarm of fish. There he saw tiny patches of water lettuce growing from the spots his spikes used to be. He needed help. He burst from the water to see the only other dragon with this problem. Tree was drenched by the dragon thrice his size rising from the lake. He glared at the pathetic dragon and felt his animal tenants leave to avoid being drenched. He then noticed the plants growing from his back. “Calm down, you big baby. Just let me look at you, okay? You’re fine.” He then took Palustris’s tail and pinched it. The welp from the guardian confirmed his suspicions. “Of course you have nerves still. I get stuck with enough ivy to kill an imperial and no nerves and you, you get plants so close to your spine that you’d be paralyzed and lo and behold, you are perfectly fine. No nerves damaged.” He murmured and gestured towards the water, “Go on back. You’re fine.” Tree watched as the dragon slipped into the lake again and dissapeared. Wisteria returned from a day of hunting to a sulking Tree. She approached tentatively and left her catch by the campfire. “Hey Tree, you alright? I know I’ve been gone pretty often but-“ “Shut up.” He stopped, then softened his tone. “I’m sorry, Wisteria. I’m just not really up for company right now. Please leave me be.” “I know you’re down and I don’t even know you that well. Just talk to me, okay?” She sat down next to him and spoke gently. “Well I’m just... I realized something and now I’m just not okay.” He began tentative, but it turned into a flood of words and raw emotions “I only really realized how screwed up I was until I saw the guardian grow plants and not suffer nerve damage like me. I don’t know where I am or who I should really trust. I don’t know anymore but I just... I want to go back. I’ve been trying to ignore what I’ve felt and tried to be strong, but I can’t do it anymore. I want to fly like you. I’m a wind dragon, not a nature dragon. I’m stuck on the ground and I’m covered in a tiny ecosystem. I don’t know why I’m like this. I don’t want to be like this.” He ended in tears. Wisteria began to speak. “You know, I miss my old home. At the spire, you know. The hum of electricity between your feathers was heaven. I miss that too. But you know what I miss the most? Normalcy. I mean, I’m living with you and a seaweedy guardian. I want to go back. But none of us can. You can’t ever be normal again. I don’t even know where I am. The guardian over there? He’s scared out of his mind and he’s so young. We’re all stuck here. I just hope somebody knows about us and will save us soon.” The two nestled together, Tree cuddling between Wisteria’s feathers, and slept. Between the trees, glowing orange eyes peered from the trees. [rule] Alastra and Ti were crying. “Oh my god, why are we doing this? “Really? That would mean-“
“Subject 2 would be released tomorrow. I’m well aware of that. I will see that they get rehomed accordingly.”
“Thank you, Miss.” Alastra left the Head in silence. She smiled, but it wasn’t sinister. She was only imagining how amazing it was that her experiments would now be able to roam and fulfill her brother’s paradise better.

Hi! We’re officially done with catch-up!! If anyone wants Tree (if he doesn’t die tomorrow to spite me) I’ll happily pass him to you! Anyways, there’s been too much dialogue these updates, but it’s gotten me to really know the characters more. Have a good day guys, since you won’t hear from me until probably tomorrow!

First off, I loved all three updates today. I was already hooked just with the scenario, but the character development and whatever is going on with the Head and her brother are super interesting, and I can’t wait until further updates build on that! The delays weren’t really a problem, and the updates were well worth the wait :)

Second, I’ve been kind of in love with Tree’s colors since I first found this timelocke and I’d love to take him in if he doesn’t die tomorrow (which would suck and I’m kind of worried I’ve jinxed it already :/ whoops)
