Just recently made some clan lore out of my first page, and decided to share it here. ^.^ Feel free to comment or critique, or perhaps share some of your own clan lore (just a link, please, lol) I'm just makin' a friendly lil thread. c: I *might* make it into a story if I feel like it, but for now I've just got some basic history and the royal family's bios. If anyone is interested in reading more as I write, I can always start a pinglist! **PLEASE NOTE!** I have decided that I will be changing the names of Mairsile and Ealdgyth, as they belong elsewhere. I am keeping them for now to establish things. The dragons of Mairsile have a king or queen to rule them. They have scavengers, who go far and wide to gather materials, food, and other wares needed for survival. They have merchants who sell these things, and who also tend gardens. They have a healer to tend their wounds, and occasionally a bard will live with them. They also have caretakers, these help the healer and also take care of things around the kingdom. They also have historians who keep the histories of Mairsile. And, lastly, they have guards who watch over the land, king or queen and the royal family. King Eomer succeeded his father nearly two decades ago. His rule has been fair and kind, but he is also very stern on the order of the kingdom. He comes from a long line of kings, some who used to rule over other kingdoms long past. Mairsile wasn't always there. In fact, it's history is quite interesting. Long, long, ago, the land was filled with mysterious ruins of past lives and with green, thriving hills and vales. The history of these buildings has long since left memory, but their ruins are kept up in high esteem. The dragons built kingdoms in this land, discovering the best ruins to add to them. However, greed over the unknown buildings became a problem. And, as kings do, they fought over land for centuries. Kingdoms fell. New kingdoms rose. Some were razed, others knocked down into new ruins that would live on for centuries later. Kings fought viciously, others lived in peace and prosperity. And then one day a new dragon came. He approached the largest kingdom in the land with an alarming host of dragons, who weren't much in number but were laden with weapons and vicious for war. He sacked the town and villages surrounding the castle, and then proceeded to take it a year later after heavy siege. Thus began the line of Mairsile's current king, Eomer. This new dragon was indeed the first King Eomer, and he was a harsh and vicious dragon. Kind to his people, but a terror and horror to other kings. His army's numbers only grew larger as years passed, and no one dared touch his kingdom, which was called Ealdgyth. Then, once King Eomer I had reached his peak in power, he began to attack other kingdoms. Much land and many villages fell into his lot, and many prized ruins became his for his people to enjoy. Most of his kingship was spent taking land, and no one could touch what he had taken. Ealdgyth prospered for a little over five decades. It was a rich and magnificent kingdom, and many traveled there to live in the wealthy towns and dwell among famous ruins. And then the good, fierce King Eomer began to grow old and tired. He didn't fly out to battle with his army as often, instead placing his sons in his stead. And even then the fighting ceased until it no longer existed. Ealdgyth stopped growing, and Eomer began to die. At last the first king, and the greatest the land had ever seen, passed away. There was much mourning throughout all of Ealdgyth, and many laments were sung. Some are still preserved today, sung in their sad melodies. King Eomer's eldest son, Eomire, became king after him. King Eomire's rein was much like his father's. Not long after his coronation, he took a wife to have children and then set out for war. He fought off encroaching dragons who attempted to try his strength, but he pushed them back as fiercely as his father. He won a little more land for his kingdom, but only a year after he wore the crown new, dangerous threats began to grow. Other kingdoms had risen to high power in the time of King Eomer, and they now fought to claim some of Ealdgyth's famous ruins. After many years of constant war, Eomire was beginning to grow tired of it, especially as some of his land kept being taken. But he couldn't stop the battles. They continued on and on, and eventually Eomire died young, only having reined three decades. He grew sick in a camp away from the front lines, from poor conditions. The many other kings that ruled Ealdgyth shall not be named or mentioned here, as that is a lengthy history. I will, however, tell you how the great and mighty rein of the Gythians came to an end. It started in the twenty-seventh king of Ealdgyth's rein. His name was Eirmor, and was a fierce king who had won back much land for his kingdom in his youth. Now he had been reining for forty-five years, the third longest-living king recorded. Other kingdoms were growing larger and larger, threatening the wealthiest and greatest kingdom, Ealdgyth. Two of the other greatest kings formed an alliance, and set out with a grand army to take the golden land. Eirmor fought hard for the lives of all Gythians. His army was run ragged in an attempt to fight off this huge new threat, but at last, the elder king died in battle. His son, Iomore II, took his place and claimed the crown. And Iomore let his kingdom fall to ruin. It began when he grew soft and let part of his army take a rest, weakening his defense. Many of his dragons were slaughtered because of this, and the army began to turn against him. Iomore II kept making more mistakes, but it was not in his lifetime Ealdgyth fell. He reined for a decade and a year, then was killed in battle. His son, Eomire III, did little to encourage his battered and sorrowful army. It was his father's fault, for he chose his second and favored son over his eldest. Eomire III had lived a life of luxury, and did not understand war. And in his fifth month of rein, the mighty and wealthy kingdom of Ealdgyth finally fell. The eldest son of King Iomore II fled, escaping death. He had to watch as many villages in his kingdom were razed, sacred ruins destroyed, and saw the flag of Ealdgyth burn. The eldest son, Uomer, wept bitterly and went into hiding. Years later, Uomer gathered together followers from the land of Ealdgyth, which had since then been renamed and ruled by cruel kings. Dragons with Gythian blood were eager to reclaim their home and see it restored under rightful rule, but Uomer declined their excitement. He had no chance to reclaim his kingdom. And so instead, Uomer attacked a smaller kingdom and claimed it as his own, but no one paid heed to him. No one wanted that land, and so no one attacked him. The king was wise not to try and take more land, but instead settled down, had children, and watched his land prosper and grow. Uomer called his land Mairsile, for it was nearby the sea. It had many beautiful ruins in it, and some were still being discovered. The land wasn't as grand as Ealdgyth's, but it had its own quaint beauty. Peace settled down, villages were built, and children grew up knowing their fathers. Eleven kings have since succeeded Uomer, each striving to ensure peace instead of land. And each king of Mairsile continues to harbor a hate for the usurpers who have taken their beloved Ealdgyth, and dream of the day they can take back their rightful kingdom. History of Mairsile & Ealdgyth

In this isolated little kingdom, they have a strict and strong order in which the dragons live.

Caretakers act as peacekeepers and judges, and do several jobs. When a dragon is picked out for this position, they must be social and good at multi-tasking as well as having good judgement. Caretakers often: settle disputes between two or more individuals, keep an eye on the market to see nothing illegal is being sold and prices are fair, aid the healer, and help the scavengers distribute their wares evenly. The Caretakers

The actual amount of caretakers in a town vary, depending on its size, but mostly there are at least three.

Usually there are at least five caretakers in the castle town, but as no able dragons have been shown as of late, there are currently only two.
