@Disillusionist

Once Juliette was brought back in, I knew Thorburn would have to make an appearance sooner or later!

I usually prefer having everyone together too, but sometimes splitting characters up allows everyone to cover more ground!

His lore is just so much fun! And after so long of Romilda being so grumpy and lonely I figured forcing some love on her is something she deserved!

Hehe I thought you would appreciate the mention of Dremasul!

Ever since Thorburn had offered to buy it off their hands, it had eaten away at his conscience like a worm in a bad apple. He had hardly been able to sleep the night before. Rori would give her a good send-off, that was more her thing anyways. It was a long trek to his tent, and it was made even longer by the caution he had to take to not be seen. He had no idea what state his tent would be in after a year, and he did not have high hopes. When he burst into the clearing, it was just as he had thought. The canvas of the tent had been torn apart, probably by passing dragons and beastclans looking for easy loot. Luster knew he wouldn't have passed up an opportunity like this if he had stumbled upon it. Not even bothering to go around to the proper entrance, Luster slipped through one of the tears on the fabric. Inside was even more of a mess. What hadn't been taken had been broken or strewn on the floor. He had lost everything. It hurt more than he thought. He'd have to come and scavenge what he could later, right now he had a bigger concern. The hourglass was gone. Vaughan purred. "You said it would be six months!" Luster exclaimed, forgetting momentarily the reason why he was here. "It turns out I needed a little longer to find what I needed." Vaughan said, winking. "You hide that tent well." "You have the hourglass." Luster's heart plummeted. This was the nightmare scenario, the one dragon they had to stop from getting their hands on time travel. "Maybe." Vaughan said, smiling at the sight of the mirror squirming. "Though, it won't do me much good without those smaller hourglasses. Perhaps we could strike a deal?" "No!" Luster hissed without hesitation. That was the very last thing he wanted. He may have made a mistake by coming and letting her trick him into giving up the main mechanism, but he wouldn't give up the pieces. "Are you sure? What if I told you I could reverse time around your tent so that everything was returned? Every tacky trinket, every penny, everything. Save for the hourglass of course." Vaughan was very close now. Her red gaze was almost hypnotic, and Luster's heart thrummed in his chest. He must admit, it was a very tempting offer. But it wasn't worth it, not if it meant betraying his friends. Not if it meant betraying everything they were fighting for in keeping Windkeep Tower safe. "No thank you. They are not for sale." As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he spun around and left, before she could make any other offer. Now he just had to give the bad news to Rori. Rori, who didn't trust him to go back in time with them. Rori, who was growing closer to Eclipse leaving Luster feeling like the third wheel of the group yet again. Maybe he wasn't quite ready to go home. He wondered if Cattail was in, and if she would see him. Well, there was only one way to find out. She had totally misread the young mirror. He was not the greedy fool she had taken him for. he had more backbone and loyalty than she had every thought of the shrewd little dragon. She would have to be careful not to underestimate him next time. Just then, the bell of her shop rang. She had another customer. She wondered who it could be. Probably another passing tourist with some pointless request. To her surprise, however, when Vaughan entered the room, Queen Banella was standing in the doorway. What a surprise to see you here! I thought you would still be hiding away with your little heirs." Vaughan purred. "You have my congratulations, children truly are the best gift of all. Let's hope yours it more grateful than mine." "They are perfect." Banella said, lifting her head with pride. "They will make this kingdom strong. But that is not why I am here." "Really? What can I do for you, your majesty?" Vaughan asked, sparking with curiosity. What secrets did their mysterious queen hold. "A few years ago I rather foolishly gave up some childhood memories of mine. Now that I have children of my own, I would like them back." Banella explained. "How did you 'give up' these memories?" Vaughan asked. "I paid them to a necromancer so I could see my sister again." Banella said, spitting as she mentioned the necromancer. "The little cheat didn't tell me it would not be enough to bring her back, and I ended up having to pay an even bigger price." "I'm afraid if it was given away in an exchange like that not even my powers are strong enough to retrieve them." Vaughan sighed. "Such memories can not be regained, the only way to get them again would be to view them again. Unfortunately, trading them took every trace from your memory, so not even my husband, who is skilled at seeing into the past, would be able to recall them. You would have to travel back in time and find your younger self in the very moments you want to find." "Oh, just that then." Banella said, clearly getting more agitated. "If you're going to be no help-" "Wait!" Vaughan interrupted, not wishing to anger her queen further, not when she was such a valuable customer. "I do have half a time machine, I'm just struggling to get my hands on a few essential pieces. When I get my hands on them, perhaps I could send you back in time to your childhood, for a price of course." "Thank you Vaughan." Banella sighed, calmed once more. "I appreciate your help. You are a valuable asset to this kingdom. I will not forget the help you have given me today." ----- Next ----- @CleverDual @Alwaid @zzzhorses @Amezrou @ScrivenerRook @Kizzan @clarax @lilastar @tigressRising @Disillusionist @Aetherstorm @rainphee @RiaFire11 @Tirtouga678 @catmeow1 @ShinyDecidueye @AlchemyFox ----- Vaughan is back!

