General Lore Summary

Plague Arc

In August 2014, the clan was afflicted with a plague that incapacitated everyone except Qubine. With just a single egg granted by the Gladekeeper, Qubine began to build a new clan to fight off the plague, and then the newly emboldened Beastclans.

The new clan trained to strengthen themselves, and quite a few still died in the process. Orphne, an Imperial from the Arcane flight, began to study medicine and search for a cure. She eventually succeeded, discovering that the plague was unleashed magically, infecting the Gladekeeper herself, who then inadvertently spread the plague throughout the lair. Orphne used her medicine to cure the Gladekeeper and the sick dragons.

The original clan founders, Usha and Grim, decided that the two clans would remain separate, but live together in harmony. Thus they named their clan the Filia clan.

Qubine then named the clan that he had raised the Kalma clan, meaning Survival. While the threat of the plague is over, the Beastclans remain at large. The Kalma clan will focus on the defense of their lair, while Usha continues her attempts to find a suitable mate for all her dragons.

Fae of Light Arc

The surviving members of the Kalma Clan continue to train and strengthen themselves to battle with the Beastclans. However, their training could not prepare them for what was to come. A young, timid Fae named Liora is searching for the legendary Fae of Light, who is said will bring dragonkind to a golden age of prosperity. However, a much darker threat lurks in the shadows. The dark Nocturne dragon Erebus seeks to engulf the entire world in impenetrable darkness. He begins with the Kalma Clan's lair, calling forth the fallen dragons to do his bidding, and unleashing even more shadow monsters upon the lair. Unable to defeat this enemy, the dragons are forced to scatter and flee. Now the clan must find a way to reunite, and Liora must find a way to stop Erebus before the entire world falls into a permanent age of darkness...

75 Lore Questions

Taken from this tumblr post… https://fenixofthedark.tumblr.com/post/121835761758/75-fr-lore-questions

1. What Flight is your clan?

Nature.

2. Why did they choose this Flight?

It was the most peaceful of all the realms in Sornieth.

3. Have they been loyal to other Flights before this? Or will they never move?

They've never been loyal to other flights, but they do honor them. Before things went down, Usha, Grim, and Qubine used to dress up in the respective holiday's theme every month.

They would never move if they had a choice, but recent tragedy has forced them out of their home, hopefully temporarily.

4. What would be the deciding factor in a move, if the clan had to?

See 3.

5. Is the clan spiritual and highly loyal to their deity? Are they indifferent?

6. How does the clan view those from different Flights? Are they welcoming to all dragons, or suspcious of newcomers?

They are welcoming to dragons of all flights.

7. What does your lair look like? Go into detail.

A spacious area filled with trees and leaves. There are clearings throughout the lair that serve as "bedrooms" for dragons, who usually share such a clearing with their mates or siblings. There is also a clearing for each category of their hoard, and another clearing to bury deceased dragons.

8. Who founded the clan?

Usha and Grim.

9. Who is your clan leader? Why are they the leader? Have there been any leadership changes?

Again, Usha and Grim. And Qubine became the leader of his own clan who shares the lair.

10. Was the leader chosen? Were they elected? An heir to the throne? Or maybe they achieved something within the clan?

Usha and Grim lead the clan because they founded it. Same for Qubine, who raised his clan all by himself.

11. Who handles interclan relations? Any diplomats? Peacekeepers?

Either Usha and Grim would handle the interclan relations, or Qubine and whomever he chooses for it.

12. How does your clan view the Beastclans? Who handles Beastclan relations?

The Beastclans are sworn enemies. Qubine and his clan handle relations mainly by doing battle with them.

13. Does your clan have specific roles for each dragon?

Some of the dragons have specific roles. Coco is the stone carver, and he carves the gravestones for the fallen dragons. Amadeus is the researcher and record keeper. Orphne is the medicine maker. Percival and Brahm are the over-enthusiastic alchemists.

14. Does your clan have any Flight ambassadors? What do they do?

They don't really have Fight ambassadors.

15. Does your clan have a council? An elected group of dragons in power?

They don't have an official council, but Qubine regularly held assemblies for the Kalma Clan, where everyone is welcome to share what's on their mind and discuss any problems that come up.

