He waved goodbye anyway and then immediately opened his mail, something from his old friend Notos! Come and do this contest! This is THE JAM here! The best Poetry Jam ever! Come get your Jam on, eh? -Notos[/b] [/i][/size][/font][/indent][/indent][center][img]http://orig01.deviantart.net/e340/f/2017/082/e/b/scroll2_by_qhostship-db39ahh.png[/img][/center] Grapespeare let out a whoop and immediately got to work making more of his best jams to bring to this event Notos thought he should enter. How exciting that his old Training Days friend remembered him and had heard about his award-winning jams! He would make his specialty jams, his award winners, maybe bring his jam cookbooks in case he needed to make more at this major Jam event! He shopped for the best fruits, gathered his best herbs and spices, and worked hard for 3 days making so many jars of jam, he covered not only the kitchen counter, but the tables and the floor and into the living room! While out at the market checking to see if there were any new berries he could use, he overheard that the Windsinger himself was going to be at The Jam! He tweaked and perfected one last jam recipe, then he packed his travel bags, crated up his many jam jars, and loaded up his wagon for the trip. He started off with a huge smile and dreams of the accolades his jams would receive from dragons all over Sorneith...and dare he hope, Windsinger himself! When Grapespeare arrived at the gathering place on the map Notos and sent, he saw it was actually the Mistral Jamboree, an event he’d never attended before. How exciting that they would have such a prestigious Jam Contest at MJ! As he rolled to a stop at the place Notos had indicated on the map, he saw his friend, and right behind him saw the banner waving in the light breeze...The Poetry Jam. [i]POETRY.[/i] Grapespeare greeted his friend with a sinking feeling. "Frooster! Thank you so much for coming! You are going to have such a good time judging poetry with us this week!” his spirally friend Notos swirled around in an excited twist and the two hugged. Although Grapespeare was genuinely happy to see his old friend, he realized he was not here for a Jam contest. [columns][size=4]“What’s in the wagon?” his friend asked as he lifted a flap at the back of the wagon, revealing stacks of bins filled with jam jars of every color. “Oh.” he turned to his friend with a worried frown. “Oh dear, did you think I meant, like, jams and jellies?!”[nextcol] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=28113143][img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/coliseum/battlesprites/281132/28113143.png[/img][/url][/columns] Grapespeare hung his head. His error had been revealed while he was still trying to figure out what to do. “Friend, that’s okay, and probably my fault, right? I have been so excited I never thought about how I worded my invite. Of course you thought about your jams! You make the best jam in Sorneith! But it was your wonderful ear for good poetry I was really after. And look, now we have both! No worries, my dear Frootster, we will make this work in your favor! Now come along and meet the crew!" “Oh, it’s my fault, Notos, my whole life has become about jams and jellies. Poetry was always just a hobby, you know? My real passion is jam!” “This works in your favor. We will add a new category with your jams as the inspiration! Jam Poetry at the Poetry Jam! It’s brilliant! Every entrant gets a jar of jam, and we can sell the rest at the concessions! It will be perfect! But Notos presented it as their idea to make the event better, putting an incredibly positive spin on it all. Grapespeare was made to feel at home as they sat around and tasted some of his jam. They stayed up way too late in the evening talking about their old days writing Poetry and publishing some books, something Grapespeare never thought he’d be doing again, but these people were so inviting and friendly, he soon forgot all about his error in the excitement of getting the event ready for the Mistral Jamboree. With a great wiggly body, the Windsinger hovered in front of him, Quiet words came from the hatchling as he whispered, "You're long and skinny." We had almost 100 poems to get through initial scoring, then second round judging, and final judging.
