Forest Field Guide

It's not often the doors to the Clarus Clan's archives are wide open, an invitation for any and all to enter. But this is a special celebration and, in honour of this, the archivist has allowed guests to enter and view the Clan's full history.

There is a signpost placed outside the small path in the ferns. It reads:
Quote:
Quiet please! Archivist at work. Visitors welcome.

You pick your way through the ferns carefully, trying not to trip over the gangling roots climbing over the forest floor. As you round the bend, you see the tall, tan-and-blue Skydancer standing beside a flat-topped boulder. You recognize Neva, the Clan's revered archivist. She gives you a warm smile.

Beside her, atop the boulder, lies a thick book with yellowed pages and many bookmarks and notes sticking out along the edges. She waves a gem-bonded claw to the book, welcoming you forward.

Year of the Tides, 3rd of the Earthshaker's Dominance

This is the beginning of my records.

I am Neva, the newly-appointed archivist of the Clarus Clan. By request of our founder and matriarch, Sonata, I will from this point forward commence the history of this Nature Clan. Although I am happy to help, it was Aurora's idea - and she has provided me with any and all of the supplies I require. I have only recently joined the Clan, which is still in its foundling stages, but as a scholar and a practiced Arcanite, I feel it is my duty to help the Clan which I now call home.

By the eleven, I promise to keep my writing of the Clan as truthful and unbiased as I am able.

Year of the Tides, 4th of the Earthshaker's Dominance

From what I have seen so far, the Clan is bustling despite their young age. As far as I have gathered, the Clan has been founded and growing only half a season ago, in the Dominance of the Lightweaver. They are still a small Clan, but improving greatly. Dragons from all over have joined the Clan quite early on, helping out in all ways. Three dragons have grouped together - Tethys, Gossamer and Oshkana - and they are working on many projects: Expanding our treasure vaults, protecting our territory, gathering food, and defending the Clan from Shade-stolen souls. They are quickly growing stronger, which is perhaps the most important objective at the moment.
As of yesterday, the Clan has also formed two Councils to help manage everything in a more orderly fashion - this, again, was Aurora's suggestion. It is no wonder that she is on the Council Majora! But there is no foul play involved: She is a necessity to the Clan, as the primary organizer, keeping everything and every-dragon on track. As for myself, I find myself on the Council Minora. The members of the Councils are as follows:

Council Majora
-Sonata
-Dusk
-Ashlesha
-Aurora
-Sarako

Council Minora
-Nighttide
-Neva
-Misthaven
-Gossamer

Our Clanmates welcomed the newly elected Council-members with a big celebration that went on nearly all night. I trust all of my Council-mates to handle their duties honestly and efficiently for the good of the Clan.

Year of the Tides, 7th of the Stormcatcher's Dominance

Correspondence with our first ally, the Clan Dawn, has been going well. They are one of the first fellow Nature Clans to welcome us to this area, and we have formed a strong bond with them. Several of our own hatchlings have gone to their Clan to grow and learn their ways, and we wish them all the best of luck. In return, the Clarus Clan has offered to host the hatchlings of our ally to uphold our alliance. This includes Oshkana and Sarako, who were the cementing factors in our negotiations.

Otherwise, things continue to go well for the Clarus Clan.

Year of the Tides, 1st of the Tidelord's Dominance

The Clans first Flight Festival has arrived! It is the Wavecrest Saturnalia, the celebration of the Tidelord and the Water Flight, and we are all looking forward to the celebration. The boardwalk includes many great activities and events, with some great prizes for the winners! I plan to spend the day exploring with my Clanmates, I'll be sure to write more later!

Year of the Tides, 6th of the Tidelord's Dominance

Wow! It's been a busy season. So much has gone on with the Wavecrest Saturnalia, but here are the highlights:

Cascade has felt right at home in his element, and he's happy to show everyone around his old stomping grounds. Aurora has been enjoying herself at the Hatchling Predictions, trying her best to guess the appearance of some Droplets expected to hatch this season. Our coliseum team has been busy scavenging for more Giant Sand Dollars, and they've had luck on their side: we've found two festival chests with treasure inside! They've been put in our vault for now, but I say, they will be worth something one day!