Chapter 121: Time Thief

Luster knew he was going to miss Eclipse's departure, but he could not rest until he had made sure the hourglass was safe.

"I was wondering when you'd be back." Vaughan purred.

"You said it would be six months!" Luster exclaimed, forgetting momentarily the reason why he was here.

"It turns out I needed a little longer to find what I needed." Vaughan said, winking. "You hide that tent well."

"You have the hourglass." Luster's heart plummeted. This was the nightmare scenario, the one dragon they had to stop from getting their hands on time travel.

"Maybe." Vaughan said, smiling at the sight of the mirror squirming. "Though, it won't do me much good without those smaller hourglasses. Perhaps we could strike a deal?"

"No!" Luster hissed without hesitation. That was the very last thing he wanted. He may have made a mistake by coming and letting her trick him into giving up the main mechanism, but he wouldn't give up the pieces.

He must admit, it was a very tempting offer.

But it wasn't worth it, not if it meant betraying his friends. Not if it meant betraying everything they were fighting for in keeping Windkeep Tower safe.

Well, there was only one way to find out.

Vaughan slipped into her quarters with a sigh.

"Ah, you majesty! What a surprise to see you here! I thought you would still be hiding away with your little heirs." Vaughan purred. "You have my congratulations, children truly are the best gift of all. Let's hope yours it more grateful than mine."

"They are perfect." Banella said, lifting her head with pride. "They will make this kingdom strong. But that is not why I am here."

"Really? What can I do for you, your majesty?" Vaughan asked, sparking with curiosity. What secrets did their mysterious queen hold.

"A few years ago I rather foolishly gave up some childhood memories of mine. Now that I have children of my own, I would like them back." Banella explained.

