Our first founder SilverSong, felt the summons of the Lightweaver herself, and woke from a mysterious slumber; though the guardian had no knowledge of of the sleep she had been in or of anything about herself other than her name. Stranger still was that she possessed knowledge of the world, such as the deity's, the land and the species within. It wasn’t long before the dragoness encountered another dragon, a male, crimson colored and falling from the sky; responding quickly, SilverSong took flight in order to save the unconscious male. CrimsonFang was the name of the dragon that she saved; he had been travelling for as long as he could remember, always searching for his charge, with no luck at all. He stayed with the dragoness for several days, before he prepared himself to leave; it was then that SilverSong reappeared, carrying a fragile, glowing egg. This was CrimsonFang’s charge, and within moments of his claws touching the shell, it hatched, revealing a baby storm colored guardian. With this arrival, CrimsonFang decided to remain with SilverSong, which was a pleasant surprise for the female. Scraping out a rudimentary lair, both guardians took turns looking after the hatchling; before SilverSong felt the pull of her charge. Leaving CrimsonFang and StormDancer for a few days, she headed towards the Mire, just before she reached the dangerous place she found her charge, a wounded Psywurm. Gently lifting the wounded creature she began to take off, just as a pack of kamatchis appeared; their intent to kill the she-dragon that had encroached on their territory. SilverSong was saved by another Guardian; a wind born male called AquaWing, who created enough of a distraction for the dragoness to escape. Returning to CrimsonFang with her new ally; she found that Crimson had been joined by several other dragons, some of them, like StormDancer had been found as eggs and had travelled looking for another home. Others; hailed from other flights and clans, looking for someplace to call their own. All were welcomed by SilverSong, and she couldn’t find it in her heart to mistrust any of them despite AquaWing’s warnings. At first, everything within the lair was perfect, all pulled their own weight; and as time passed, CrimsonFang (now that StormDancer was grown), AquaWing and SilverSong began foraging trips into the Coliseum, dangerous venues where shade-touched creatures and beastlclans roamed. What the three guardians were not aware of was that some of their clanmates had hidden agenda’s, and desires. With the three ‘leaders’ gone, sometimes for days at a time they began to act on their impulses. At first, the acts where small, commonplace amongst lairs where numerous dragons gathered, a push here, an accidental trip there; but with each act that they got away with another, more darker and cruel transgression occurred. They weren’t stupid though, they made sure to stop when the three guardians returned, and not once did they bother StormDancer. Day after day, they bullied the others, making them feel insignificant, worthless; that if they said anything SilverSong and the others wouldn’t listen; so they suffered in silence as the acts continued; their confidence dulling their once bright hide. SilverSong, CrimsonFang, AquaWing and even StormDancer could feel that something was wrong, but none of them could identify what was happening, and as the former three were needed to keep the roaming beastclans from the clan, they were at the lair less and less. ThistleWhisper and CinderClaw soon joined the clan, having been found by StormDancer as she was collecting things, the older guardian explaining their past. Though ThistleWhisper was a child of the Shadowbinder, StormDancer couldn’t say no to them; after all, the nocturne was her charge, and she was shy, gentle and very docile; hiding against CinderClaw’s hide. The ‘group’ watched the newcomers with eagerness; the others in the clan had grown far too submissive, providing no pleasure for the three, no matter what they did they simply gave in; and despite liking the power it gave them, they wanted more. They’d work on the Nocturne first, she was shadow, and docile. Cornering her, they began to bully the newcomer as soon as she was alone; what they did not count on was the dragoness's immediate response to dragons who she felt were 'bad', and as CinderClaw