[item=gaseous megashrimp] (*inhales* Pink. . . let's talk.) Day 163: "We've been trying to get him to drink some water every five minutes, but he can barely breathe anymore," Arion admitted, sliding up to Seraph's side with a look of lost hope spread across his face. "August has to magically pump air into his lungs, and even that's getting difficult. He doesn't even look. . . alive." Arion added in a hoarse whisper, his eyes growing wide. Seraph was splayed out on a bed of large leaves, his eyes tightly shut and something that looked like bubbles of ash foaming at the corners of his mouth. August sat nearby, his eyes glowing faintly as he moved his talons in a rhythmic motion through the air, gently feeding oxygen into the tiny fae's mouth. Opal set a few feet away, trying to keep her hatchlings and Luce busy with Charlie in order to keep them away from the sorry sight. "I'm not sure how long he'll last, at this rate." Another voice said softly, almost drifting out of the darkness. Lost emerged into the daylight, the worry dominating her features even visible beneath the shadow of her hood. "They've been whispering to me for a while now. They tell me he's going to die anyway, though his spark of life is still strong. They want—" Her voice suddenly hitched and Lost squeezed her eyes shut tightly as a wave of pain seemed to roll over her. "They want. . . his life, I suppose." Arion coiled up beside her and softly placed his talons over hers, a sad smile playing at his lips. Lost caught his eye and almost seemed to smile back, but her expression was robbed of happiness faster than the earth was plunged into shadow at dusk. "I-I don't want him to die." The pearlcatcher murmured quietly, her head turned away from Seraph's limp shape as if the sight of him physically pained her. Jade sighed, shaking her head lightly. "None of us do." She admitted with a small frown. "I'm afraid this part of the forest is more dangerous than we thought, even with the shadow wolves gone." The spiral continued with a slightly deflated voice. "And we haven't even found Juno and Romeo yet. Seraph might die, we're being hunted by all sorts of things, and it's been increasingly difficult to keep track of all the dragons we're taking care of. Maybe it would have been better if we'd stayed in Rivermouth." "Don't put yourself down like that." August said from the other side of Seraph, his brow creased with worry as he continued gently pushing wind into the fae's mouth. "A bunch of good stuff has happened since you brought us into the forest, and Seraph might have fallen sick anyways. This doesn't seem very natural, so he probably didn't catch it on his travels." The skydancer added in a low, worried voice. "We'll find a cure soon." Arion put in hopefully, squeezing Lost's talons and giving her what he hoped was a heart-lifting smile. "He can't be the only one who has come down with this weird sickness. There's a town nearby, right? We could find a cure there pretty easily!" "Hmm. . . doubtful." Another voice put in helpfully, practically radiating from the shadows. "Looks more like the concequences of an ill-executed experiment to me. The things that happen to the poor creatures are simply dreadful. None of them ever survive. This fellow is no different." They added after a moment's contemplation, their voice mingled with haughty superiority. Half the dragons in the clearing looked terror-stricken, but the other half did double-takes. They all turned to the forest and craned their necks, squinting into the shadows as if hoping to discern a familiar figure. A smug, melodious laugh wafted out of the forest like a gentle breeze moments before a dragon melted out of the darkness, his dazzlingly blue scales and eerie, predator-like eyes catching them all off guard. He looked remarkably young to be using such extravagant wordplay, five years old at most. He grinned at them with a cheeky smile that suggested he knew more than they did, and his odd, slitted eyes darted from one face to the next as they took them all in. He looked lithe and muscular for someone so young, something distinctly elegant or royal about the way he walked and talked. "Hello." The hatchling said simply, sweeping into a modest bow. "I have come for the Prince." It took everyone a few long moments of stunned silence to realize what he was talking about, then they started turning heads and mumbling awkwardly to the dragons nearest to them. At first, a few people glanced at August, who responded with an Omg no please no look until they eventually diverted their attention to Arion. The handsome young spiral was staring with his mouth slightly open at the small wildclaw presented in front of him, squinting at him as though he were a smudged, blurred shape on an old photograph "Why do I. . . think I know you?" Arion asked slowly as if he were afraid of his own tongue. The wildclaw grinned mischievously. "You don't actually." He replied, stretching his talons out and lazily gazing down at them as the light danced off his faceted scales. "But I know you, and that's what is relevant at the moment." "What do you mean, 'you've come for the prince'." Lost cut in