I didn't have the heart to have Ruby completely raised by a heartless fool. She needed some love and protection, before Quartz's training accidentally killed her...

The original plan was to send him out as a travelling dragon and when he was returned to me, do a big reunion scene where Plagueheart and Oriel find out he isn't dead and his lore would be influenced by the adventures other people wrote about him. I didn't plan on keeping him forever when he returned, but I did want his family to know he was okay... Now it feels like I saved his life in the lore for nothing and it's just an unsolved plot hole. But, it'll be a great challenge to figure out how to work Pennar back into the story and wrap up that plot hole without it feeling forced!

Rhowen never expected he'd be free again, yet here he was, freed by Quartz and now forever indebted to him. His mission: protecting Quartz's daughter at all costs. Personally, Rhowen thought it was a terrible idea, but you couldn't argue with the man who gave you your freedom, especially not when you had a ruby tail-ring of a contract to bind your service. So really, when he thought about it, Rhowen wasn't free at all, he was just in another kind of prison. But whatever, he had worked for dragons like Quartz before. He could handle looking after a spoiled little princess of a dragon. Rhowen squeezed his hands together as he waited for his escort to Quartz's mansion. This was not a nervous tick, just simply a way to keep his strong elemental magic in check. Whenever he lost control, he ended up freezing a clan. The first time it had happened, he had been a hatchling and it had just sort of slipped out. The next few times had been intentional, on the orders of Crime Lord Mercer. He didn't work for Mercer anymore, and he hoped his new boss never found out he did or else he could be in big trouble. In fact, the only reason he was happy to do this was because it was his only hope at destroying Mercer. That was his plan: destroy Mercer, destroy Quartz, live a free life, atoning for his crimes. If this dragon worked for Quartz he would likely be dead with time. Quartz had a track record of losing those who worked for him. Best not get attached, that's what he had learned from his time with Mercer. "Come on buddy, there's no need to be harsh." Kulshan said, looking rather disappointing. "I was just trying to make you feel welcome." "And I appreciate it." Rhowen admitted with a nod. Kulshan looked to be not much older than he was. He supposed he was still getting used to the harshness of the world. Though he was an ice dragon, he didn't want to be cold. "Well, I guess there's no use standing around. Let me take you to meet the Boss." Kulshan shrugged and began to lead the newcomer away from the tower and towards the gazebo that Quartz had indicated he'd be opening a portal in for Rhowen's arrival. @Petall *whistles* Rhowen looks awesome, daaaaang. And he's a complicated chap, isn't he? I read about that part about him being indebted to Quartz forever and shrugged...only to run slam-bang into him planning to destroy Mercer and Quartz.

*sweats nervously* Kully, old boy, you're surrounded by frightening people. D:

(Plus Rhowen's theme is one of my Disney faves. Waaaay better than "Let It Go", imo! ^^)

Rhowen certainly has a lot going on, that's for sure!

(If I'm being completely honest, I do like Let it Go, but Frozen Heart is just epic and when it hit me that Rhowen was going to have intense ice powers, my mind immediately went to that song.)

I have a dragon who's name is Rho. At one point I exalted him, then got him back with the dragon restoration.
