The entrance is tucked within a cave of ice high up the spire, and sealed off by a very large vault door made of steel - big enough that a full grown Imp would barely be able to fit through. The Vault was once a gigantic panopticon style prison, though after passing ownership it barely looks the part. The main chamber of the Vault is a largely pyramidal shaped chamber with multiple cells built onto the slanted ice walls. These cells were originally a simple open room with one entryway and a single light that burned at all hours, with no doors or even windows. Inhabitants were expected to always remain in sight of the watchtower that stood in the center of the main chamber, and luxuries such as sleeping under a blanket were not permitted. The only ways in and out of the main chamber were the heavily guarded entryway in the ceiling, or through the guard doors on the ground floor. Those who managed to pass the guards above were met by the iconic vault door - tightly sealed, and those who managed to get through the doors below found themselves in the guards’ quarters and a dead end. Current residents have since heavily altered the cells, and various personal touches have been added to create a more welcoming environment. Each dwelling has their own assortment of curtains, tapestries, and even elaborately carved wooden doors for privacy. Furs, carpets, and other floor coverings have been crafted to hide dwellings' icy floors, giving them a much warmer feel. With fewer residents remaining, dragons have been able to take as much space as they need, and so some have torn down walls between cells to form lavishly large chambers. The watchtower that once stood in the center was torn down, and its sturdy foundation was converted into a warm bathing pond. Succulent plants of all shapes and colors now thrive off the slightly warmer air and magic within the Vault and have begun growing here and there, though the inhabitants keep the growth of these plants under control so they remain pleasing to the eye. The iconic Vault door remains sealed in most cases, but it is now easier to open from the inside - allowing inhabitants the freedom to come and go if they please - though they never do so. The Vault now serves mainly as a sanatorium, and secondly as a rest stop for those seeking to gain exalted status. ______ The Glacial Vault is a complex built into one of the Icewarden's older, forgotten prisons in a mountainous spire of ice.