abruptly, protectively stepping in front of Arion. It took the wildclaw a single glance between the two for him to figure our their relationship, and he broke into yet another smirk. "Oh, not to take him away of course." He assured them with a casual flick of his wings. "The ol' boss man just wanted me to check in an make sure Princy here stayed safe." The wildclaw explained, reaching over and patting Arion on the neck, ignoring the sharp glance he received in return. "Stormy's been detecting some abnormally evil energy signatures in the forest lately and, naturally, sent me to look after our Dragonborn prodigy." He added with a slight smirk. "Wait. . . dragonborn?" August asked him, looking thoroughly confused. "Aren't we all. . . oh." The skydancer suddenly blanched and retreated into a sitting position, staring at the wildclaw with renewed fear. "So. . . you're not a dragon?" Jade piped up curiously, gesturing vaguely at his very dragon-like shape. The wildclaw merely beamed at hem all and wagged a little claw in their direction. "No promises!" He chirped cheerfully, easily shrugging off the wide array of looks he just received from the dragons clustered in front of him. "I'm only here to make sure the Prince doesn't end up dying a painful death so that I won't be tortured for the next century." This was greeted by a very tense silence, in which the newcomer didn't do much other than blink, smile, and occasionally glance at his claws, as if he was waiting for a message. "But we don't even know your name." Hester pointed out suddenly, the first of the three dragonets to speak, poking her head over Jade's shoulder. "You have one of those, right?" Only then did the newcomer's smile falter, giving them a glimpse of an expression that looked strangely sinister. It was gone an instant later, replaced by the usual, impish grin "Why yes, I suppose I do have one of those." The wildclaw remarked, casually flicking his tail. "And, naturally, I'd assume you all to want to call me something in order to treat me like a proper guest, correct?" He added, flourishing his claws at them. "Wait, you're stayiOUCH!" Arion cried, cut off abruptly as Lost stamped hard on his foot. The hatchling chuckled at this, looking rather amused. "Yes, we'd like to be able to call you something." Jade put in helpfully, stealing a glance at Lost and Arion. "We have several other dragons here who chose their own names. There's Fog, Myu—he's right over there—Satira, I suppose. . . and Odyssey chose his own name too, right?" She added brightly glancing at the dragonet cowering behind her. He shook his head vigorously, but it seemed for like a feeble attempt at shaking off fear than an answer to Jade's question. "That sounds pleasant, actually." The wildclaw mused, tilting his head sideways so shattered sunlight spun over the ground. "Far better than 'servant' or 'boy' or some of the alternative titles I usually go by. How about West?" He said suddenly, his odd, dark eyes lighting up with delight. "Why West?" Lost asked him curiously, her voice slowly softening. The wildclaw turned and grinned at her, flashing his sharp, pearly-white teeth. "Because that's where I come from, of course." He replied helpfully, gesturing in the direction from whence he came. "Has a nice right to it, doesn't it?" "But isn't the Shifting Expanse in the East?" August asked questioningly. The wildclaw merely glanced at his claws again. "That's not where I come from." He replied tiredly, his voice suddenly sounding empty and void of emotion. It was creepy, almost like what it might feel like if a ghost phased through you or someone hit you over the head with an empty plastic bottle. His words were greeted by yet another rigid silence. "Sure!" Jade put in brightly, breaking the tension like a string with her beaming smile. "West it is. I'm sure we can cope with that, right?" She said, glancing pointedly at her companions. Several dragons nodded stiffly, others slightly too enthusiastically, but there was a general murmur of agreement through the crowd. West beamed at them all, happily clapping his talons together with a noise that resembled a thunderclap. Everyone flinched. "Well, I suppose it's only polite to again say our hellos." West said in his royal, eloquent voice. He once again swept into a bow, his nose nearly touching the grass beneath his talons. "Greetings, new friends." He said, sitting up and flashing his gleaming teeth at them again. "My name is West, for it is where I come from. And I" He took a long, dramatic pause. "Am the Prince's Escort." ------ @AmberHive @mayanaz @Spottedleaf125 @Skyeset @Moon314 @WildRose42 @CleverDual @Firedawn @Dragondreamer @Shadow104 @ScaledBookworm @LuminusPrime @Dragonfruiteen @DragonMist @Shadowhunter43 @Digimon11 @Avu42 @MythicalMemeLord @Vyxen @VioletEevee @Verdant @Sanddollar @Faolyn @Bluebirdi3 @ThornOfStorm130 @ObsidianMage @Petall @TropicalDiamonds @fenshae @Birdleap18 @SpiceCookie @Catkidemma @WOF2012 @L1llysage @RiaFire11 @shirotsubaki6564 @TruthandLies @NovaBorn @Sugarkit @Millapede85 @russmond Please welcome my new child with open arms. Halloween: 5

Riot of Rot: 1(and a half, I guess)

Thanks :D