was not around she cried out in fear. The three reacted, silencing her as the group brutalised the young nocturne. A roar of pure rage startled the three, and they turned to see StormDancer; she’d caught them, harming that which was hers to protect, and now she realized what was wrong with the clan. She charged them knowing that they were all older and more experienced than she was, however their shock at been caught gave ThistleWhisper the time she needed to escape. The group attacked, inflicting serious injuries on her arms and tail; thankfully it wasn't long before CinderClaw joined the battle, evening it out somewhat. Together the guardians managed to push the group into the open; at which point they turned on the other clan members, killing those all those that they could, and inflicting as much damage as possible on the others. SilverSong and the males had been returning when ThistleWhisper appeared, scared and hurt she told SilverSong everything, clutching at the large guardian as she cried. With a single glance at the others they flew back to the lair as quick as they could. Spying the massacre, they dove in, immediately killing two of the group, the third they surrounded, and tried to question; but by lunging at the already terrified nocturne, SilverSong retaliated, silencing the other forever. The damage was done, many left, feeling that the clan could not protect them, calling SilverSong weak, leaving only the dragoness in question, CrimsonFang, AquaWing and StormDancer, as well as CinderClaw and ThistleWhisper as the nocturne didn’t want to leave StormDancer as she was injured. Slowly the small group grew closer, more wary now of those that sought refuge; and now determined to know the truth of any and all that entered. Those that accepted the clans harsh laws on truth, and yielded to it, were given sanctuary, but were watched closely for several days. SilverSong knew that she was no leader, but with none of the others showing any signs she resigned herself to doing the best she could, though the failure of before still overshadowed her thoughts. It was ThistleWhisper who found the answer to SilverSong’s dilemma, on one of her rare excursions outside the lair, she came across a group of three dragon, a shadow mirror, with deadly looking markings, and light pearlcatcher, with a bold stripe over spots, and a lightning skydancer, whose serene presence calmed her, even as the mirror pounced on the nocturne, easily pinning her, and threatening to eat her. Before the fear could sink in, the skydancer told the mirror off, saying that the joke was not in good taste, before coaxing the thistle colored nocturne to tell her tale. Hearing the clans predicament, Edge grinned, making him look more dangerous, before he ordered the ThistleWhisper to lead the way home. Scared, yet hopeful, she did; the mirror not feeling bad to her. SilverSong spotted the group, but it was CrimsonFang and AquaWing who warned them off; which Edge blatantly ignored. Prowling into the lair as if nothing mattered he informed them that he would be their leader. Both male guardians blinked, before lunging at the arrogant mirror, who easily dodged them, tiring them out as he avoided all their attacks. Finally they yielded, and he prowled up to SilverSong. Whatever he said to the guardian, allayed her fears, and with a glance at the rest she nodded, but not before warning him. “If you turn on us, it will be my claw that will cleave your shadow from this land.” With Naahmi to help him, Edge now leads the SolarBlade Haven, a name he came up with in reference to SilverSongs warning that was given to him the day he became its leader. Since then, the mirror has begun implementing various 'roles' within the clan; in order to give it a structure, and to help prevent further tragedies from occurring. It was SilverSong that brought up the idea of the wardrakes; the term not one any of the other dragons had heard of. When she explained her idea to Edge and Naahmi, as well as AquaWing and CrimsonFang; all four of them agreed to it. It took the three guardians several weeks to finally complete the WarDrake Trail, and several days before each guardian could complete it fully under the watchful gaze of their comrades. When they returned with the news, Foraithe was the one who gave it its official name, "Trial of Illumination".