Battle training was one of the best ways to expel the pent of energy that resulted from being cooped up underground, and Winterstone thought it a good idea for Kipling to learn how to utilize his speed and agility in combat. It also helped Kipling get his mind off of his friends. He had passed on a message to India, who was the biggest asset to the rebellion. Not only was the pantry of the Copper Lotus a secret entrance to the Underground, but India was positioned perfectly to discreetly pass on messages as most of the dragons of Windkeep Tower stopped in at least once a week. Simon had warned that it would likely take a while to get a response, as Rori and Luster were known associates of his and would therefore not be very popular with Quartz and Banella, but Kipling couldn't help but miss them. He was worried, and he had never gone so long without them at his side. They were his support, his partners in crime, his team, and now he had to learn to live without them. Kipling felt something sharp pierce his wing and he winced, almost falling from the sky. He felt blood well up, and he tried to keep his balance. "You were distracted. I could have killed you there." Xinskarr said sharply. His eyes were fierce and merciless. The wildclaw was usually a tough trainer, but he seemed to lack even more patience this time. "I'm sorry, I'll do better." Kipling vowed. "You better. There are no second chances on the battle field. Every attack is a chance to lose something." Xinskarr was almost spitting with fury now, and he was stabbing the ground with a practice sword. "Is- everything alright there buddy?" Kipling asked, lighting down on his shoulder and folding his wounded wing in protectively. "Everything's fine. Everything's amazing." Xinskarr growled. "It's just-" He sighed. "Xaiya's had a nest." "Congratulations!" Kipling said, feeling a glow of warmth for his friend. Xaiya was training to be a therapist and had been a great friend and comfort to Xinskarr in his emotional recovery. She came to visit the Underground regularly to see Xinskarr, and Kipling always felt her presence bring a certain warmth and softness to the fierce wildclaw and the rest of the Underground. He had wondered if there was anything going on between the two of them, but felt it impolite to ask or assume. "Yeah, it's just- the timing is wrong." Xinskarr sighed. "I'm happy of course! We talked about having hatchlings someday, but we were planning on after the war. You know, when everything settled down and we could be sure they would be safe. But now they are just one more thing for Quartz to take away from me. I don't know what I'm going to do if anything happens to them. I already love them so much, and I haven't even seen the eggs yet." "How many?" A voice sounded on the other side of the training room, and Kipling turned to see Querida striding in, her gaze soft and sympathetic. Kipling wondered if he should leave, it was not often that she looked this vulnerable. In fact, the last time he saw this kind of look in her eyes was when she was comforting Xinskarr as a hatchling after his siblings murder. He, however, was frozen to the spot, and couldn't bring himself to leave. "Three." Xinskarr sighed. "Xaiya's bringing them by later, we decided they'd be safer here, in the Underground. I mean, no one aboveground knows that we are a couple, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I just don't feel like I can be a dad right now." "We'll look out for them." Kipling promised. "We won't let anything happen to them!" Querida met Kipling's gaze and she shook her head. Kipling lowered his head, he'd leave the comforting to Querida. "Hatchlings rarely come at ideal moments, but I know when the time comes, you will do the best by them." Querida soothed. "They will make you stronger, braver and fiercer in battle because you are no longer fighting for the future, but their future as well. I've been there, believe me. Quartz was hardly a good dragon to raise hatchlings with." Xinskarr's gaze fixated on something that was not there at the mention of Quartz. Kipling could feel the wildclaw's muscles tense beneath his feet. Kipling wondered what he was thinking." "Do I have regrets about how I chose to raise my children? Every day." Querida went on. "I wish I could have been there more for all three of them, or that I had sent Ruby away like her brothers, or that I didn't snap at Quartz and get imprisoned and miss my daughter's childhood. I wish I could have done something to save Runeclaw's life. But in the end, you can only do so much. I did everything I could, but sometimes there comes a point when children must take their own steps into the world. And yes, sometimes that's sooner than it should be, but you are a strong dragon, and I truly believe you will be a good father and have both the strength and the kindness to help those children thrive." "Thank you." Xinskarr sighed, turning to meet Querida's gaze. "I'm just so scared, you know? I can't