@DarkElectric woah , I played around with the site for a bit and it's pretty cool. Say, what's a colourist? What do they do?

Honestly? The AI version doesn't look very good. It's practically flat colors with no sense of (actual) shading. Yours actually has cel shading that the AI generated one doesn't have.

That being said, I've seen a lot of people use the AI version as a base for their own paintings. They basically use it as flats and then add their shading on top of it. They'll also remove any AI weirdness - like the brown spot between his legs.

Also, a lot of professional animators and such will use Photoshop plugins which fill in the flats and make it easier for you to just bucketfill the correct colors. Here's one I found:

I know I saw @Coelasquid using one on her tumblr page a while back, but I don't remember the name of it. (Could you let me know what that plug in was?)

So, basically, people have known about this stuff for a while and the jobs still exist.

it was mostly a bit of a joke as I wanted to make a robots are taking our jobs joke. I did just find out about it from a tumblr post and thought it would be cool to share but I had no clue that more stuff like this existed, i guess you do learn something everyday

wow thats some impressive AI, to be honest I do like some fancy AI and I do look forward to what's next while simultaneously fearing it will destroy any chance of feeding my self and my fish