The commander takes on advice from the Cardinal, and other high ranking dragons to help keep the lair in prime condition. Some choose to expand their knowledge, by learning healing magic; this is used primarily when they are in combat, as it is swifter, and can help prevent fatalities; giving dragons more time to be tended to properly. Though they may dislike fighting, they are taught combat magic so that they can protect themselves and their patients; this is one of the few times they are willing to harm another creature. ROLES, RANKS & JOBS

divi_by_kiyukidragon-dbpyixz.png

"Below is where we chronicle the various roles and jobs that the dragons in our Haven call their own; many of them will often have more one than job. This list is ever growing as the number of dragons that call this Lair their own increases."

- The Chronicler, ThistleWhisper

The Commander
18461923p.png
Edge
SolarBlade Haven has two leaders at any given time; the first and 'physical' leader of the clan is the Commander; they are responsible for the majority of decisions regarding the clan's physical conditions, such as the health of the dragons, the state of the lair itself, any battle plans and many of tasks. The commander takes on advice from the Cardinal, and other high ranking dragons to help keep the lair in prime condition. commander_emblem_by_kiyukidragon-da4drvr.png

q2A2Fen.png

The Cardinal
18462339p.png
Naahmi
Whilst the Commander keeps a watchful eye on the physical state of the clan and lair, the cardinal is responsible for the emotional well-being of the dragons. The Cardinal works closely with the Peacekeeper in order to keep the clan as happy and stable as possible. Often the Cardinal will spend hours at a time with single dragon; using their own presence as a way to soothe their clanmates; and listen to their story, reserving judgment until they possess all the facts. cardinal_marking_by_kiyukidragon-da4eaof.png

q2A2Fen.png

PeaceKeeper's
PeaceKeeper dragons are responsible to maintaining positive and productive relations within the clan itself; working as a mediator for disputes, and as a sounding board for general discussions. These dragons are generally very calm, seeing things in a different way. They also operate as the Cardinal's eyes, seeing things that may otherwise be hidden. peacekeeper_by_kiyukidragon-da4fveq.png

WarDrake's
WarDrakes are the clans first and most powerful line of defense; not only are these dragons fully combat trained and have proven their worth in the Coliseum; but all prospective candidates must complete a trail that has been set by the elder wardrakes. The trial itself is dangerous and fraught with peril, but those that are successful gain a venerated position in the clan. WarDrake's are the only dragons that are permitted to train the Dragoons, and to enter the Coliseum, which is otherwise off limits. wardrakes_by_kiyukidragon-da4fvf0.png

The Volkhv is the spiritual dragon of the lair; fully dedicated to the Lightweaver and her ideals; often serving as her 'voice' within the clan. They are responsible for conducting the ceremony that is held when a dragon wished to serve the Deity. Works closely with the cardinal and the nestwyrm's, keeping an eye out on those who seem particular close to the path of the weaver. volkhv_by_kiyukidragon-da5v3ci.png

Hunter's
Almost all dragons assist in some form or another to help bring in supplies to the clan; however there are some dragons who seem to excel at the gathering roles. Hunter's are the first of the gathering roles; these fierce dragons bring down prey for the lair, returning with meat supplies for the clans carnivorous residents. hunter_by_kiyukidragon-da5v3an.png

Fisher's
Some gatherers choose to utilise their skills in a different way; after all, not all the dragons in the clan are meat eaters; some prefer the taste of seafood. Fisher's must learn numerous ways of luring, and actually catching the elusive fish. Some choose to build nets, other use their bodies and chase them through the waters. fisher_by_kiyukidragon-da5v39z.png

A lot of the clans resources, either what they use to build or what they trade for treasure comes from the many objects that are found either by scavenging or digging around. Dragons that become scavengers, must be able to sense and prospect various things; and must be skilled at actually gathering them, taking care not to damage the potentially valuable items. scavenger_by_kiyukidragon-da5v3bs.png

Ambassador's
If the peacekeeper is responsible for relations within the lair; then Ambassadors take responsibility for relations with other clans from all over Sornieth. There are 11 ambassadors for each of the light flights, and each individual builds and nurtures relations with other clans within their corresponding flight. Positive relations affect trade and prosperity for the clan. Whilst travelling, Ambassadors will be accompanied by a skilled combatant, usually a Wardrake when they can be spared. ambassador_by_kiyukidragon-da5v38b.png