When he's had a spare moment from scavenging for currency, Oshkana has been raving about this one bakery, convincing many others to give it a try - I will say, I tried some of the raisin cookies and it wasn't all too bad! Atheria has been absent for most of the season - she was hired as a temporary intern with this large comapny, Water Inc., but I heard that there has been a lot of trouble at her workplace. She has been busy trying to solve some issues over there - wishing her all the best! Other Clanmates have tried their luck at fortune telling, writing and a few even entered the Water Raffle.

As for myself, I've just been wandering around, taking it all in. It's been a lot of fun! For the Clan's first festival, I believe it's been a success.

Although we have been having a steady flow of new members, these two dragons are worth noting for particular reasons. Marcus is from a nearby Nature Clan, and although he is young (fully grown, but young) he is wise beyond his years. He has an understanding for other dragons, and has been invited to join the Council Majora as the Clan's Ambassador. Later on in the day, Marcus was one of the first to meet a young Nocturne by the streams who was dubbed Snarl. Still a hatchling, he was taken in by Nighttide, who is also caring for some other hatchlings. Snarl has been the first dragon to join the Clan grudgingly, it seems. Although I can't say for certain, as he hasn't said very much - he isn't the friendliest of dragons, as his name suggests. But one of the other hatchlings, a chilly Ice Fae by the name of Ascendence, seems to have warmed up to the Nocturne. They get along, which is perhaps all they needed. I have heard one of the Skydancers in the Clan, Sierra, muttering about some rumours, of something that happened not long ago in the Plaguelands. There is a connection between her and Snarl, I believe, although the details are unclear. I thought it might be worth mentioning, for when Sierra first saw Snarl crossing through the lair she looked pain-stricken, and was swift to make her exit. I saw that she hid in her den, but not before Snarl got a good look at her. If there is some ungodly combination of terror and rage, it was there on his face.
[/columns] [columns] But he was under Nighttide's care, and Ascendence was right beside him - there was no rash action, but it was alarming, to say the least. The Clan has not had trouble yet, and I do hope that these dragons won't be the start of it. I'll write more later. ------ Year of the Growth, 2nd of the Icewarden's Dominance A Nature Pearlcatcher named Khseraf has joined our ranks today. She comes from a distant Clan across the Viridian Labyrinth, as a show of good will and to welcome our Clan to the area. Although she is soft-spoken, she is stern and has a great sense of justice, and she seems very eager to help out. A nice fit for our Clan! As she has great talent with herbs and healing medices, she has been appointed the newest member of the Council Minora as the Clan's medic. Up until now, our co-founder Dusk has been helping Sonata with her leadership roles, as well as playing the part of healer - as he does have knowledge of medicine. However, in light of Khseraf's arrival, Dusk has been more than willing to give up this role. He has also stepped down from the Council Majora, much preferring a seer-like role on the Council Minora. Khseraf is now the lead medic, while Ashlesha has replaced Dusk as the Clan's second. Everyone seems happier in their new roles. I would like to write out a new list of the current council, but I feel as if that is bound to change again soon as things - and dragons - settle. We'll hopefully have a finalized list soon! ------ Year of the Growth, 5th of the Shadowbinder's Dominance As the season progresses, the Clan has settled into their duties. We have had several dragons join our Clan since my last entry. Additionally, Tucker - son of Atheria and Cascade - has decided to live among us rather than leaving like many other hatchlings born into the Clan. He has become our merchant - he's quite successful at filling our vault! Orion has also been a great help around the lair, especially to me. He is a scholar, after my own heart, and together we've built a wonderful library. He has many books in his own private collection, but he is always happy to let me borrow a few, and I in turn allow him access to my records and archives (I have more than just this logbook, I'll have you know). Last but certainly not least is Misthaven, a clever botanist who has taken it upon herself to organize and tend to the gardens. Aurora is a wonderful organizer, deities bless her, but despite being a Nature dragon, she has nothing close to a green thumb. As such, the gardens have run amok, and no dragon has really been able to control them, despite Aurora putting the greenest dragons on garden duty. But Misthaven! She flew right up and knew exactly what to do. Thus, it comes as no surprise to any dragon that she is also the newest member of the Council Minora. ------ Year of the Growth, 5th of the Flamecaller's Dominance Deities rejoice, the Clan's coliseum team has reached their full potential! It is extraordinary, the last few days flew by, until the trio was suddenly strong enough to battle in the most difficult venues. The Kelp Beds have become a hot spot for our trainers, while the ancient runes of the Arena have offered treasure troves to our scouts and farmers. This happened just in time! We have our Flight's festival approaching next season, the highlight of this year: The Greenskeeper Gathering! It is only the Clan's second festival, but we are infinitely more prepared than we were for the Water festival - especially now with a fully equipped coliseum team! As a preemptive celebration, a small Plague Nocturne has joined the Clan. Calhoun is reserved, but he is sweet, and has a strong bond with Marcus. Additionally, we have an interesting case in our other newest member. A Water Fae named Echo was passing through the Clan, on his way to meet the Gladekeeper at the Behemoth in the heart of Nature territory. However, before we could even finish the exalting ceremony we held in his honour, he had returned, out of breath but with a spark in his eyes. He told us in what was perhaps the most excited tone I've ever heard from a Fae. The lucky dragon met the Gladekeeper herself! And our Lady ordered him to work for Her in our very Clan, as the Clan's exalter. Naturally, this is an important role, and after verifying his claim, he was invited to join the Council Minora. He has since joined the coliseum team's ranks. Things could not be better for our Clan. ------ Year of the Growth, 1st of the Gladekeeper's Dominance Happy Greenskeeper Gathering! The Clan is celebrating and stronger for it. There are many activities to partake in, and the Nature Clans all around the Labyrinth are wild with song, dance, music and good cheer. Visitors to the Labyrinth are encouraged to participate in games and activities alongside natives, centered in a glade by the Behemoth; identifying plants and animals native to all over Sorneith, gardening for our Lady Gladekeeper, expressing the excitement of the festival through creative arts. Echo even joined an exploration group to the deepest parts of the Labyrinth. It is a good time to be a Nature dragon. Year of the Growth, 1st of the Icewarden's Dominance

