The greatest kingdom of Sornieth thought it would never fall. Their island was vast and impenetrable. The rulers held the respect of their people, and their warriors were strong and courageous enough to fend off any danger that should threaten the sanctity of their home.

Then the rift struck. Brother turned on brother, sister on sister. What had once been a place of peace was now writhing with betrayal and bloodshed. Each side fled to the edge of the island, fortifying their newly formed borders and scheming to overturn their rivals and claim the land for themself. The war raged for generations, each hatchling raised to fight, and to die when they were old enough.

The war would have continued for an eternity had not a greater danger struck the two kingdoms. Rising from the depths of the sea, a great eldritch monstrosity ravaged the island, razing both sides to the ground. The survivors banded together to fight off the threat, but even that was futile. They had no choice but to flee.

Together, two powerful sorcerers, one from each kingdom, crafted a pair of keystones and encased them in matching ruby rings. The keys opened two portals, one on each side of the island, for the dwindling survivors to flee through. On the other side, they built new lives for themselves, never speaking of their home again. None must return there. The rings were given to a single keeper who was to destroy them as soon as possible. The Island was to be forgotten to history, lost to time.

Without anything to prey on, the monster returned to to depths. Centuries passed, and the once-great structures fell to ruin. Yet, the heart of the island once again began to stir, and a call went out. The war was not yet over, and the kingdoms must rise again.

I just can't get enough of 'lockes! Throughout my time on Flight Rising, I have done three different Pinkerlockes, experimenting with different playstyles and story types. Unfortunately, I have only ever completed one of those (which, to be fair, was sort of a continuation of my first), due to busyness or my stories not working out in the way I've wanted and I've found it difficult to continue.

I now have sorted out what works for me and what doesn't, so I have faith that I will be able to see this one through. I am also playing with slightly different rules, concocted by my good friend @CleverDual and I to make a new form of 'locke: A Timelocke.

Enough of my rambling, let me lay out the rules, as quoted from this thread.

How To Play wrote:
Basic Rules
 • When a dragon hits a death number (explained later), that dragon MUST be exalted - this is the life blood of every locke.
 • Write - don't get to bogged down in the menial tasks of hoping for a certian pull...BE CREATIVE!
 • There are no rules about dressing your dragons, giving them apparel, or getting them art...just have fun with it!
 • Every update MUST correspond with a number generation.
 • You can start your Timelocke with however many dragons you want, however three is the recommended number. Just follow the New Dragon Rules!

Rolls

set your random number generator for 1 - 170

1 - 50 -- challenge - roll to see if your team of dragons survive

Challenge Rules wrote:

When a dragon dies in a challenge, YOU MUST EXALT IT! This is the most essential piece of playing a Timelocke.

51 - 150 -- neutral - develop your characters, create more depth in your locke

151 - 165 -- new dragon - purchase a new dragon off the AH using the following rules
New Dragon Rules wrote:
Roll from 1 - 14 to determine the breed of the dragon.
 1. fae
 2. gaurdian
 3. mirror
 4. pearlcatcher
 5. ridgeback

 7. spiral
 8. imperial
 9. snapper
 10. wildclaw
 11. nocturne
 12. cotal
 13. skydancer
 14. bogsneak

 3. wind
 4. water
 5. shadow
 6. ice
 7. lightning
 8. light
 9. nature
 10. plague
 11. arcane

After that, it is up to you. Here are some variations:
 • Pick the cheapest dragon in the AH that meets the requirements.
 • Choose your favorite dragon (in a certain price range).
 • Purchase the first named dragon.
 • Buy the first dragon with something in it's bio.
 • Go with a certain gene.

166 - 170 -- breed a nest - if there is a pair that is RTB and is alright to have a nest lore-wise, breed them. If not, see the rules.

AAAAAAAAND if you do not have a pair RTB (or it doesn't make sense, lore-wise), you have two options.

EITHER hatch an elemental egg OR buy the cheapest hatchling on the AH.
there will be many many more added as we figure this out, but these are all the rolls to start with

My Additional Rules
 1. When buying a new dragon, I must buy the cheapest dragon that meets the requirements that has something in their bio. Scries do not count.
 2. The exception to rule #1 is when I roll a "breed a nest" and choose to buy a hatchling instead of putting on a nest. Then I buy the cheapest available hatchling on the AH, regardless of if there is anything in their bio or not.
 3. For each update, I must roll to see which dragon's POV that chapter is in. The exception for this is if there's a chapter I need to be done from the POV of a specific dragon, then I can bypass this rule.

