Setting: Not long before Lexa had taken over as leader of the Melohn she had found a partner, Costia, who became her girlfriend. This takes place not long after Lexa became the leader.
Costia had been missing for several days. The attack on camp had been so swift, so well planned out - Costia had been missing for hours before anyone had noticed her absense. How could she be so stupid? Lexa paced back and forth, growling with frustration and a growing concern for her mate. Her claws clicked against the stone that made up the floor of her tent, the noise breaking the silence that the rest of the camp was in. There had been few casualties in the attack but Costia had been taken and Lexa knew exactly why. The enemy clan had likely assumed that, as Lexa's mate, Costia must know secrets about the clan and secrets about Lexa that could be ultilized and used against them. Lexa let out a roar and bashed her claws against the rock below her, shattering it. How could she let this happen? Her girlfriend, her mate, her love was taken because the enemy had assumed that there were secrets to be learned. Costia was too soft to last long...
Suddenly one of Lexa's spies, Glae, walked into her tent. He held his head low, knowing of the swift and cold wrath of their queen, especially at times like these. "Lexa, I bring news," he stated, bowing his head and glancing up at her. When she nodded for him to continue, he took a rattled breath. "Costia has been taken back to their home base. We see no way in - it is heavily fortified. A storm of brute force is not advised. Reconaissance determined that she is being tortured for information. She will...she will likely die soon." He glanced, concerned for his queen. She had turned away from him, looking at the wall of her tent. Rising, he took a step toward her. "I am sorry my queen. I know you loved her and-"
"Love is a weakness." Lexa turned around slowly, her cold gaze sending shivers through her clanmate. "We must look into the eyes of our warriors and tell them go die for me. I am more than capable of seperating feeling from duty. We will grow back from this far stronger than before. We must be prepared for the coming of Arenji." They had been attacked and Costia had died for Arenji - Lexa was determined to make sure it was a justified cause.
