The Saint's Coven

It is rumored that, somewhere deep within the Hewn City's labyrinthine depths, is a coven of dragons who perform strange rituals to appease the Lightweaver. Supposedly, this coven is skilled in many forms of magic, and dragons from all around Sornieth make the dangerous journey and brave the halls of the Hewn City to cure themselves of various ills and hone their dark crafts.

Those who whisper these rumors...are totally correct. Welcome to the Saint’s Coven.

Many dragons who make the pilgrimage to the Hewn City in search of healing don't remember much. Oftentimes, they come to, at home, perfectly healthy and with no recollection of illness in the first place. Others never come home at all.

The coven is a collection of saints- each dragon within is the patron saint of some aspect of the world. This isn't limited to anything in particular- there are saints of healing, protection, and despair, but also of puppets, gold, and chance. Led by a large council of 14, the Coven protects a wondrous artifact known only to a select few members. This artifact is called Pandora's Prism, and is a gift from the Lightweaver that has the ability to ensnare fragments of Shade. In the wrong hands, it could be used to entrap other things, or to release the Shade into Sornieth.

The council, apart from the progenitors, are referred to as Archbishops instead of Saints. They have been chosen as suitable leaders by the elemental spirits, and are the only dragons within the coven to pledge fealty to a deity other than the Lightweaver, though they are required to swear allegiance to Her as well. Each Archbishop is tasked with training new recruits, and with assigning and expediting missions deemed necessary.