NestWyrm's
NestWyrm's serve a multitude of purposes; the first of which is been responsible for the condition of the 'breeding' nests; afterall they never know when they will be needed. When the prospective parents ask for a nest, the NestWyrms take responsibility for the pair, answering questions, providing them with food, and even looking after the eggs should the need arise. They also help to protect the nest; and its inhabitants. NestWrym's use all of their knowledge to ensure the eggs are kept in prime condition. nestwyrm_by_kiyukidragon-da5v3ba.png

The Chronicler
20133088p.png

The chronicler is the dragon that has taken on the responsibility of recording the clan's lore, from its founding and history; as well as each individuals tales, and numerous trials that have taken place. Chronicles also take on the role of teacher with younglings, teaching them many reading and writing; they also take part in any meetings, scribbling down the minutes so as to record them. chronicler_by_kiyukidragon-da5v38m.png

q2A2Fen.png

The Curator
20132370p.png
CinderClaw
Each dragon tends to have a personal hoard, a couple of items that interest them or they collect; however, the main bulk of the clans hoard, from the food supplies and materials, to the apparel and specialty items, are kept under the close watch of the Curator. Only the leaders, the curator and the treasurer have access to the hidden vault; and the leaders rarely use it, trusting the other two to keep it in check. curator_by_kiyukidragon-da5v391.png

q2A2Fen.png

Ehicatl
Whilst hatchlings learn the basics of flying from their parents and numerous personal attempts; the Ehicatl takes on the role of Flight Master, teaching them more advanced flying skills. Though juveniles have the option of backing out of these lessons, many take them well into full growth. The Ehicatl takes into consideration each dragons specialty, choosing to focus on strength, stamina, speed or maneuverability whilst in the air. ehicatl_by_kiyukidragon-da5v39g.png

The treasure often works in close quarters with the Curator in order to keep on top of the clans treasure; or the value of the items within the hoard. The chronicler also works in conjunction with the treasurer, in order to accurately write down the amounts in the ledger. Any use of treasure must be confirmed by the treasurer, and in some cases the clan leaders; if the amount is substantial. treasurer_by_kiyukidragon-da5v3c4.png

Minstrel's
The minstrels are some of the most creative of dragons, twisting words and movements to create intricate stories; some are pure fabrication, and others have a kernel of truth. Alchemist's
The ability to change one substance to another is not a skill to be taken lightly; in fact the skill is exceptionally dangerous with recorded instances of fatalities. As such those dragons that choose to become Alchemist's must train arduously; the first task that they must complete is to travel to the 'Trading Post', and impress Baldwin enough for the Pearlcatcher to begin imparting his vast knowledge. Only when Baldwin is sure of the trainee's competency will he permit the youngster to return to the lair, with the blueprint and list of materials for the clan to build its own cauldron. These eccentric dragons continues to experiment with numerous materials; failing as often as they succeed, not that they care; after all each failure is experience for another experiment. Despite the risk, and failures, the items and materials they do produce is highly valuable; and serves as a trade commodity amongst the Haven alchemist_emblem_by_kiyukidragon-dagurzc.png

Scout's
Scouting dragons are not chosen for their stamina or even their speed, those these abilities server them well, rather scouts are chosen for their keen senses and awareness of their surroundings. Scouts spend the majority of their shift traveling around the Haven's territory; keeping an eye on everything, from food game levels, travelers etc. Some scouts are deployed purely to follow up on something, as well as recon into the lands beyond the lairs borders. Should a scout feel their is a possible threat, or an event which requires the clans immediate attention, they return to the nearest watchtower ad trigger the warning mechanism inside it. scout_emblem_by_kiyukidragon-dagus2e.png

Messengers & Couriers
Messenger dragons serve the Haven by taking messages and notes between clan members, such as from the cardinal to the scouts or from the wardrakes to the commander etc. For unofficial messages, they charge a small fee, but are willing to deliver just about any message, no matter what it contains. These individuals generally possess exceptional memory skills and are swift flyers.

Couriers are responsible for the transport of messages, parcels, goods and other items; both within the clan borders and beyond. They pride themselves on the safe delivery of their cargo, and can be paid to deliver them swiftly. Though they are trained in combat, they often have an escort if they are traveling in dangerous lands, or are carrying more valuable goods.

