With the founder Fala and her mate Locien only wanting enough room at first to start a family on their own and open up their jewelry crafting services to sell. The two fire dragons chose to make their home in the blacksand annex and carve their living space into the stone itself. Though not as skilled at this as an earth dragon, the two of them made a shop with the rocks and clay around them and claimed a sizable area of land from the cliff-sides leading out into the sea. The main focus was a forge and crafting shop of clay and stone of which the two dragons wanted to make their living out of. To the back of the forge though was a small cave structure with a single suitable fire nest for the two of them to start their family. Most of the rest of their land was flat volcanic rock. With more and more dragons eventually joining their family, they kept their shop and their nest but expanded it to have more shops surrounding and living space above and below. The flat rock became populated with dwellings for a larger clan and areas for supply keeping and trading. [/size][/center][/columns] ----- [size=5][b]___[u]Founding[/u]_________[/b][/size] [size=2]Fala is the true founder of the clan, with her ambition to become a successful jewelry maker with her deft small hands and skill in the forge. She spent time before the clan apprenticing under master forgeworkers that served the Flamecaller, but found her skill was with necklaces, rings, and figures rather than swords and armor. While apprenticing in her youth she met an tundra by the name of Locien and the two of them grew close. Locien was not a forger like she was, but was skilled in glass blowing and fell in love with Fala's passion and strove to match it with his own. They originally had only planned to open up a business together in the areas that were more populated during the flameforger's festivals, but decided they wanted to start a family in the middle of planing, leading them to the blacksand annex where nests were more readily available. After getting their land set up and their territory established, they named it Blackforge and began working towards their goals. They had their first nest and raised their children as they worked on their crafts, selling jewelry to those who passed by and eventually gaining more and more regular customers from as far off as the sunbeam ruins. As their little spot of land became busier, they got offers for help and offers for neighboring shops and of course those dragons moving onto their land brought with them their mates and children and from there it just grew. With Fala and Locien and their hatchlings presiding over the land and those living on it, the Blackforge shop had indeed at some point in the second year become a proper clan with bustling trade from eventually nearly every flight in Sorineth and their clan was just as varied! The Blackforge clan had everything from the native forge crafts to woodcarvers ad stone carvers, to a couple of builders and caregivers, even a few political ambassadors had come and made their home in the Blackforge. The clan was a bustling trade center for the first 10 years of its existence and eventually settled down into a calmer trade stop with a loyal customer base and established trade routes. For the next 15 years it was peaceful and trade was good. Many strong dragons were raised and send off to both other clans and to the Flamecaller to serve as master crafters of their trades.[/size] ----- [size=5][b]___[u]The Fall[/u]_________[/b][/size] [size=2]Inexplicable disasters are far too common in the blacksand annex and clans often fall to natural disasters or even disappear into the smoke overnight. Blackforge was not fortunate enough to avoid this and not strong enough to survive. The line of lava that the clan sourced for their forge and nests was drying up. They began to source lava from elsewhere, which was obviously hard and expensive to transport. The clan leaders had to accept that their home may no longer be suitable and considered moving farther up the mountain. However, this caused strife between clan members who used other bits of the land or simply didn't want to move away from their home. Those desperate enough suggested they dig farther in to try to get their lava to flow once more. Fala agreed to let them, hoping that even if it didn't work it would sooth the unrest in the clan. Weeks of drilling and digging later the lava flow returned full force to the forge and nests. It took drilling far higher into the stone than before, but it seemed as f the lava stream might have even been stronger. The dragons living there were happy to get things back to normal and prepared a celebratory feast. The celebration was short lived however as mere hours later the forge burst. Lava began shooting out of the forge and into the main clan area. Non-native dragons were engulfed and burnt alive while fire dragons fled the scene with all of their belongings and homes destroyed. The ground below them on the cliff side began to give way and the entire clan was doomed. Those not engulfed in lava or buried in a rockslide of lava and stone shards were swept out to sea with no chance of return. [/size]