Yesterday, two dragons joined the Clan.

But he was under Nighttide's care, and Ascendence was right beside him - there was no rash action, but it was alarming, to say the least. The Clan has not had trouble yet, and I do hope that these dragons won't be the start of it.

I'll write more later.

Year of the Growth, 2nd of the Icewarden's Dominance

A Nature Pearlcatcher named Khseraf has joined our ranks today. She comes from a distant Clan across the Viridian Labyrinth, as a show of good will and to welcome our Clan to the area. Although she is soft-spoken, she is stern and has a great sense of justice, and she seems very eager to help out. A nice fit for our Clan! Year of the Growth, 5th of the Shadowbinder's Dominance

As the season progresses, the Clan has settled into their duties. We have had several dragons join our Clan since my last entry. Additionally, Tucker - son of Atheria and Cascade - has decided to live among us rather than leaving like many other hatchlings born into the Clan. He has become our merchant - he's quite successful at filling our vault!

Year of the Growth, 5th of the Flamecaller's Dominance

Deities rejoice, the Clan's coliseum team has reached their full potential! It is extraordinary, the last few days flew by, until the trio was suddenly strong enough to battle in the most difficult venues. The Kelp Beds have become a hot spot for our trainers, while the ancient runes of the Arena have offered treasure troves to our scouts and farmers.

Things could not be better for our Clan.

Year of the Growth, 1st of the Gladekeeper's Dominance

Happy Greenskeeper Gathering!