Architect's
Though the original lair and its dens were constructed by each individual for their own needs; the architects now take responsibility for the entire lairs construction, maintenance and expansions. They spend time with all parties responsible so they are fully aware of what is needed for that part of the lair. Individual dens are built on personal basis, with the architects help; as the architects double up as the clans construction element, drafting in help form the other roles as and when needed. They run larger decisions through the leaders and council; and are always performing structural checks on the lair as well, architect_emblem_by_kiyukidragon-dagurzi.png

Spies
Despite the clans friendly nature, they have become aware of the need to keep up to date with the goings on of the clan, and neighboring lands, as well as allies and enemies; because of this, some of the dragons of the clan serve as spies, and mostly keep their true role hidden, The dragons are adept at blending in with their surroundings, whether it be in a group of nagging dragons, or rolling around playing with babies; they listen and watch everything, even when they seem not to. spies_by_kiyukidragon-da4g84n.png

Not all pairs are of opposite genders, some dragons form bonds that are as strong, with those of the same gender; what matters the most is the feelings they have for one another. As well as the pairs, some dragons have formed triumvate, where there are three dragons in a relationship, though these are rare and considered a blessing. Not all dragons will find their mates, so some are more 'free' with their affections, or have no interest in such a bond at all. Breeding is a very private and personal time, and in many cases the other dragons have no knowledge that it has taken place until the soon to be parents approach either of the two leaders, as well as requesting the presence of a NestWyrm. Here they ask to use one of the nesting grounds, more as a formal request as well as a way to inform them that their breeding has been successful. Assisted and monitored by the NestWyrm, the soon to be parents settle on the nest, for the next several days as the eggs are laid and incubated, this serves as their lair. If for whatever reason the parents are called away, one of the NestWyrms can look after the eggs just as easily. When the NestWyrm feels the eggs beginning to hatch, they will inform the rest of the clan. Thankfully the clan remain silent ... at least until the new hatchlings have seen their parents; afterall new life is a blessing. One would liken it to the appearance of the outer walls of a coliseum. The dens themselves are not just homes to dragons, several BeastClan members and familiars also call the canyon walls home. The majority of dens and entrances are often interconnected, with some leading to the field below, though all of these entrances are hidden. Walkways are placed strategically throughout the canyons, to allow easier access to the opposite side; stairs and footholds adorn the canyon walls, making it easier for hatchlings or less flight able dragons to traverse down to the field below. Cloths, materials and trinkets often adorn the den’s in which there are inhabitants; each one is as unique as the dragons within. It's a nice sized area for a clan to only grow larger as time goes on. Within the canyon’s embrace is a hatchery; it is made up of two rooms, both of which have been made as ‘hatchling’ proof as possible; with modifications been added as and when needed. One room holds the specialized nests in which prospective parents go to lay their eggs, and to incubate them; not only is it safeguarded by the parents, but also by the NestWyrm’s as well. More nests are been designed and constructed as the clan grows larger. Nest space is limited though and with several days of incubation; dragons must choose carefully if they wish to raise a family. The nest room is the ‘creche’, and often holds the newborns; after they have hatched; they and their parents are moved to this room, this allows the NestWyrm’s to tend to the nests; cleaning the area so that other prospective parents can come to nest. Just after hatchlings, the gender, species, lineage and colors are all recorded, and a health check is conducted to make sure the hatchling is healthy. Once all the ‘paperwork’ has been completed, parents take their youngster to their own den. The crèche also serves as a nursery, allowing parents to ‘drop’ off their young if they are needed by the clan; the room has all the essentials to help the hatchlings to walk and see, and to play. Various deity doll’s can be seen scattered about, as well as other plushies. Whilst parents are permitted to visit through the day; the size of the room (and all the hatchlings), and corresponding chaos results in parents not been permitted to stay; instead the smaller NestWyrm’s look after the little ones. The hatchery is a big part of the clan, always falling under the watchful gaze of the WarDrakes; it is well suited for the dragons within the Haven. Located further into the canyon walls; but within a small distance of the hatchery is the library. This room is vast; by far the largest par of the entire lair. Its' shelves are tall and stretch farther than one can look up, hundreds of books lay upon them; as well as individual trinkets that the chronicler collects. No candles are permitted within the library itself; instead the glowing pocked baubles are more commonly used to light the area. Every time a new piece of the clan’s history is recorded; another book written by the chronicler herself will appear. Dragons are allowed to come and go as they please to read these books; but, they are never allowed to leave the confines of the library with them. After all, those books are an important part of the clan’s history. The hoard is located in a part of the canyon walls, with only one tunnel leading to it; though it is wide enough to allow dragons through with the supplies they are given. The hoard itself is separated into individual spaces; materials and trinkets are kept in one area; apparel within another; chests are stacked up near the back. Goo, Ooze, Sludge, Muck and Slime are kept away from everything, in a sealed chest; which is only opened when the clan needs to use the cauldron. Food storage is also kept here; however, it has a lock only to keep sneaky dragons from trying to have a midnight snack. The vault is hidden deep within the lair; located in a safe place where none will think to look, many pass by its hidden entrance without knowing that it is there. Beyond the entrance, for those that know about it, lies a specialized lock; which was created by the finest craft-dragons, the vault door and lock are of the finest quality. Very few dragons know the combination needed to get into the vault; keeping its contents safe from shifty dragons. Inside the vault, all the gold and gems that is earned by the dragons is stored; as well as precious items, such as the Solar Blades, unhatched eggs and other valuables. Solarblade Haven is a beautiful territory that is well taken care of by the many dragons of the clan. It is a home, a place to raise a family, to train to simply be; allowing for the dragons within it to communicate clearly with one another. Solarblade Haven is a safe place for the dragons that call it home. TERRITORY & LORE

