Introduction: The 3 Siblings and a Mysterious Imperial.
Rasasvada, Fanfaronade, and Xenization. Those were names the dragons of the Spellbound clan knew all too well. At night, they liked to sneak out deep into the forest and battle the monsters that lived there, putting their own lives at risk for the thrill. .
Ok, maybe it was just Faro that dragged them along.
"This is extreamley dangerous, and you know it," huffed Rasa, marching alongside Xen as they followed their overly excited sister deeper into the woods. The moon was the only source of light, shining down through the trees, casting long, dark shadows around the group.
There was something unsettling about this place at night. An ominous feeling hung over the area, as did a sense of unease and danger. Xen felt a shiver of fear run down her spine.
"Our brother is right," she commented, voice as hushed as the night around them. She peeked out from her hood and scarf to observe her surroundings, but hadn't a chance to process what was happening before a glowing red rodent scurried out across the ground and sunk it's teeth into her leg.
She let out a wail, trying to shake the Ember Mouse off, as two Crimson Emperors flew at Rasa, kicking and stomping and nearly trampling him. Try as they might to fight them off, their weak magic wasn't doing enough damage to defend them.
Alerted by their screams, Faro rushed back to her siblings and frantically clawed at the monsters, finally managing to scare them off as they disappeared once more into the darkness.
"
Exactly what I was saying," shouted Rasa, as he lay on the ground trying to catch his breath. "We could get seriously injured out here. Imagine if a whole pack of monsters came and ganged up on us. We could be
killed."
"No, we wouldn't," Faro sighed dismissively. She rolled her eyes and helped her brother and sister back onto their feet.
"I would be here to save you! You guys are weenies. The only problem here is that
I am tough, and
you're not! That's why we're out here! I'm going to train you to be strong."
She got no response from either of them. In fact, it looked as if they were looking past her.
"What, do I get the silent treatment? Look, I'm sorry, okay? There. I said it. If you guys really want to chicken out now, let's head back home. Nothing else is going to jump out at us."
"U-Uhm. . I. . am not sure about that," Xen replied in a terrified whisper, even lower than her normal speaking voice. Both her and Rasa's bright, pink eyes were wide with fear, their whole bodies trembling as they slowly backed away. The Spiral chuckled in reply.
"Come on. I know you're trying to scare me, but that's not going to work, guys. I'm not falling for something like that. See? No monster."
As she turned around, she came snout-to-snout with a Death's-Head Stag. Behind it was an army of Sparrowmice and Webwings - none of which looked happy about them being in their territory. Faro turned a sickly pale.
"Run."
The three sprinted and flew in the other direction as quickly as they could, the angry mob of monsters right among their tails. Just when they thought that they had finally lost them, Faro, who did not know how to properly fly yet, tripped on a rock.
As she stumbled back to her feet, the gathering of monsters had already cornered her, and were ready to attack at any moment. Believing that these would be her last moments, she closed her eyes tightly, and braced herself for attack.
. . But nothing came. When she opened her eyes, she saw all of the creatures around her fleeing, running away as fast as they could. Once the crowd had cleared, she could make out the shape of another dragon in the foggy distance.
"Please don't kill me, dude! I learned my lesson, please, I have a wife and kids! . . Okay, no I don't!
But please spare me!"
The stranger got closer, and she could see then that it was an Imperial dragon - he was covered in purplish-pink glimmering scales, and had large, bright pink wings. She almost thought she heard chuckling as he approached her. . oh no, was he crazy? Was he going to eat her alive!?
"I'm not going to kill you," he assured her with a smile. "I have no intent on harming you. I just saw that you needed help. Those creatures really are quite easy to scare, huh? I walk through and they're suddenly rushing all over the place. Huh. But anyways. . are you alright?"
Faro let out a long sigh of relief and nodded. By then, Rasa and Xen and flown back down by her side and were helping her back to here feet.
"Who are you? Where are you from? What are you doing here?" Rasa asked defensively.
"To be honest, I'm not quite sure myself," he laughed. "It seems I've lost nearly all my memories. Though, I do seem to remember being called 'Saudade'. . and that is fine by me. It's rather late, you should head back to your clan. And, if it's not too much to ask. . would you mind if I tagged along? I need somewhere to stay the night."
Faro smiled and bowed her head at the stranger who had come to her rescue.
"You saved my life. That's the least we could do."
To be continued.