An grand Imperial named Melody officially joined the Clan yesterday - Sonata herself vouched for her before the Clarus Councils! It turns out that Melody, a singer, has been friends with Sonata for a long, long time. Melody grew up in a distant Clan on the shores of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but she visited often. She said to me, "It's time I finally join this Clan, so I don't have to trek so far every time I want a word with my closest friend!" Makes perfect sense to me, I must say. Today, we also had another member of the allied Dawn Clan join our ranks. Sagittarius is a talented archer, taking after a long-fallen constellation. He will be tasked with protecting the outer limits of the Clan's territory, as well as joining Oshkana as a scout. I have noticed that he is also becoming close with Orion, the scholar. The two are often seen together, and Sagittarius - although he does not strike me as much of a reader - will often listen to Orion read aloud. It's quite sweet, if you ask me. Since my last update, we have had a new tree dragon join the Clan as well. Their name is Zana, although I haven't heard them say a single word. They seem to be of a benevolent sort, and Calhoun has certainly become smitten. The two often fly together through the woods on their own, and they have the Gladekeeper's blessing to protect the Labyrinth as they see fit. The deities themselves are rejoicing, and a time of peace has come across us. Even the BeastClans have called their battles off for the day, from the news we hear from neighbouring Clans. It can be said that even the most hostile Clans (both Draconian and Beastly) and the most introverted of the deities have been spotted today, a pleasure to be around. Today is the anniversary of the beginning of Sorneith's Common Era, after the Pillar's Fall. Although the records from before then are blurry, the birth of dragonkind all over Sorneith as the deities rose again ensured history was more or less well-kept. It feels nice to carry on this legacy, to be a part of something bigger, by keeping note of the Clarus Clan's records. Although we are only a small Clan lost in the rainforest, I'm sure these logbooks will be a treasure trove for those who come across them in the future... Apologies. I seem to have lost track of myself. In other news of today's celebration, a new friend has settled down at the trading post, across from Swipp's stand and beside Pinkerton's pile. His name is Baldwin, and he is an old alchemist. As a way of introducing himself, he has invited the Clans of Sorneith access to his alchemy books and his cauldron. Although we don't have a full-time alchemist in our Clan, Sonata thought it would be a good idea to become acquainted with the Pearlcatcher. I was happy to read over his books and see his different recipes, however I will be the first to admit that the art of alchemy itself is not my strong suit. For now, Foxglove has taken interest in the task. To do my part, I have gone out and collected some additional texts on alchemy, for any Clanmate who wishes to read up on the matter. In addition, a new critter has been spotted near the outskirts of camp! It looks like a small dragon, however it is not a new breed. With bright orange and yellow scales and piercing blue eyes, it has been dubbed a Loga. The Clan has already taken in one as a new familiar, and Baldwin is able for a short while to help us produce more, as well. They have been approved by the Council, although I didn't catch who vouched for them. The first is Etna, an older Coatl. She brings her skills as a seamstress to our Clan, and her talent for catching small details is an asset. Already, she has been meeting with Tucker in order to determine the best choices of apparel, which to sell and which to keep for the Clan's uses. She has mentioned a mate, who still resides with his old Clan. She isn't sure if he will fit into the Clan, from what I've understood, but Sonata has assured Etna that he will be able to join if he so wishes. The second dragon to join today is Ezra, a mage from the Starfall Isles. He is a skilled wizard, and comes as a symbol of peace and friendship from the Arcane Flight. Funnily enough, they have already become fast friends - I am surprised they did not know each other beforehand! The first is the Pearlcatcher Hecate, who comes from the Sunbeam Ruins as a representative of her Flight. It is most fortuitous that she arrives during the Jubilee. As a Light dragon born in the Year of Luster, she is influenced by her elemental magic and is strongly suited for the role. The second dragon to join is a Nocturne from the Sea of a Thousand Currents, although he also has Light magic flowing through him on his mother's side. As such, he has happily followed in his mother's footsteps as the Clan librarian. I have been eager to help him establish his collection, and we have worked together to ensure that my archives are available and accessible to members of his library. At the moment his is a private library, but there is talk of opening it to the public soon enough. In addition to this great news, we have also found ourselves a new familiar! A Nature Sprite has settled among us; they were spotted near the northern streams earlier this morning, and have since moved into the heart of the Willow. It is an honour to see a handmaiden of the Gladekeeper choose our humble Clan as their new home! Specifically, it appears as if the Sprite has chosen Atheria to be their keeper. The Clan could not be happier with this turn of events! ------ Year of the Luster, 9th of the Lightweaver's Dominance Our Clan is growing swiftly. There have been two new additions to our Clan, Shadow dragons who have settled in the Nature domain. The first is Descant, the first Ridgeback to join our Clan. She seems to have a special bond with Sonata, however she is a mystery to the rest of the Clan. She keeps her distant and appears to be mostly nocturnal. She is already a member of the Guild of the Stars, it seems. The second dragon is a curious little thing. Her name is Alice, and she has joined the Clan with her Charge. It is strange, most Guardians join our Clan in search of their Charge, and they often find it nearby, so they settle with us. But Alice already has her's - she let me see it once, although I was forbidden from holding it. It is a small china tea set with intricate roses painted all over. The year is drawing to a close, but I would say it's been a successful one. I look forward to write of more good tidings in the next year! My curiousity has been flared, but I will not trespass on her privacy.