16. Are all dragons in the clan expected to contribute in some way? Or are they left to their own devices?

The Kalma Clan is more or less left to their own devices. Their training and participation in battles is their contribution to the clan.

17. Who protects the clan? Who is in charge of battling/guarding?

The Kalma Clan as a whole is responsible for protecting both their own and the Filia Clan. Usha and Grim defend the Filia Clan from home while the Kalma Clan is out.

18. Does your clan trade with any other clanS? Any allies? Enemies?

The clan keeps to themselves, and has not made any allies or enemies of the other clans. Which is a good thing, because the Beastclans are tough enough enemies by themselves.

19. How is exalting handled in your clan? Any ceremonies? Is exalt fodder something that is part of your lore?

Exalting isn't really part of my lore. Most of the dragons who have died in the lore are exalted to remove them from my lair. I also regularly exalt fodder for treasure.

20. Who does the gathering in the clan? (digging, scavenging, hunting, etc.)

All of the Kalma Clan dragons bring back whatever they gather while they're out and about. (Which is probably why the hoard is such a mess.)

21. Does your clan have a healer?

All of the Kalma Clan dragons who practice magic can do the healing. And Orphne's medicines will fix whatever can't be cured by magic.

22. Who looks after hatchlings? The parents, or a general hatchling-sitter?

Generally the parents look after their hatchlings until they're grown. Or if the parents must go out, any other adult dragon can volunteer to look after the hatchlings.

23. How does your clan educate younger dragons? Is there a scribe, scholar, or mentor?

Younger dragons are usually "educated" via the clan assemblies. They don't have a formal education system. Everything they learn comes from their own experience.

24. Do you have any artists within your clan? How do they make a living from their crafts?

Coco carves stones as a form of art. Other than carving the tombstones for dead dragons, he might carve other stones as a hobby.

25. Does your clan have a cook? Who handles the food?

Nobody really cooks (except Percival and Brahm, but you really don't want to consume anything that comes out of their pot). All of the food is eaten raw.

26. Who is on the Coli team? Who trains future warriors?

All of the Kalma Clan dragons fight in Coli teams. Although Qubine fights alone most of the time, he takes Usha and Grim for the tougher battles. The other teams are as follows...

Coco, Sabori, Kincaid
Azalea, Malus, Amadeus
Lazarus, Handel, Aether
Orphne, Percival, Brahm
Reiko, Kitty, Brenna
Nadya, Renelle, Lexine
Decilla, Rafadel
Cane, Snowy, Liora

Once a team is formed, they begin their challenge, which is known as the Passage in the Training Fields. The only time a dragon is specially trained is when they are assigned to replace a fallen dragon on an established team, and they're trained to be on the equal level with the team. Qubine usually handles that training, with help from Grim or Usha.

27. Any messengers? Scouts? Delivery dragons?

They've never had to deliver anything.

28. How does apparel work in your clan? Are any pieces of apparel status symbols, or indicators of the role the dragon has?

Only on very few instances. Usha, Grim, and Qubine have the armbands that symbolize the leadership over the two clans. According to Qubine, the apparel a dragon wears reflects who they are, which is the reason he wears his warrior face mask. Many other dragons feel similarly as well. The veteran warrior Sabori wears the Ebony Filigree armor set. The pirate Malus wears pirate gear. Percival and Brahm wear lab coats, gloves, and goggles as they play with science. Those are just a few examples.

29. How are familiars viewed in the clan? Pets? Companions? Friends?

Familiars don't really play a part in my lore.

30. Do you have any familiars that are intelligent enough to directly interact with the dragons?

Not at all.

31. Who cares for the familiars? The familiar's dragon, or a general caretaker?

N/A

32. Are extra familiars/non-bonded familiars free to wander around the lair? Or do they not exist in the lore?

Familiars don't exist in my lore.

33. Does your clan have any Beastclan members living among the ranks?

Absolutely not. That would be traitorous.