remember ever being this scared before." "There's nothing more scary than having something so entirely dependent on you, but remember, you aren't in this alone." Querida said with a smile. "That's the whole point of being in a clan, you don't have to do anything alone. I know everyone in the Underground will be more than willing to love and care for those children. We will do our best to protect them and prepare them, because they are why we are fighting, so new generations of dragons don't have to grow up under Quartz and Banella's rule, so everyone can have the freedom to be who they are." "Thank you." Xinskarr sniffed. Kipling turned to see a tear rolling down his cheek. Kipling hadn't seen the wildclaw cry since he was a hatchling. He used his tail to wipe the tear away. "Thank you, both of you." Xinskarr said, scooping up Kipling and putting him down on the ground. "I'm doing better now. Do you want to keep sparring, Kipling?" "Are you sure?" Kipling asked. "We can take a break if you need some time?" Xinskarr shook his head. "No, I want to get at strong as I can before they arrive, so I can keep them safe." "That's the spirit." Querida said, her usual sharp gleam reappearing in her eye. "I'll go see what I can arrange for a safe nesting spot." Rubywing walked down the mansion corridor, trying not to drop the numerous scrolls under her arms. Windkeep Tower's inter-clan and inter-flight relations were on thin ice after Quartz took over, and Ruby was doing everything she could to maintain them. It certainly didn't help that Quartz and his wonderful new wife had moved into the mansion. Sure, they took over the royal suite for appearances sake, but Fenn and Elric's quaint tendencies were too bland for royal tastes and had linked a portal to the royal suite for work. It was bad enough that Quartz had her working for him without him and his brand new family taking over her workspace and making her feel like she was a kid under lock and key again. It would be better if she had Rhowen in all of this. They could hide away and complain about their working conditions and try to come up with some sort of solution, but unfortunately her husband was out of commission and all Ruby could do was comply to Quartz's wishes and wait for the right gap. Ruby was so deep in thought, she didn't notice the pattering of tiny claws against the marble floors coming up behind her until a pair of hatchlings rounded the corner and knocked her over, sending scrolls and papers flying. Garnet!" Rubywing called after her half siblings. The two hatchlings skidded in their tracks and turned around. "Sorry." Topaz said, not sounding sorry. Garnet stuck her tongue out at Rubywing, and the pair turned to run away. Ruby sighed. These hatchlings were growing more entitled and rambunctious by the day. Banella spoiled them, and thought they could do no wrong, and both parents had impressed upon them that they were the most important dragons in Sornieth, destined for great things. Rubywing tried to be a softer force in their life, as Tess had been for her, but it was getting increasingly difficult as Banella has a strong mistrust of Quartz's eldest daughter and no doubt was passing that on to her children. "Wait!" Ruby called again. "Where are you off to? You know your parents don't want you going down to the wine cellar." "Do you have to spoil our fun?" Garnet huffed, turning her scowling green eyes towards Ruby. "Please let us go! You'll be our favourite big sister!" Topaz pleaded. "I'm your only big sister." Ruby reminded them. And I might not even be that if Banella gets her way. She thought sadly. "Exactly!" Topaz said with a smile, as if that explained his logic perfectly. "I'm afraid that's not going to fly with me. You know the wine cellar is dangerous. You could get badly hurt." Ruby reminded them. "You're no fun..." Garnet huffed. "We wanted to go on an adventure! We're tired of this mansion." I know the feeling. Ruby thought to herself, and she felt pity for these hatchlings. Their childhoods may be more spoiled than hers was, but they didn't get to choose their destinies either. They were just as trapped as she was. "Why don't you go find your brother and I can show you a few secret passages you parents don't know about?" Ruby offered. She knew if Banella ever found out what she was doing, she'd be in big trouble, but what could she say? She was itching for an adventure too. "We don't want to play with Sapphire." Garnet complained. "Yeah, he's annoying." Topaz whined. "Is that any way to talk about your brother?" Ruby scolded. "You're supposed to be looking out for each other, not teaming up against each other. You told him you were playing hide-and-seek again, weren't you?" Ruby guessed she had taken for granted the way she and her brothers had each other's backs. Perhaps if they had grown up together, things would have been different, especially considering the competition Quartz liked to impress on others. "Maybe." Garnet said, giggling. "Well, why