[/columns] [columns] The second dragon was caught trespassing several hours later. She was confronted by Marcus and brought before the whole Clan gathered beneath the Willow. This dragon's name is Tana, and after consulting with Sonata and the two Councils, she was invited to stay with the Clan for a time. Already, it seems as if Tana and Marcus have developed a sort of relationship, although it's hard to say for sure from where I stand. One thing that is apparent is that Ascendence, who has grown into a lovely young dragoness within the Clan, was instantly on alert as soon as Tana entered the Clan. The beekeeper nearly attacked the new Coatl on sight, although nobody knows why. It may be that they have a shared history from before they joined the Clan - but Ascendence was calmed by her mate, Snarl, and Tana smugly settled in the center of the lair. It was awkward for us on the sidelines, I have to say. There is no way to politely ask for any details, so I suppose this will have to remain a mystery for now. ------ Year of Sparks, 12th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance This has been a long season. The Plaguebringer has held Her own for twice as long as usual. There have been riots along the border of neighbouring Flights' territories in an attempt to contain and control the spread of disease. Fortunately, we have been relatively unaffected here in the Gladeveins. In other news, today we have had an Arcanite royal join the Clan. Princess Astra has arrived from a distant Kingdom in order to strengthen alliances with the Arcane Flight. She has settled in well, and she speaks highly of her guard, who will be arriving in the next few days after settling matters in their home territory. We look forward to welcoming Princess Astra and her handmaiden, Tzarel! Additionally, Etna's mate has finally been accepted into the Clan. There was a bit of trouble having the Councils approve of him, as he himself will tell you he is quite lazy. Etna tried to hide this fact, which led to unfortunate debates between the High and Low Councils: Does a dragon like Vesuvius deserve to become a Clarus member? Finally, after much back and forth, Etna promised to keep him in line. He will become her assistant and work for her in order to pay for his rent. Often it is not so difficult for dragons to join the Clan, but in this case, the Councils wanted to be extremely sure that he would not become a burden on the rest of the Clan. We cannot afford any dead weight. Surely it is only fair! In any case, he seems to have settled in well. Even if he isn't a good assistant, he and Etna will provide strong clutches for the Clan so there is some promise. ------ Year of Sparks, 2nd of the Earthshaker's Dominance Princess Astra's Guardian and hand-maiden, Tzarel, has joined the Clan today! I suggested she keep a dream journal and write in it as soon as she wakes up, when her dreams are still fresh. I even provided her with some of the spare tools Aurora gave me when I first started documenting the archives - Tzarel was happy for this. I look forward to working alongside her, and am happy she and Astra have settled in the Clan so well! ------ Year of Sparks, 2nd of the Stormcatcher's Dominance The Lightning Flight is celebrating this season, for it's the Thundercrack Carnivale! The World Faire is already teeming with a variety of events and our dragons are greatly enjoying themselves. The Lightning Flight is quite a different experience from Nature, but it is still a time of peace for us all, and a great time to learn from our allies over in the Shifting Expanse. During the festivities, two dragons have also appeared - an old Coatl pair with fire in their eyes and lightning striking in their hearts. Arista and Arvale have joined the Clan claiming to be two farmers, and have proven their cultivation skills, yet I believe they are more than who they claim to be. They match old descriptions of a fiery pair of Coatls from long ago, called the Fallen Terror. It is said that the two Coatls used to travel the lands and terrorize any who crossed their paths, performing all sorts of crimes to survive. They were Clanless and alone, except for each other. Now, I can't say for sure that Arista and Arvale are these same two Coatls... But they are fierce and do not take kindly to Clanmates intruding on their peace; they stick by each others' sides as if that is what they are used to. I suppose they have settled in their old age, but it is still a wonder that two old legends may have chosen the Clarus Clan in which to settle! ------ Year of Sparks, 7th of the Stormcatcher's Dominance Our Clan relations with Plague have improved, and today we find ourselves with a dear ally! There is a City in the Rotrick Rim led by a dragon named Gradient; his mate Filigree runs the City's Outskirts. The alliance between the City and our Clan is strongly unified with our Council meeting their leaders, and an exchange of hatchlings. We now have a Plagueling named Ivan, who is a necromancer-in-training. He is not the friendliest of dragons, but I suppose that is merely a part of his line of work. Regardless, this alliance looks to be a strong one!
Chapter 4