34. Who hoards what? Do the dragons each have a personal hoard, or is there one big storage area?

The dragons don't hoard anything individually. There is a separate clearing for each category in the hoard, wherein all their trinkets are thrown into a huge pile. No organization at all.

35. Does your clan specialize in anything?

The Kalma Clan specializes in combat. Only the strong survive.

The Kalma Clan specializes in combat. Only the strong survive.
75 Lore Questions (Part 2)

36. Does your clan stand for anything? (truth, might, knowledge, etc.)

The Kalma Clan stands for survival. The Filia Clan stands for LOVE AND PEACE!

37. What is the origin of your clan's name?

Kalma is a word for "survival," and Filia is a name for "harmony."

38. Does your clan have a set of rules or guidelines for the members? What happens if a dragon breaks these rules?

Not a terribly specific set of rules. Just don't disrupt things or cause trouble, or you might get either a tongue-lashing or a thrashing from Qubine, depending on the severity of the offending dragon's actions.

39. How does your clan view Gen One dragons?

The dragons don't really know who is a Gen One most of the time. The Gen Ones don't know if they had dragon parents, or if they were really born from their respective deity.

40. Does your clan have a territory? Or just the lair?

They just have their lair.

41. Do any dragons in the lair have a bias or dislike towards certain breeds or a Flight?

In the beginning, some of the dragons had a bias against the Plague flight due to the plague they were facing at the time. That didn't stop them from welcoming Plague dragons into their clan, though.

42. Which dragons are good friends within your clan? Any enemies? Best couple?

The closest thing they have to an enemy would be Decilla, but she turned out to be a terrible traitor. The clan recognizes the fact that she's simply prideful in her element, and that she's been lost since the Plaguebriger cut her off. Malus had also caused trouble in the beginning by kidnapping Azalea. To this day, Coco still doesn't trust him. He wouldn't be considered a full on enemy, though.

There were many good friends among the Fallen. Xander and Steele would be one example. Coco and Kladeos were good friends until Kladeos's death.

Good friends among the survivors; of course the Coliseum teams are close with each other (with the exception of Decilla and Rafadel).

Best couples: Among the surviving dragons, they Coco and Azalea, and Qubine and Shayla. Among the Fallen: Beryl and Katarina; and Merrick and Tyra. Kladeos and Anesia were close as well.

43. Who's the cinnamon roll, and who's the problematic fave?

Cinnamon roll? Probably Orphne or Azalea. Problematic fave, probably Malus.

44. Do you have any dragons that aren't part of the lore? Just for show?

The Filia Clan is mostly just for show and breeding except Usha and Grim.

45. Are there any dragons in your clan who dislike hatchlings?

Not particularly. Otherwise, they're welcome to leave, especially given that Usha just adores hatchlings.

46. How do permababies work in your lore? Do you have any?

The only permababy in my lore is Boligra. She's an egg brewed in Percival and Brahm's cauldron. Because their concoction is incomplete, Boligra is unable to mature physically or mentally.

47. Who manages the treasure and gem hoards?

There's no designated treasure or gem manager.

48. Has your clan gone through any unfortunate events? Tragedies, even?

Oh, plenty. The birth of the Kalma Clan revolves around the plague that struck the Filia Clan, in which Qubine was the only one unaffected. During his quest to raise his new clan, quite a few dragons have died in their battles.

Most recently, the dark dragon Erebus attacked the lair, reanimated the dead dragons who unleashed even more of the Shade to corrupt the lair. Usha and Grim safely evacuated the Filia Clan to the Windswept Plateau, but the Kalma Clan was scattered as the dragons were forced to flee. They are still trying to reunite somehow.

49. Are roles assigned to dragons when they are born/come into the clan, or do they choose their role?

The dragons mostly choose their roles, but Amadeus often assigns their Coliseum teams.

50. Who kills the spiders?

No one really kills the spiders, until the insect-eating dragons decide to eat them.

51. Who eats all the food?

The meat-eaters eat more food than anyone.

52. Do you have any tricksters or prank loving dragons? Do they cause mischief?

Hardly. There's no time for mischief in the Kalma Clan. It may just lead to a thrashing from Qubine.