don't we go find him. I'm not showing you both these secrets until I know he's okay." Ruby suggested. "Fine..." Topaz said with a dramatic sigh. His tail and wings drooped until they were dragging on the floor. He was certainly picking up his mother's affinity for melodramatics. Sapphire had grown tired of waiting for his siblings to find him. They were really bad at looking, and he was really good at hiding. He supposed they wouldn't notice if he went for a little walk. Sapphire sung a little song to himself as he walked. It was one his mother had taught him. She sang it to them every night as she was tucking them into bed. He was jumping along to the beat. In fact, he was enjoying the song so much, he almost didn't notice the sound of approaching footsteps and voices. Topaz and Garnet were coming! Sapphire quickly hid behind a marble statue and waited for them to pass. "Now, where could he have gotten to?" Ruby's voice carried down the hall as she -passed. Sapphire had to try really hard not to giggle. They had gotten Ruby in on the game! Once he was sure they were gone, he jumped out from the statue and ran down the corridor in the opposite direction. He ran until he was out of breath, and he found himself leaning on a wall next to a thin, spiraling staircase. It seemed to go down forever into darkness. You're not brave! Sapphire remembered his sister's taunts. Yeah, you're nobody and you'll always be nobody! Topaz's voice joined the fray. Sapphire would show them! He bet they would be scared to go down in the dark like this! Without a second thought, Sapphire began making his way down the stairs. It soon became to dark, it was hard to see. He wished he had his mom's eyes. She could always tell when he was out of bed, no matter how dark it was. Suddenly, he felt his foot slip and his heart dropped. The next thing Sapphire knew, he was tumbling down the stairs. He instinctively spread his wings to try to stop himself, but he just tumbled onto them, hurting him even more. He seemed to fall forever, until he reached the bottom of the stairs. Everything was light again, and everything looked upside down. Had he ended up in an upside down world? He sure felt dizzy... That was when he realized he was upside down. With a shake, he got to his feet, almost stumbling over. Where was he? He bet Topaz and Garnet hadn't ever been this far. Despite his aches, he pressed on. He had to explore! He rounded the corner and found himself in a large room filled with pillars and rounded ceilings. Everything was made of stone, and he felt really cold. There was even ice in the room. Or rather, a really big piece of ice. Curiosity got the better of him once more, and Sapphire walking up to the big chunk of ice. It towered over him, nearly filling the room. He shivered as he got close, but that didn't stop him from placing a hand on the ice. Suddenly, there was a thunk, and he swore he heard something move. There was something in the ice! Sapphire pressed his nose to the ice to get a closer look. His breath warmed the ice and water began to drip down him nose. There was a large purple guardian and a tiny pink fae trapped in the ice. They glowed the same red as the ruby tail ring adorning his tail. Sapphire didn't have time to look at him more, and he made a move to run for it. The coatl blocked his path. He made another move, and the coatl blocked that path as well. Discouraged and frightened, the wildclaw hatchling began to cry. Something flickered in the coatl's gaze, but only for a moment. Seeing that the hatchling was now in one place, the coatl stretched out his hand. The room got colder, and Sapphire could feel the tears freezing to his face. He was going to become an ice cube too, just like the other dragons. This coatl was nothing like any dragon he had seen before, this dragon was a monster. Suddenly, there was a noise behind the coatl and the monster turned to see what it was. While the coatl was distracted, Sapphire tried to move, but his feet were frozen to the ground. "Help!" He cried. "Please help me!" Suddenly, there was a strong gust of wind and Sapphire was torn from the ground. He cried out in pain at the harsh separation, and clenched his eyes shut as he was carried over the head of the scary coatl and onto the back of another dragon. "Hey Saph, are you alright?" At the sound of Ruby's voice he open one eye, and then the other. She was flying up the staircase, carried by a strong wind. "Who was that?" Sapphire asked. "That's not important." Ruby sighed. For some reason she seemed really sad. "What's important is that you're safe and that you never go down there again!" "I promise!" Sapphire nodded emphatically. He had had enough adventures for one day. ----- Next ----- @CleverDual @Alwaid @zzzhorses @Amezrou @ScrivenerRook @Kizzan @clarax @lilastar @tigressRising @Disillusionist @Aetherstorm @rainphee @RiaFire11 @Tirtouga678 @catmeow1 @ShinyDecidueye @AlchemyFox ----- Oof! Chapter 122: The Upcoming Generation