Clarus%20Clan%20flag_zps1ctsabtw.png

Year of Sparks, 3rd of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

We have a new hoardkeeper, which is a role we have needed to fill for a while now. Her name is Dixie, and she comes from the Plaguelands. She is a strong, dependent Guardian who always has time to brighten someone's day with a smile. She gets along well with the rest of the Clan, although more often than not she is quietly lingering on the sidelines. I have already let her know that she has full access to the Clan records if need be, and in turn she has allowed me to store a few boxes of untouched books that have compiled between Helios and me in the vault until we are able to expand our bookshelves.

Year of Sparks, 9th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

Today two dragons have appeared in our territory, pleading for asylum. They appear to be completely unrelated, with several hours in between their arrival. The first was actually found on the edge of our territory by our scout 'Kana; she was a terrified thing, and would not allow any dragon to draw near. Only when Sonata approached and soothingly spoke with her, was the dragoness calmed.

Her name was Dosa, and she has a special gift for sensing the future - that is about all I was able to gleam from her. When Sonata brought her to the Clan for solace, Dosa refused to look any dragon in the eye and after she was introduced, she quickly fled to the underground chambers where she was offered a space to make her den. Year of Sparks, 12th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

This has been a long season. The Plaguebringer has held Her own for twice as long as usual. There have been riots along the border of neighbouring Flights' territories in an attempt to contain and control the spread of disease. Fortunately, we have been relatively unaffected here in the Gladeveins.

Year of Sparks, 2nd of the Stormcatcher's Dominance

The Lightning Flight is celebrating this season, for it's the Thundercrack Carnivale!

Year of Sparks, 7th of the Stormcatcher's Dominance

Our Clan relations with Plague have improved, and today we find ourselves with a dear ally!

Year of Embers, 6th of the Arcanist's Dominance

Today, something remarkable has occurred! For the first time in Clan history, under Nighttide's careful eye and a skillful rendition of the nesting ritual, the Gladekeeper has granted our Clan a 5-egg clutch! Nighttide has kept the news of the nest quiet as they incubated, to avoid jinxing anything, but the eggs hatched today. Year of Embers, 1st of the Gladekeeper's Dominance

After quite a struggle against the Lightweaver and her Flight, Nature has dominated the season! It is not often that Nature fights for dominance, but we worked hard and pulled through. It was an honour battling against the Clans of the Sunbeam Ruins. Year of Embers, 2nd of the Gladekeeper's Dominance

Today is yet another day to celebrate.
Our founders, Sonata and Dusk, have been fully gened! With the Clan savings from the vault and the good fortune of our Flight's dominance, we were able to afford the final magical scrolls necessary for our leaders to merge into their final forms. We are all very pleased for these two!

Chapter 6

Year of Magic, 1st of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

Our gatherers have brought us luck today! Oshkana found a Wind Egg while on patrol, and has brought it back to camp. It is such a beautiful thing, to see all a dragon's potential in such a fragile object. It has been placed in our vault under Dixie's care for now.

Year of Magic, 2nd of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

There is some good news and bad news today.

It has come to my attention that there is a specific species of dragons in the Viridian Labyrinth who are pursued by something dark and evil - perhaps the Shade? It is unclear - in order to eliminate them as a whole. Dragons who associate with any member of this species are often targeted as well; anyone providing shelter and safety to members of the species find themselves in danger as well. There is an undercurrent of knowledge among dragons of the Labyrinth regarding this matter, hidden from the general public. I cannot reveal too many details, for fear of endangering the dragons of this species and their acquaintances, but I will say this: The princess is making her way through the Labyrinth in an effort to avoid the evil stalking her, and her subjects are forced to do the same.

Today, our kind-hearted Sierra found a hatchling abandoned in the forest, half starved and exhausted. She brought him back to the Clan in order to care for him, as it seemed his parents were no longer able to care for him.
It turns out that this hatchling is a member of this particular species; I was only able to confirm this through some intense research through dusty rumours and old records, as his colours were hidden from the eye. It is certain that his parents were on the run from whatever it is that is hunting the species.

The good news is that he is now safe and warm, and will have a home in our Clan. We have dubbed him Emelin, and we will protect him with our life.

Year of Magic, 1st of the Arcanist's Dominance

The Starfall Celebration is underway! The Arcane Flight is undertaking a huge project this year in an attempt to send the Arcanist to space. Year of Magic, 3rd of the Arcanist's Dominance

Well, I don't usually write about my personal life in these notes! But I just can't hold it back. Just this morning, Sunship and I received a note from one of our hatchlings, Moxy, who has grown up into quite a lovely dragon. It is the last day of the Starfall Celebration. Everything has gone remarkably well - and today, our team of gatherers have found yet another egg! The Water egg has been safely deposited in our vault until further notice.

