I'll also be including stories of specific members or events in the future. Also, a lot of dragons still don't have their specific, bare bones lore in place, so thank you in advance for your patience. I have a lot of dragons, and I need a lot of dedicated time to implement their lore. I DO want comments about who specifically should get stories on here, since I want others to be just as excited as I am about my clan. THE OBSERVATORY

Since The Observatory is a towering building on the Focal Point, the normal floral and fauna of the Starfall Isles can't normally penetrate it, but sometimes these familiars and their artifacts can wander inside due to their constant circling around the structure:

CLAN WICKED WINGS This part is taken from my profile page:
Hidden away in The Observatory of the Starfall Isles lies an ancient clan called Wicked Wings. Despite the rather ominous sounding name, the clan keeps to themselves and had a humble beginning. From two Faes orphaned at birth and an adopted baby Tundra, the clan has grown to accept dragons from all over Sornieth, their lair open to those on the outskirts of dragon society looking to start a new and quiet life in the dark halls of The Observatory. While those who find their way to the clan or were born into it are a spacey bunch like many Arcane dragons, their clan has an unusually ordered structured. Those of the Birb Council are the main leaders, either decorated in Birdskulls, Crowns, or Bannered Armor and act as ambassadors and delegates in communication with other clans. There's the Merchant Class who don colored bandanas and are in charge of all business affairs. With that there's the Alchemy Crew who foresee all alchemical experiments, and the Magic Society who often work hand in hand with them. The Knightly Order acts as official messengers and scouts for the Wicked Wings, and are usually the first response team when trouble is amiss. Recently included is also the Healer's Collective, a small group of dragons dedicated to keeping their clan healthy and safe. Among all of these groups are clan warriors, and all dragons in the lair contribute in any way they can. They aren't a mighty clan, but the Wicked Wings are surely a happy and content one. At least, it seemed that way for quite some time. There came a time when the clan experienced a lack of growth. Few dragons left the clan to either fight for the Arcanist or simply explore the world of Sornieth, and it made many uneasy and tense to be in close quarters with the same dragons for so long. No longer content with the secluded life Wicked Wings offered, many long standing members of the clan fled in droves to search for a better life. The current clan leader, Josa, became incredibly distressed. Many of those who left were dragons she grew up with or were family, and she wondered if it was her fault due to the way she ran the clan. Her fears turned out to be all for naught, because as quickly as old dragons left the lair new, younger dragons from all over Sornieth came to have Wicked Wings be their forever homes, hearing about the clan's reputation from afar. These dragons began to be known as the New Order and are slowly shaping how the Wicked Wings conduct themselves. While the clan as a whole doesn't know just how different the clan will become because of the Order, they are glad that so many new, excited members want to bring the clan to greatness.
Clan Wicked Wings has carved out a lair space for themselves on the 7th floor of The Observatory. There is a nearby clan, but Wicked Wings doesn't really commune with them much since they too are a clan that keeps to themselves. Still, two members of the Knightly Order guard the entrance to the lair at all times in case other clans or rogue dragons try to stumble in. Now, for the different groups within the clan. First, the Three Founders are: CLAN WICKED WINGS

tumblr_inline_o5tcuflmK11qa2x52_250.png

This part is taken from my profile page:

Quote:

First, the Three Founders are:

She found herself in an abandoned nest in the blustery Crystalspine Reaches. The poor Fae hatchling waited three days in a half-starved state (for there had been some food left behind) before she abandoned her nest in search of sustenance. It wasn't until she met Jared not long after that she found out that he too had been born in similar conditions. From that point on the two navigated the Reaches, eventually finding a great place to lay down a nest. Not two days after laying 3 eggs did Alanna and Jared discover a Lightning Egg out while gathering. Remembering their own lonely births, they took in the egg, and within the day a dark colored Tundra hatchling was born. They named him Caleb, and that night while the hatchling slept against her, Alanna had the beginnings of a dream, one she shared to Jared. "Would it not be grand to have a mighty clan of our own? One where dragons of all walks of life can be banded together, and never have to be alone," Alanna said. Jared managed a smile. "Yes, I like the idea of that, but I fear it won't be for quite some time." Alanna, though, did not give up on the dream, and told Jared not to either. As time went on, they found dragons far from their original homes, all looking for a place to settle down. From two adult Faes, three Fae hatchlings, and a Tundra the clan grew and grew, requiring them to constantly migrate for space. During that time of growth, a lot changed for the three founders, more than them eventually getting to move into The Observatory. They each found a role to play in the clan they named Wicked Wings. For a long time Alanna served as the clan's leader, but realized early on that she didn't have a stomach for it. What with the constant demands and needs she personally had to oversee, she felt too intrusive on her other clan members, and wanted more freedom herself. So when she could, Alanna passed on the role to young Josa, and took up a warrior's life instead. It felt more fulfilling of a role, especially in the early days of the clan. She wanted to do everything in her power to preserve the way of life they had built. Jared, on the other hand, found a much different calling. He discovered young in his adult dragon life that he would have incredibly vivid, prophetic dreams as he slept, and after a time, when he was awake as well. He became the clan's first Seer, aiding them countless times when his kind of insight was needed. Many at first were skeptical, but when they began to notice just how accurate and detailed his visions were, the doubts faded away. Very few in the clan would now do anything rashly before consulting Jared first. As for Caleb, his path became a fusion of the two's before him. Caleb was charismatic and kind, if not a bit quiet at times, and with that calming temperament he was chosen to become the clan's Lightning Representative who could negotiate with Lightning clans and offer insight on their matters. But Caleb wasn't content with just sitting idly all day in the Birb Council; he wanted what he thought would be a fulfilling life. He became the founder of the Knightly Order and earned the title of Forest Knight because of how deftly he tended to navigate forest-like terrain and find resources in them. This allowed him to be a close-to-home protector for the clan, as well as getting to explore Sornieth to his heart's content. While the three went down different paths, they never forget how hard they fought to bring their clan to the thriving state it's in now. They cherish every moment, for without their determination to see the clan do well, it never would have taken off the Reaches.