53. Most intimdating dragon?

Percival and Brahm, paws down. Most of the clan just finds them creepy.

54. Most friendly dragon?

Perhaps a toss-up between Azalea, Orphne, or Shayla.

55. Dragon most likely to bring back a stick from gathering?

All of the dragons will bring back just about anything they gather. Even sticks have some use, whether to start a bonfire, or to dump into Percival and Brahm's cauldron. Orphne may even use sticks in her medicine from time to time.

56. Laziest dragon?

No lazy dragons here.

57. Funniest dragon?

Probably Malus.

58. Do you have any sub-clans? What are they called?

Between the Filia Clan and the Kalma Clan, I'm not sure which is the sub-clan. The Filia Clan is the clan that originated, but 99% of my lore revolves around the Kalma Clan.

59. Does your clan decorate the lair at all? How so?

Barely. The Burial Grounds are decorated with the tombstones that Coco carved. The only tombstones that are decorated are Beryl's and Katarina's, which are decorated with the feathered wings that they wore in life.

60. What markers does your clan use to let others know they live in the area? Flags? Banners? Runes?

They don't have any particular markers.

61. Smartest dragon?

Probably Amadeus in terms of education. Qubine has a brilliant tactical mind, though.

62. The dragon everybody loves?

That's a tough one. Qubine is well-respected by everybody, but I wouldn't call it love.

63. The dragon everybody hates?

Most of the older Kalma dragons aren't too fond of Decilla.

64. Do you have a clan rune?

Nope.

65. Pick a song that best describes your clan.

I have a whole playlist for both of my story arcs, but if I had to pick one song, it would be "Unbroken" by Black Veil Brides.

66. Who gets into arguments the most? Who keeps the peace?

Malus and Amadeus bicker a lot. However, the most vicious arguments are often between Decilla and Rafadel.

67. How do skins and accents work in your lore?

I think they work the same as genes. They develop on dragons for some unknown reason.

68. Best dressed?

Another tough one. I don't think any dragon is better dressed than everyone else.

69. Does your clan have any elders?

Well, Amadeus considers himself an elder, even among those who are older than he. That's just a mental effect of the maturity scroll that he got into as a hatchling, however.

70. Does each dragon in your lair have their own space, or is the entire lair shared?

As mentioned before, either siblings or mates have their own clearing to serve as their private den for sleeping or lounging.

71. How do you handle gene scrolls in your lore?

During the Plague Arc, the Gladekeeper had granted gene scrolls to dragons who have reached a certain level in their Passage. Now the genes can develop at anytime, regardless.

72. Who loves festivals the most? Who parties the hardest?

Lately the Kalma Clan hasn't had time to worry about festivals, but before the plague, Usha, Grim and Qubine used to dress up in the respective holiday's theme.

73. Pick two dragons and talk about their relationship.

Man, it was hard to pick just two dragons. I guess I'll just talk about the heroine and villain of my current lore arc, Liora and Erebus. Aside from the common light vs. darkness trope, Erebus really has his eye on Liora. He's fixated on her, filled with admiration. He's not sure whether to call it love, though. He wants her all to himself, so despite the fact that she's the biggest obstacle to ambitions, he wants to spare her from the corruption of the world and keep her for himself. Liora, on the other hand, is simply terrified of him, but she can't help but feel pity for him, since she suspects that he's merely a victim of the Shade.

74. Choose one dragon and talk about them.

Okay, I'll talk about the newest dragon to my lore, Tarak. He originally hatched as a Lemon/Coal/Grape color combo, and I was seriously thinking about exalting him. However, I decided to gamble on a scatterscroll, because I had more than enough gems for it. Now I'm glad I did. Only one scatterscroll, and he's become the perfect Earth warrior. Never have I gened a dragon so fast since I've been on this site.

Lore-wise, he's not officially part of the clan. He's that mysterious lone warrior who's on a mission of his own. The Earthshaker has warned him that his Charge will be the most significant in Sornieth's history. Little does Tarak know how his mission will intertwine with Liora's…

75. Choose a dragon with a familiar and talk about their relationship.

I don't incorporate the familiars into my lore, so that's out.