It is a time of celebration for the Clan! Our founders, Sonata and Dusk, hatched a new nest together. He brings news from our allies - they are doing well - but he has also requested to reside with us from now on. Of course, that's not a problem for any kin of a Clarus dragon! Rowan has brought only a few belongings with him, including several thick books on runes and other languages; he has settled in his den and new workplace, which is located at the very top of the Willow's inner rooms. He is a skilled magician and already has acquainted himself with the other Arcanites and mages in the Clan.
[/columns] [columns] It wasn't long before he had an idea on how to better organize them all. After consulting Sonata and the Councils with his request earlier today, he quickly got to work to form our newest Guild. A few dragons have already moved from the Guild of Roses, where they were before, into this new Guild, where they are better matched. ------ Year of Rot, 4th of the Tidelord's Dominance A tiny Nocturne visited our Clan today, and was staying in Molson's inn. She carried with her a large sack filled to the brim with seaglass, quite an impressive collection for such a small dragon. She is very quiet, and goes by the name of Erina, but seems friendly enough. She is the first guest to stay in the Willow and the Stream, which was fully completed just last season! I haven't had the chance to visit the combined inn-and-pub yet, but Erina seems to be really enjoying herself, from what I gather. Molson is certainly happy to have some company to attend to! ------ Year of Rot, 2nd of the Lightweaver's Dominance Well, it is now a different season, and Erina is still staying at the Willow and the Stream. Either the inn is really comfortable, or perhaps our young Nocturne has found another reason to stay so long! From what I've heard, Molson plans to vouch for her before the Councils in order for her to become a full member of the Clan. The two have really hit it off, and Erina is almost always seen with her new friend, and with one or two pieces of seaglass in her claws, too. Once she becomes a full member, I will definitely have to ask about her seaglass! What a curiousity. ------ Year of Rot, 1st of the Plaguebringer's Dominance The Plague festival has started! It has been so exciting thus far. Plaguebringer's children have uncovered a particularly malevolent disease, the Shade Plague. In an effort to combat it, the Riot of Rot activities have been raising funds to research and fight the deadly plague! Ivan was quickly called to make a split decision between two sisters at neighbouring booths by the side of the road. Alice, meanwhile, has taken up a station at the Diseased Dollmaker station. She's having quite a blast! Although I must say, Snarl, Ivan and most of the other dragons chosen by her for the activity aren't so happy to be subjected to such torture! Sierra, though, really enjoyed modeling for Alice, so that's some good news. A Wasteland Disciple has followed Vira home from her visit to her birthplace in the allied City, and the new familiar has settled in happily by her side. ------ Year of Rot, 4th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance As luck would have it, our coliseum adventurers have brought back an unhatched Plague egg today! The Plaguebringer must be happy with our participation in her honour, as well as our efforts in battling the shade plague. The egg has been stowed in the vault under Dixie's careful watch for the moment, although we might sell it further down the road for some quick cash. We'll see how things go! I haven't had the chance to visit the combined inn-and-pub yet, but Erina seems to be really enjoying herself, from what I gather. Molson is certainly happy to have some company to attend to!

Year of Rot, 2nd of the Lightweaver's Dominance

Well, it is now a different season, and Erina is still staying at the Willow and the Stream.

Year of Rot, 1st of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

The Plague festival has started!

Year of Rot, 4th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

As luck would have it, our coliseum adventurers have brought back an unhatched Plague egg today! The Plaguebringer must be happy with our participation in her honour, as well as our efforts in battling the shade plague. The egg has been stowed in the vault under Dixie's careful watch for the moment, although we might sell it further down the road for some quick cash. We'll see how things go!

Year of Stone, 1st of the Gladekeeper's Dominance

What a way to begin the new year! We have gained Dominance; we strove for it near the end of the Year of Rot, although the way in the seasons played out we only won in time for the Year of Stone. Oh well, a win is a win, so we can't complain. After a great season's work it is time for us to relax and rejoice.

Year of Rest, 6th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

The Year of Rest begins today, a time to reflect over the past cycle of twelve years and prepare for the upcoming cycle! It is my first one, not just with the Clarus Clan - but in my whole life! Really makes you realize how time flies, I suppose.

This morning a large, purple, over-eager Guardian has come to our Clan. Her name is Sonnai; she comes from a Lightning Clan far away, and is a skilled glass-blower. There is a place for a dragon like her, for sure, although she is remaining in Molson' inn until someone will vouch for her.