divi_by_kiyukidragon-dbpyixz.png

“Home, a place in which a dragon can rest and recover; a place in which they can find sanctuary, a family, a job and many other things. Somewhere you can go when you have nothing else, and know that you will be welcome.”

- The Chronicler, ThistleWhisper

solarblade_something_by_kiyukidragon-dbogtk3.png

”To the center of the Sunbeam Ruin’s,
Beneath the bright rays of the Lightweaver,
Lies the SolarBlade Haven,
A refuge for any dragon that seeks it.
The Sundial Terrace lies to the north,
The Mirrorlight Promenade dwells in the north west,
The Hewn City lurks to the south,
And the Beacon of the Radiant Eye rises from the far east.”

The wind blows softly, driving the seeds of the dandelions throughout the field that lay between two canyons. The light casts highlights over these seeds causing them to look like glitter as they seem to dance across the immense field. Running through the middle of the field as a river; its waters crystal clear and gleaming with the suns radiance. Dragons, big and small, are walking around as they chatter and talk to one another; and the hatchlings can be seen chasing the seeds across the green grass. Some dragons head toward the canyons. WarDrakes. The clans most formidable fighters; fully combat trained and ready to protect the clan at any cost to themselves. Yet, it is not just the fact that they are combat trained; WarDrakes must also take on a Trial, a way for the other WarDrakes to see their determination, their skills and abilities; and most of all, their state of mind in the harshest of environments, and most stressful of situations.

The Trial of Illumination is a task that any Gladiator or Sorcerer must pass in order to become a WarDrake; each candidate has 2 attempts at the trial, though the older WarDrakes always make sure that they have had time to fully recover from their previous attempt. Even should they fail, dragons who have attempted it are seen in a higher regard; after all the clan is fully aware on how difficult it is.

