Bard adopt by ibook "Welcome! I'm Bard. All those of good heart are welcome here. I hope you enjoy your stay." Bard, famous minstrel, wandered for some time with his ragtag followers; snatched from death's cold embrace, or drifting in carried by unlikely winds. The night they settled in the depths of the Viridian Forest, they came upon the Heart's clearing. All felt a sense of ease and peace come upon them, and they happily settled around its vast trunk, grateful for the shelter and the inexplicable sense of safety. Even the scouts slept that night, and in their dreams, they heard it whisper to them. Mephala was the first to awaken, just before dawn. She raised a hand to her face, feeling tears slick on her cheeks- then her eyes fell to the harp at her side. She had no voice, so she used the voice of the strings to sing out in praise and thanksgiving. The others awoke slowly to the sound, humming to themselves before they were even awake- Bard woke up with his hands already stirring on his lute, the notes and words streaming across his mind in a blurring flash, so eager to escape his hands and his lips. The clan sung together, and the birds in the forest joined in, and the tree's leaves whispered and the wind whipped up amongst its branches in sighing chorus- and in that moment of unity and wordless understanding, the Oakheart clan was born. |
Founders of Oakheart, In Order Of Appearance
First it was Bard, wandering the land in search of a home, and also searching for himself. He came upon Mephala, beset by wolves, and helped fight them off by using his lute as a blunt instrument, and the two walked together, in companionable silence or cheery music as they walked, developing the kind of bond that goes beyond words. Solus and Goldanna were looking for a safe place and happened upon the fireside in the Viridian where the two musicians played, and not long after, Goldentop turned up out of the blue- teleported into the camp, took one look, said 'Nah, this ain't the Wastes-" and disappeared.
After about ten minutes of the dragons remarking on the strangeness of this brief visitation, hypothesizing about the nature of the mysterious stranger, another pop like a champagne cork and a panting gold fae reappeared, clutching a sack bigger than itself that made a clinking crash like gold on gold when she dropped it and flung herself down by the fireside without further explanation. She grinned up at them, lying on her back by the glowing embers, unabashed and cheerful. "Wotcha! You chaps seem decent, 'ow's about I crash with youse fer a bit?" She hugged the treasure tightly to her chest; "Least till they forget my description. Wildclaws, man," She rolled her eyes theatrically; "Tiny arms, but damn if they can't run."
There was clearly more to the story, which Bard has never finished getting out of Goldentop, because the fae's tale of triumphs and near-misses and hilarious mishaps, thefts and capers seems endless. It sure makes for good story material though, and even though they parted ways and travelled on, the tiny mischievous fae conveniently just kept turning up wherever the band went, often with something over her arm, never 'technic'ly' belonging to her, but somehow this was family.

Clan Allegiances: Sister Clans:
LauchlanLuck's Luck's Dragon Sanctuary Placeholder, logo by Akaineko | This vast lair on the edge of a black abyss is a series of castles and guarded gatehouses, all beyond a very high wall. The strength and resilience of the inhabitants is reknowned, and a spiritual mother to all, Lessa the matriarch oversees all changes, comings and goings with a watchful, protective, stern but loving and fair gaze. It is protected by a small army of knight-guardians, notably Sir Ebonstar, Sir Braveheart and Sir Redemption, whose tasks are to oversee different areas of the citadel and ensure that no evil comes in, nor does anything get stolen for ill reasons. While Lessa is faith-driven, she believes that we can do more while we're here, on this land, alive, than we can by dying and theoretically going to serve a god. Many notable elderly dragons from Oakheart, Frost Seelie Court or Sun Soul Clan come here to live out their days in peaceful retirement, safe from the ravages of war, strife, or the possibility of going to serve the deities- Lessa's strict never-exalt policy has saved many lives, as her agents scour back markets and auction houses to snatch innocents from the clutches of oblivion. |