Kipling zipped around Xinskarr, trying to dodge his blows.

"Xaiya's had a nest."

"Congratulations!" Kipling said, feeling a glow of warmth for his friend.

I already love them so much, and I haven't even seen the eggs yet."

"How many?" A voice sounded on the other side of the training room, and Kipling turned to see Querida striding in, her gaze soft and sympathetic.

I just don't feel like I can be a dad right now."

"We'll look out for them." Kipling promised. "We won't let anything happen to them!"

Querida met Kipling's gaze and she shook her head.

Quartz was hardly a good dragon to raise hatchlings with."

Xinskarr's gaze fixated on something that was not there at the mention of Quartz. Kipling could feel the wildclaw's muscles tense beneath his feet. Kipling wondered what he was thinking."

"Do I have regrets about how I chose to raise my children? Every day." Querida went on. "I wish I could have been there more for all three of them, or that I had sent Ruby away like her brothers, or that I didn't snap at Quartz and get imprisoned and miss my daughter's childhood. I wish I could have done something to save Runeclaw's life. But in the end, you can only do so much. I did everything I could, but sometimes there comes a point when children must take their own steps into the world. And yes, sometimes that's sooner than it should be, but you are a strong dragon, and I truly believe you will be a good father and have both the strength and the kindness to help those children thrive."

"Thank you." Xinskarr sighed, turning to meet Querida's gaze. "I'm just so scared, you know? I can't remember ever being this scared before."

"There's nothing more scary than having something so entirely dependent on you, but remember, you aren't in this alone." Querida said with a smile. "That's the whole point of being in a clan, you don't have to do anything alone. I know everyone in the Underground will be more than willing to love and care for those children. We will do our best to protect them and prepare them, because they are why we are fighting, so new generations of dragons don't have to grow up under Quartz and Banella's rule, so everyone can have the freedom to be who they are."

"Thank you." Xinskarr sniffed.

Do you want to keep sparring, Kipling?"

"Are you sure?" Kipling asked. "We can take a break if you need some time?"

Xinskarr shook his head. "No, I want to get at strong as I can before they arrive, so I can keep them safe."

"That's the spirit." Querida said, her usual sharp gleam reappearing in her eye. "I'll go see what I can arrange for a safe nesting spot."

Rubywing walked down the mansion corridor, trying not to drop the numerous scrolls under her arms.

"Topaz!

You know your parents don't want you going down to the wine cellar."

"Do you have to spoil our fun?" Garnet huffed, turning her scowling green eyes towards Ruby.

We're tired of this mansion."

I know the feeling.

@Petall Dang, that scene with Xinskarr and Querida was sooooo good! I thought Xinskarr was going to explode or something, and having Querida come in and soothe him with her own wisdom was great.

Ruby's doing a great job handling Banella's brats, too. On a darker note, finding out where Fenn and Elric are was really sobering. Rhowen being "out of commission" doesn't bode well, either.

It really helps that I just reread all of my lore, so Querida's past with Quartz and Ruby was fresh in my mind!

I work with kids (that's actually what I'm in university for) so it's great to have some opportunities to utilize that knowledge for my lore! And yeah, Fenn and Elric's location wasn't originally going to happen until closer to the end of the arc, but it just fit so naturally here that I couldn't resist!