The trial technically starts from the instant the candidate expresses an interest in becoming a WarDrake, though this isn’t as well known to the others. They are asked random questions about the clan, combat, relation’s with other clans, the occasional scenario and many others, all seemingly unlinked. Once these are done, they are informed of the Task that they must complete in the Trial; testing everything that the dragon has ever learned; speed, agility, strength, smarts, decision making, judgment etc.

At first glance the Trial seems easy enough

The Task
To retrieve the Solar Blades, a rare and powerful light relic from deep within the Hewn City.

Solar Blades light_2.png
A ruined, skeletal landscape of shattered structures, gripped by a shade that boggles even the Light dragonflight's most studious archaeologists. In this broken city lay secrets that are too mysterious to unearth, and even the bravest dragons are given pause when approaching its haunted outskirts.

However, it isn’t quite that simple; as within the whole trial are numerous other factors which they must deal with.
 • The Solar Blade’s are hidden deep within the city; guarded by one of the WarDrakes. Clues as to its location are scattered about.
 • There are Beast Clans in the area, some are allies and may have smaller tasks for the candidate to complete, rewards are often small, some food, a clue to the relic, and even to a companion.
 • Others Beast Clans are enemies and the candidate must make decisions in regards to actions. Should they attack, gather recon, or leave alone, later they must explain their response to the WarDrakes.
 • As well as the dangers of the Beast Clans, there is also the dangers of the land itself; the darkness that defies the Lightweavers power, the ghosts that haunt its streets and the mysterious relics of times long gone.
 • Obstacles, both natural and dragon formed lay scattered around, testing the dragons constantly, broken building crumbling, the floor caving in are just some of them.
 • There is also an ‘enemy’ dragon, another WarDrake that tests the candidate, leaping out from hidden places, diving from the sky above, are just a few.
 • The Solar Blades guardian must be ‘defeated’ or taken out of the equation, so that the candidate can retrieve the item.
 • The Solar Blades must be returned to the Clan’s Vault, deep within the canyon walls, at any time they may be attacked.

The Trial ends when the candidate returns the Relic to the Vault, passing the rare item to the commander, or should the candidate forfeit, badly wounded due to circumstances, the WarDrake’s feel that are in peril and if the candidate should die. At all times, the candidate is watched over by one of the WarDrake’s, and also by the lairs beast clan allies; incase they get into any trouble.

For the most part, retrieving the blades signals that the candidate was successful; howover, the wardrakes occasionally take into consideration certain decisions, if they decided to not help their allies, or attack a large group. In these cases, the candidates are pulled to one side and ‘retake’ that part of the trial.

Yet as time has passed, markings appear, new things are crafted; and even peculiarities have arisen in the bloodlines of dragons.” - The Chronicler, ThistleWhisper Genes Genes are something that all dragons possess, though for the most part they remain dormant within the dragons themselves; they affect the primary (main body), secondary (wings/fins/mane/frills) and tertiary (extra) parts of the dragons hide. Dragons can only have 1 dominant gene active within that part of the dragons hide. The ‘Basic’ gene is the default gene of a dragon; it has been theorized that the other genes are mutations to the basic gene in response outside stimuli that has been successfully passed on with each new generation. There are 3 ways in which a dragon genes may become active; within breeding, environmental stimuli and the Gene scrolls. Like colors, hatchlings genes are dependent on the parents; though where colors can be between any of the parents range, genes are either one or the other; however, some genes are more dominant than others, such as Tiger or Stripes. The have a greater chance of been passed on the offspring. Some genes become active due to active stimuli; many clans having records of basic gened dragons developing current/ripple patterns when close to running water, or bar/daub for those that live deep in the forests. Gene Scroll’s are enchanted items that trigger its corresponding gene within a dragon into dominance; giving the dragon that gene. These scrolls are expensive and only have the one use. Breedchanges There are currently 13 known dragon species found on Sornieth; each with its own history of how the breed came to be. The dragons of the present are descendents of the ancients, so the species is passed through breeding; much like with the genes, some breeds are more common than others. All species are able to breed with one another, though offspring of two different breeds will either be one or the other. Located throughout the world are magical scrolls, enchanted by the deity’s themselves, that effectively contain the ‘blueprints’ for the dragon many species; these BreedChange scrolls allow for a dragon from one species to ‘evolve’ into another. When these are used, the dragon often goes into hiding until the process is complete; as they are very vulnerable at this point; and quite clumsy in their new bodies as they get used to the differences. Though they are a different species, they often retain some characteristics of their former breed, such as a guardian that became a fae; will often find something to guard. With the occasional exception, there is no restriction of what the dragons can wear. Sometimes, more than one dragon may be after the same piece of apparel, when this happens the clan will often purchase another to keep the peace, or allow the dragons to talk it out. Some apparel is off limits to the majority of the clan:

