For as long as the Clan of the Two Moons has existed, its dragons have worshipped the two moons that orbit the planet and illuminate the night skies of Sornieth.
It is said that Suleykaarkaal and Paazvahdin, the dragons who founded the clan at the edge of the Sunbeam Ruins centuries ago, are the chosen avatars of Sos, the bigger blood moon, and Rii, the smaller spirit moon, respectively.
Ancient legends tell the story of how the moons are the halves of what was once Lorkhaj, an ancient galactic being even older than the planet or even the Eleven. As the dragon gods warred and formed the lands that would become Sornieth, Lorkhaj split its body in half and let its essence fuse with the bones of the newborn world. This essence would slumber for many ages until one day early into the Fourth Age, it coalesced to form the eggs that would hatch into the clan founders.
Now the clan has grown into a flourishing little coastal village at the edge of the Inner Sea, and its dragons pray to the moons and their sacred phases, observing their orbits and their influence on the members of the village.
The clan's scholars have recorded seventeen different constellations of the moons, each with a different spiritual influence. Eleven align with the elements of the dragon gods, and another six align with further energies of the world. Dragons whose moon phase aligns with their birth element are said to be especially blessed by the universe.

The alignment of the moons is a very rare event that seems to coincide with flares of mysterious Shade activity. Very few dragons are born under this constellation and are often seen as very bad omens. Shade corruption is not uncommon for these dragons.
Legend has it the first stones of the Hewn City were laid during an alignment of the moons, dooming the city to ruin and Shade corruption.[/columns][/columns]

Astrological Notes
The element of a dragon depends on the time of the month they were born.
One Sornieth month equals two entire rotations of Sos, the bigger moon.
During one month, the smaller moon, Rii, rotates eight times.
The alignment of the moons appears out of nowhere
and does not seem to follow any astrological laws.

Addendum:
I don't claim to have come up with the phases of the moon,
that copyright goes to Elder Scrolls! The images of the moons come from here.
If others want to use the phases of the moons for their own clan lore, I would not mind!
Credit would be appreciated but not required.
If anyone wants to talk about the Elder Scrolls with me,
feel free to find me at my personal tumblr blog, tatooinedovah! \o/
That's all! Thanks for stopping by! <3