The airship's sail was getting battered so badly it was a wonder it hadn't begun to tear. Goodness knows the reckless sailing of its crew had done enough damage. But Plagueheart wasn't slowing for anything. The news of Windkeep Tower's takeover had only just reached her, through some distant ally of their clan as they were stopping off to refill supplies. That was one of the problems with spending the majority of her time traveling around Sornieth with Pyrite and their son, Quaid. News from their home base was often delayed. "I'll kill him." Plagueheart spat. "I'll kill him so hard for this. He's done enough damage." Beside her, Pyrite wasn't complaining. He was polishing his armor and flexing his claws, tongue sticking out and smiling excitedly at the thought of bringing justice to the dragon who had hurt his daughter and granddaughter so badly. "Who are we killing?" Quaid asked, poking his head up from where he had been lounging and enjoying the view. He seemed excited. It was not often they got involved in conflict, and he was bored. "Quartz." Plagueheart spat. "Oh boy!" Quaid jumped to his feet. He had heard many a story of the coatl, and he held that same loathing for Windkeep Tower's new king as his parents. Suddenly, their excited plotting was interrupted by a loud thump hitting the front of the ship. They had been so caught up in their rage that they had forgotten to pay attention to where they were going, and a dark draconic form was spinning out of the sky, wing bent awkwardly. Plagueheart swore and slowed the ship to a halt so that Pyrite could dive out of the ship after the falling dragon. "Why are we stopping?' Quaid complained. "Isn't that just a crow or something?" "Don't be rude Quaid, it's another dragon." Plagueheart snapped. Ever since Pennar's death, her brother had inspired her to help anyone who needed it, regardless of cost or consequence. It was the best way she could honor his memory. She knew Quaid didn't fully understand and often got frustrated by her detours, but every time she did it, she could imagine her brother smiling at her, and that was what held her together. "How long is this going to take?" Quaid asked. "I want to get moving. Don't we have a king to overthrow?" "It can wait." Plagueheart said stubbornly. After what seemed like forever, Pyrite pulled a skydancer onto the deck, out of breath from the effort of lifting her up. Her eyes were closed, and Plagueheart could tell that she was unconscious. "I got her just in time." He said, exchanging a glance with his mate. He understood her vow, and never tried to dissuade Plagueheart when she set her eyes on something, even if he thought it too trivial to pursue. It was the least he could do, considering all she had lost. "What are we going to do with her?' Quaid asked, curiously stepping forwards to examine the skydancer. "Woah, she has a sword!" He pulled it from her belt to examine it, only to be disappointed when it turned out to be made of some sort of rubber. "A fake." He sniffed. "What would a dragon with a fake sword be doing way out here?" Pyrite asked, irritated. "What good is that against harpies and pirates and stars knows what else." The skydancer's eyes began to flicker open. he groaned in pain, as she moved to get up, shifting her broken wing. "Where am I? What happened?" She mumbled, clearly still groggy. "Your on The Darktouched Chimera, an airship." Plagueheart explained. "We- well, there's no nice way of putting this, we hit you but it's okay, because Pyrite and I are very skilled in survival skills and we can patch you up rather nicely." The skydancer glanced disbelievingly at Quaid's crooked tail, which was quite obviously the result of a bad break that hadn't healed correctly. "Oh, that wasn't our fault." Plagueheart explained. "He removed his cast too soon, the idiot. He's fine. Your wing will be in tip top shape in no time. Now what's your name?" "E-Eclipse." The skydancer said, clearly taken aback by the sharp wildclaw. "Wait, which way are we going? I'm supposed to be on my way to the Tangled Wood! Not back to wind!" "Our clan is in danger." Pyrite explained. "We can drop you off with another airship if you would like. We have connections." "You're not from Windkeep Tower, are you?" Eclipse asked darkly. "Yes we are, do you know it?" Plagueheart asked. Perhaps this newcomer would provide better information. Their source didn't seem to have all the information. "If you want to help Windkeep Tower, please, you need to take me to the Tangled Wood as quickly as you can. I'm seeking something to help overthrow Banella and Quartz. There's nothing you three can do on your own there anyways." Eclipse said. "Oh, I don't mean any offense!" She added, clearly seeing their irritated looked. "It's just, they have a whole undead army on their side. No one stands a chance, not without some serious help." "Okay, we'll help you." Plagueheart decided. "But Mom!" Quaid whined. "You heard your mother." Pyrite told his son. "She has a point. We'll be of better use to the clan if we get some proper help. We don't want this to turn into a suicide mission. I promise, we'll be back. I want a chance to knock Quartz down off his pedestal too." "Then it's settled." Eclipse looked relieved. "Setting course to the Tangled Wood!" Plagueheart confirmed, turning the ship around so sharply everyone fell over and slid down the deck a little ways before it righted itself. Then it was full speed ahead across the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Nothing would stop Plagueheart from her quest. ----- Next ----- @CleverDual @Alwaid @zzzhorses @Amezrou @ScrivenerRook @Kizzan @clarax @lilastar @tigressRising @Disillusionist @Aetherstorm @rainphee @RiaFire11 @Tirtouga678 @catmeow1 @ShinyDecidueye @AlchemyFox ----- Looks like Eclipse is no longer making the journey on her own! Plagueheart swore and slowed the ship to a halt so that Pyrite could dive out of the ship after the falling dragon.