Prologue: Arrival

Where are they? Where did they go?

With a jolt, Karina opened her brilliant pink eyes and looked around in a panic. She didn't recognize the rolling hills and moorland before her, and she didn't recognize the coatl beside her.

Hearing the flap of wings, she spun around to see a nocturne landing on the edge of a cliff, near a pair of two tall stone spires. Behind the new arrival, a vast ocean spread as far at the eye could see. Not recognizing the nocturne, Karina's heart sank, and a heavy emptiness gripped her chest.

What was I expecting? What am I missing here? Karina couldn't help but feel something important had slipped her mind, but it made her dizzy trying to think about it. She instead tried to focus on the land around her, hoping to find something familiar. Her search only left her with one question:

How did I get here?

Violante's wings ached by the time she touched back down on the edge of the cliff. She had flown as far out as she could handle, and she had seen nothing. No landmarks, no shores. She had flown far enough out that she could see that what she had landed on was more of an island than a continent.

Phosphora was used to waiting, and staying still. Too many times she had been told to stay still, to rest, to conserve her energy. If her old clan were with her now, they would likely say the same thing. Save your strength. Don't push yourself too hard. Phosphora was glad to be free of them. Not that she hated them. They meant well, and she supposed they had a point, but Phosphora wasn't just tired anymore. She was tired of staying still, of living her life confined to the clan. Perhaps that is why she undertook the journey. Though how she ended up on an island was a complete mystery to her. And judging by the conversation of the other two, it was a complete mystery to them too. "So you're saying you can't even tell what flight we're in?" Karina asked, flicking her tongue. Phosphora heard the nervousness in her hum. "There doesn't seem to be any strong elemental connection of any kind here. If I didn't know better I'd say we were no longer on Sornieth." Violante moved with impatience, as if the confusion irritated her. "I'm trying to think if there's anything, even some old sailor's muddled tale or sea shanty, that can help us, but I've heard nothing. Nothing about anything like this." Phosphora felt strangely free. She should be afraid. She should be worried. She was far from any doctor that could help her ailments, and not being in an elementally tied location, she might lose the fire within that helped to keep her ailments at bay. Any sensible dragon would be worried, but Phosphora was done being sensible. She had let her illness confine her for too long, and now that it seemed her quest had failed, she might as well make the most of the time she had left. "Are you alright?" Karina's concern suddenly alerted Phosphora to her shortness of breath. The adrenaline coursing through her veins had kept her from noticing. "This is normal." Phosphora explained, smiling weakly. She felt more tired than she wanted to let on, and frustration sent her spiraling down from her fleeting moments of freedom. The illness would not let her go so easily. It would always be two steps behind, waiting to pounce. "I think we should stop and rest." Karina called to the nocturne flying ahead. "The sun is setting. We don't know what dangers this island holds. We should try to find some shelter for the night before we stop. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll find some other dragons who can tell us where we are." Violante urged, not looking back. "I'll be fine." Phosphora reassured the other coatl between breaths. "Don't worry about me." The trio carried on for another hour, until they reached the crest of the moor they had been climbing. Violante lighted down next to Karina and Phosphora, and they peered down into the valley. "Look, down there!" Violante chirped, extending a talon towards a cave opening up in between two great hills. "That would be a great place to stop for tonight!" Too out of breath to agree, Phosphora just nodded. It was getting harder to stay standing, and she was relieved that they were almost at a place they could rest. The three dragons took to the skies, and descended towards the cave. ----- Next ----- @CleverDual I've decided that I'm going to roll to see who's point of view each chapter is going to be from, unless I have a specific plan in mind and need it to be from a specific character's point of view.

Waiting.

Nothing about anything like this."

Phosphora felt strangely free.

"Don't worry about me."

The trio carried on for another hour, until they reached the crest of the moor they had been climbing. Violante lighted down next to Karina and Phosphora, and they peered down into the valley.

"Look, down there!" Violante chirped, extending a talon towards a cave opening up in between two great hills. "That would be a great place to stop for tonight!"

Too out of breath to agree, Phosphora just nodded. It was getting harder to stay standing, and she was relieved that they were almost at a place they could rest. The three dragons took to the skies, and descended towards the cave.

I've decided that I'm going to roll to see who's point of view each chapter is going to be from, unless I have a specific plan in mind and need it to be from a specific character's point of view.

@Petall

This looks really interesting. :o I love the way you adapted the standard 'locke rules - never seen anyone do it like that before!

Could I be on the pinglist, please? I'm excited to see how the story develops.