Speaking of vouching, Majestas was accepted in the Clan today as well! We held a small welcome ceremony for her, complete with feast. It's nothing special - everyone new dragon gets the same, to be fair - but the young Spiral was just so pleased with such honest-to-goodness cheer from her new Clanmates. It really warms the heart, I think.

Year of Rest, 2nd of the Lightweaver's Dominance

Descant has taken a likening to Sonnai, it seems, for the Ridgeback has vouched for the Guardian to join the Clan. The Council approved, and Sonata seemed especially keen - I think she likes to see Descant have a friend in the Clan. Although it is not hard to pick up on some despair coming from the Guardian herself. I don't like to pry, especially into the life of a dragon who seems so private, but it is clear to me that Sonnai is mopey after another dragon, a Guardian, in the Clan (I won't say whom). I hope the two can sort out everything between themselves!

In other news, the Clan is bustling with the preparations for the upcoming festival. Next season brings with it the Night of the Nocturnes, an exciting holiday I've heard so much about! I've gone ahead and made an easy-to-use little logbookto keep track of our progress. You can say I'm a little eager for the holidays to start, hah!

Year of Rest, 1st of the Icewarden's Dominance

Well! Night of the Nocturne has officially begun! Along with my (rather tidy, if I do say so myself) notes in that logbook, which I've placed in my bookshelf. I also plan to keep track in this small record-book. It'll be easier, this way, to then input the daily tallies into my logbook, and then analyze all the data.

For future reference, you'll need to check there for daily updates, rather than in these archival notes!

Year of Rest, 2nd of the Icewarden's Dominance

Today a lovely young Nocturne has joined our Clan, perhaps seeking adventure in the time of his species. Although he has been staying at Molson's for a few days, he finally came before the Councils today. His name is Caspian and he is Captain of a small vessel, although Sonata has high hopes for him to one day develop a navy for the Clan! That would be exciting! Majestas was the one to vouch for him.

Year of Rest, 3rd of the Icewarden's Dominance

The Gladeveins are alive today, stronger - more vivid - than usual. It woke nearly the entire Clan this morning, its trickling waters like a joyful laughter, an enchanting song. It was only later that we realized why the streams have begun to sing. A river spirit named Minato has found its (although it presents itself in the form of a male Imperial, so perhaps his) way from the Dawn Clan further upstream, and has decided to settle here by the Willow for a time. We welcome him, and we only hope our lair can be as much a home to this spirit as it is to the rest of us.

Year of Rest, 1st of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

Sonnai and Castor have hatched their first nest together this morning! It was a joyful day, but tragedy was not far behind. One of the young dragons in the nest, unnamed even to this moment of writing, passed away very suddenly in his nest. The lair was devastated; we try our best to provide all we can for dragons of all ages, and to have one so young taken from us...

I don't know who went ahead and had such an idea, but Ivan - the Clan's necromancer - was called to the scene soon after the death. His attempt to revive the hatchling did not go as planned. Now the ghost of the hatchling is tied to an incorporeal body, unable to pass on peacefully.

I - I don't know what to think.

I've never seen anything like it - this sort of magic is not used often in our Clan, although I've heard rumours of it further in the Shrieking Wilds, in the heart of the Labyrinth.

The parents are too shocked to look at their dead son, and too heartbroken to care for their living daughter. Nighttide has taken it upon herself to raise the daughter on her own.

As for the ghost - named Moroi, an old, ancient term for the undead - well, we can only wait and see.

Year of Rest, 2nd of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

A Water Pearlcatcher has joined our ranks today! Her name is Marissa, and she has great power over her element. She is to be the newest member on the Pearl Council. It is nice to see the third council progressing so well.

Year of Rest, 9th of the Plaguebringer's Dominance

Today, an unhatched Arcane egg was unearthed by our scavenger patrols! What a lucky find! We have stored it in our vault for the time-being.

And as I'm sure you're aware, today is the final day for the Night of the Nocturne festivities. We have surely been blessed by the eleven for the festival's bounty! Our record by the end of the festival is as follows:
 • 67 chests
from those chests:
 • 4 eggs
 • 11 apparel
 • 52 familiars

 • 15 Baldwin brews
from those brews:
 • 11 apparel
 • 4 familiars

and finally,
 • 1 bundle of each apparel set

Phew! What a tiring, but rewarding, event.