"Why are we stopping?' Quaid complained. "Isn't that just a crow or something?"

"Don't be rude Quaid, it's another dragon." Plagueheart snapped.

Don't we have a king to overthrow?"

"It can wait." Plagueheart said stubbornly.

"What good is that against harpies and pirates and stars knows what else."

The skydancer's eyes began to flicker open. he groaned in pain, as she moved to get up, shifting her broken wing. "Where am I? What happened?" She mumbled, clearly still groggy.

"Your on The Darktouched Chimera, an airship." Plagueheart explained. "We- well, there's no nice way of putting this, we hit you but it's okay, because Pyrite and I are very skilled in survival skills and we can patch you up rather nicely."

The skydancer glanced disbelievingly at Quaid's crooked tail, which was quite obviously the result of a bad break that hadn't healed correctly.

"Oh, that wasn't our fault." Plagueheart explained. "He removed his cast too soon, the idiot. He's fine. Your wing will be in tip top shape in no time. Now what's your name?"

"E-Eclipse." The skydancer said, clearly taken aback by the sharp wildclaw. "Wait, which way are we going? I'm supposed to be on my way to the Tangled Wood! Not back to wind!"

"Our clan is in danger." Pyrite explained. "We can drop you off with another airship if you would like. We have connections."

"You're not from Windkeep Tower, are you?" Eclipse asked darkly.

No one stands a chance, not without some serious help."

"Okay, we'll help you." Plagueheart decided.

"But Mom!" Quaid whined.

"You heard your mother." Pyrite told his son. "She has a point. We'll be of better use to the clan if we get some proper help. We don't want this to turn into a suicide mission. I promise, we'll be back. I want a chance to knock Quartz down off his pedestal too."

"Then it's settled." Eclipse looked relieved.

Looks like Eclipse is no longer making the journey on her own!

You know, I almost forgot to check back in with Eclipse and had a Luster update planned for today, but thankfully I remembered and the Luster update should come tomorrow.

@Petall A delightfully unexpected match-up! It's been such a long time since Plagueheart and co. put in an appearance, I actually paused to check if it was an interlude. I'm so glad to see them getting back in the game -- and meeting up with Eclipse, too! (I couldn't help thinking of that scene from Infinity War where Thor smacks into the GotG's windshield. One of my big things about this arc is I'm trying to give all the major characters of my previous arcs significant roles as a sort of callback! The only character I haven't figured out where to fit in is Tosha and co. I figured with all their traveling, and the fact that they are almost never at Windkeep Tower, the best way to bring in Plagueheart and co was by accompanying Eclipse! (And lol, I have to laugh at that reference, especially because I've been taking some inspiration from Infinity War/Endgame in figuring our how to structure an ending while juggling lots of characters that are all in different places.)