Emblems – Given only to the clans ambassadors; they generally only wear them during missions so as to show their rank. The majority of these are in fact beneficial to the dragon. These mutations can occur across all species, and are generalized; though each species is affected in a slightly different way; the mutations only show up once the dragon has reached its juvenile stage. It is heredity, with each individual mutation having a 10% chance of been passed on through breeding. Occasionally, these mutations appear in response to extreme stimuli, though few of these have been recorded. Recorded Mutations:

Deepsea Bulb’s - Originally discovered on dragons native to the water and shadow flights; this mutation has now been sighted on dragons from all regions. It generates a gentle colored light, which can be used to light up darker places such as caves or deep underwater, and also acts as a lure for certain prey.
Antler’s/Round Horn’s – Seen on many dragons, this mutation causes dragons to develop horns or antlers that their species does not normally have. Some dragons speculate it evolved due to dragons ‘butting’ heads, but it has yet to be proven.
Wooly Antennae – Often referred to a ‘moth’ characteristic, this mutation is a small, colorful pair of antennae that grows along a dragons head; these are highly sensitive to vibrations. Also, these are soft and fluffy and hatchlings love them. Origins are currently unknown.
Wooly Coats/Tails – The denizens of the Southern Icefield were the original specimens to grow the coats and tails; these fluffy characteristics providing extra warmth against the freezing temperatures.
Feathered Wings – This mutation shows itself in different ways amongst dragons, some species develop a second pair of wings completely, such as nocturnes and guardians. Others, such as skydancers develop a second layer of feathers on their wings. This mutation seems to give dragons more maneuverability whilst in the air.
Tail Feathers – Much like the feathered wings, the tail feathers increases the dragons maneuverability in flight, but replaces the majority of their own tail features.
Glowing Clawtips - This mutation was only discovered after Baldwin introduced his cauldrons to the numerous clans, taking on apprentices all over the world. Seemingly a reaction to the glowing ‘stuff’ in the cauldron itself; the dragons claws can take on a colorful glow. The color is dependent on exactly what items were currently brewing.
Misc – Several other mutations have also been sighted, these have originated in the festivals and are considered by many as a blessing by their deities.
Hybrids The dragons of Sornieth breed true; a hatchling born to a guardian and ridgeback will always be one or the other, however hybrid hatchlings often have a quirk or two that is more common to the other parents breed. Such as a mirror’s ability to sense thermal signatures; a spirals endless energy, a nocturnes habit of mimicking etc.

DRAGON CHARACTERISTICS

divi_by_kiyukidragon-dbpyixz.png

“Originally, all dragons had no markings, no clothes or armor to adorn themselves with. Yet as time has passed, markings appear, new things are crafted; and even peculiarities have arisen in the bloodlines of dragons.”

- The Chronicler, ThistleWhisper

Genes
Genes are something that all dragons possess, though for the most part they remain dormant within the dragons themselves; they affect the primary (main body), secondary (wings/fins/mane/frills) and tertiary (extra) parts of the dragons hide.

Breedchanges
There are currently 13 known dragon species found on Sornieth; each with its own history of how the breed came to be.
