Hello there, I am Cynar, resident Historian for Jötunheimr. The following is an excerpt from my book "A modern history on an unrecorded clan, Dresden's Jötunheimr" I learned of this information second hand, admittedly, however I think you'll find that it is the most accurate information you'll find anywhere about Jötunheimr. 35649677p.png

Beginning
  • Dresden begins his hollowing out of a small cavern, on the northern edges of the Snowquall Tundra. Dresdens own origins are cloudy, but he claims to have started digging soon after hatching outside alone.
  • Dresden allows the fugitive, Airtongue, respite in his cavern. She decides to help him gather more allies to grow the lair and the clan.
  • Over a small period of time, Dresden gathers a witch doctor, an assistant, a security manager and a personal bodyguard, forming his inner council.
  • Dresden and Airtongue slowly fill more roles in the clan, such as a gardener, and alchemist and a painter. Soon it becomes clear that they will be expanding much more soon, so Dresden decides its time to move regions so they have more room to grow.

Growing
  • The Cloudscrape Crags were where the clan set up next. Half in a mountain and half deep under a plain, the clan began to grow by leaps and bounds.
  • Dresden allowed large amount of individuals to stay in Jötunheimr, with the catch being that they were all expected to work hard and be loyal to Dresden. As long as they did those two things a dragons history wouldn't matter to the clan.
  • Although most of the early residents of Jötunheimr were of the larger species, such as Guardian, Imperial and Ridgeback, a large influx of the smaller breeds, namely Nocturnes Coatls and Fae dragons led to the first documented usage of the name Jötunheimr for the clan. Until then it was simply a nameless Ice clan led by Dresden
  • Around this time Aurum, a second generation Jötunheimr dragon, leaves for the Sunbeam Ruins, to start a clan of her own. A few Coatls left with her, and Dresden still has a good relationship with Aurum, counting the Clan Sun Bear as one of Jötunheimrs closest allies.

Largest Expansion
  • Reaching Critical mass even in a large lair in the Cloudscrape Crags, Dresden decided to expand into The Fortress of Ends. The old caverns and dens were not closed, but all the entrances via the Cloudscrape Crags were blocked off.
  • Many oddities were found in the mountain that Dresden claimed, due in part to an apparent "Layline Crossover". The validity of these laylines was argued over, however it is inarguable that there are unique aspects in Jötunheimr mountain.
  • Dresden sought out ambassadors for the other flights, as he now had a large and powerful clan to manage. They act as representatives for their flight members in Jötunheimr, and as communicators to powerful clans in the other regions.
  • Historians, statisticians and other information keepers were hired to begin keeping track of the many dragons and stories that were held within the icy walls of the lair.

36179622p.png I'm Rogue, a hired... subtle information gatherer. My job is to report and observe information from dragons who are unaware that i'm reporting and observing them. Here is information I've gathered about the factions in Jötunheimr. More in depth info is here. We never met, by the way.

Jötunheimr Regulars
These are the guys just getting by. There here to work, eat, sleep, and live their lives. The average Joe. You get the picture. Led by, of course, the leader of Jötunheimr, Dresden. He's a fair enough guy, I suppose, but he has a bit of a habit of making sure the most disloyal or unruly dragons find places "more suitable", which means far away from the lair. Every dragon not included in the other factions should be assumed to be here. Pretty much everyone is happy with the rule, except for...

Mykia's Faction
Now here we have a classic case of greed. The leader of this faction, Mykia, loves power. Money power, in charge power, you name it she wants it. Her job is to be in charge of the treasury, and if she were any less skilled at it she would be long gone. Her mate, Gryphon, is very strong and very very loyal to Mykia. She has also bought the loyalty of a few other dragons in the lair, but not enough to be making big power plays so she can be a Queen in Jötunheimr. Whether Dresden knows or not is unclear at the moment, but if he lets it go on for too long then Mykia might just be the new clan leader.

Jötunheimr Magical Society
Led by the ever-friendly Rosetta, this group is loyal to Dresden but loves their magic more than anything. The inner-circle would be the Witches Coven, a group of happy-go-lucky female nocturnes all educated in witchcraft and magic, but the many other wizards and warlocks would also be included in this group

The Ambassadors
These fine folk are probably the only dragons in Jötunheimr allowed to openly obey someone else above Dresden. Not really a tight group, they are more there so that dragons from other, non-ice flights still have contact with their homelands, and so that if messages or guidance is needed they can easily be provided. There is quite a range of backgrounds here are from, noble-dragons bred and groomed to be ambassadors, to experiments in loyalty to the deities, to dragons that seemed to have been picked completely at random. [columns][img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/portraits/207416/20741556p.png[/img][nextcol][color=#4A6EB3]I am Atbu, faithful servant of the Icewarden. I have served his will for many years, as a Jailer. I was sent to Jötunheimr to observe what kind of Dragons were here in the Icewarden's realm, and to make sure that their path aligned with that of the Icewarden's. Here is my objective report on religion in Jötunheimr.[/color][/columns] ----- [columns]It is obvious to any servant of the Icewarden that the Jötunheimr clan is not as devoted as a clan this powerful should be. There is no museum to house frozen fossils and artifacts, no temple for the dedicated to worship at. Between my time as a Jailer and guiding the Ice Flight dragons here who need help, I have not been able to begin constructing any monuments to the Icewarden. I will be sure to remedy this in the future. Indeed, even the open worship of other gods is allowed here. Fire dragons will say a quick prayer to the Flamecaller before forging, songs of the Windsinger will blow through mead halls and inns, curses in the name of the Shadowbinder flow from the mouths of the less civilized. Even more chilling is the regard of false deities. A priest who claims to worship some god of the stars, Taurus, is allowed to openly practice his rituals. Some pagan witches offer treats to spirits of the land, when the true ruler of the land is the Icewarden. And worse than all of this is open defiance of any gods by so-called "Scholars", who in turn corrupt the minds of more the more gullible dragons. Doubt of the total power of the Deities, especially the Icewarden, is clearly rampant here. Not a single holy-dragon is considered in Dresdens "Inner Circle", and even Dresden himself cannot be considered to be one of the devoted.[nextcol][img]http://68.media.tumblr.com/2a8ec306a0cacfa783a28db1d9021503/tumblr_inline_nliqemxRvE1s47tby_250.png[/img][/columns] [columns][img]http://flightrising.com/images/cms/trinket/1082.png[/img][nextcol] There is also the self proclaimed seer of spirits, Strangetail. Is totally blind, but when I went to investigate the claims of prophecy, she knew where I was and my name. Strange, indeed. In conclusion, the leadership here allows many different cultures and religious practices, so long as it harms and bothers no other dragons.
20741556p.png I am Atbu, faithful servant of the Icewarden. I have served his will for many years, as a Jailer. I was sent to Jötunheimr to observe what kind of Dragons were here in the Icewarden's realm, and to make sure that their path aligned with that of the Icewarden's. Here is my objective report on religion in Jötunheimr.

It is obvious to any servant of the Icewarden that the Jötunheimr clan is not as devoted as a clan this powerful should be.

Not a single holy-dragon is considered in Dresdens "Inner Circle", and even Dresden himself cannot be considered to be one of the devoted.

In conclusion, the leadership here allows many different cultures and religious practices, so long as it harms and bothers no other dragons.

[columns]Beastclans? Most dragons in Jötunheimr don't see them very much. There are a few domesticated Longnecks staying with us, but if you asked a random dragon they're about as likely to say the beastclans are evil as not. Truth is each one is about as smart as any of us, and they all choose.