She'd wake up in the lair space she shared with her Apprentices, check that all the allotted food for the day was handed out to the clan, and see if the many Familiars under their protection had gifts for them. Then, like she did every day, she'd sit down at the head of the Birb Council and attend to what matters were the most pressing for the clan. Because of how many members of the Council also had other roles in the clan, most couldn’t always attend the meetings in the room illuminated by glow mushrooms, an anomaly in the Observatory. Josa should have known something was wrong though when less than half of their members sat on the Council that day, even with the addition of the Warrior Seer, Zamurz, who didn’t usually sit in on their meetings. She still felt odd around the Guardian who was the father of her late mate, especially when he showed little to no emotion at his son's passing. Deep down she knew he was hurting, but it didn't make sense to her why he would bottle up his emotions while everyone else had openly grieved and showed no shame for it. "What a surprise to see you with us today, Zamurz," Josa said, staring at him from across the Council circle. Zamurz grunted. "Well, I needed an audience with you. Once again, there are dragons in our clan who plan to leave to the service of the Arcanist." Madrigal, one of the two Nocturne females who were Josa's Apprentices, let out a small moan of despair. "I thought we were done with this for some time." "Apparently we are not. Did you see visions of this, Zamurz, or did these dragons tell you themselves?" Kuvia, one of their female Pearlcatcher diplomats, asked. "A mixture of both. You will not like who is leaving," Zamurz said, directing the last part at Josa. "Who is it now?" Josa asked wearily. "Karou, Morgana, Twiga, Nimaine, and Moas." Murmurs of distress rippled through the Council, while Josa instantly felt her heart clench, her claws gripping her luminescent pearl tighter to her chest. Now it made sense why both Twiga and Moas were among those absent on the Council. At hearing that another one of her relatives was leaving, this time her dear Tundra brother Moas, she fought to keep her composure. "When are they expected to leave?" Nimue, Josa's other Apprentice, asked. Zamurz shrugged. "That I cannot say, but probably soon." Josa knew more people would volunteer to be in the service of the Arcanist because Jared told her of his own visions in private, but it didn't make it any easier to hear. A part of her had already learned to accept the losses, but with her own brother and last remaining sibling now leaving, the only members of her family left in the clan would be her father Besam, her granddaughter Tauriel, and great-granddaughter Orkadriel. She sat through the rest of the Council session in a daze, barely listening to the dragons that talked around her. When they finally broke for the day Josa was the first to leave, intending to head straight back to her lair space to mourn in peace. On the way there, though, she bumped into the one dragon she still felt uncertain about having in the clan. "You're looking especially serious today, Clan Leader," Darras said, raising an eyebrow at her. Josa stopped mid-flight at seeing the platinum crystal Skydancer, and grimaced. "If I look serious to you, it is because I have heard serious news." "When does the infamous Birb Council not have serious news to deliver?" Darras asked, snorting. Josa frowned. “I’m sorry if our dealings seem too dry for you, but our organization keeps this clan afloat.” “Yeah, I’ll give you that,” Darras said. “And by the way, you still haven’t said what role in the clan you would like to have,” Josa said, descending so she could talk easier with him. Darras made a face at that. “Do I need to have one?” “Well, everyone helps out in some way, but for someone who specifically sought out this clan, you don’t seem to be jumping at the chance to contribute yourself,” Josa explained. “Maybe I’m just not ready to have to sacrifice my whole self for this clan,” Darras said, glaring at her. Josa took a step back at that, pulling her pearl closer to herself. “And what is that supposed to mean?” “You. You bear your soul not just on your pearl, but all the time so everyone knows exactly how you feel. Excuse my rudeness, but I sometimes overhear your council meetings. Everyone can tell just how much something affects you, especially all the bad news lately. Doesn’t it drain you to give so much of yourself to everyone?” Josa shrank further back, but fixed Darras with a glare. “Well excuse me that I don’t like to keep myself bottled up all the time, standing tall and aloof like I see you do. I’m the Clan Leader, this is what I signed up for, knowing full well what it would entail. Yes, sometimes I am very emotionally, mentally, and physically tired, but I love Clan Wicked Wings, and I intend to always do what I can. Besides, I’m not as open as I used to be. Maybe I have been overwhelmed in some respects.” Darras just stared at her for the longest time without saying anything, then shook his head. “You’re not as guarded as you think, but who I am to say so. Well Clan Leader, when you decide to take a break from your slow personal destruction, I’ll show you what it’s like to be a dragon that’s not constantly giving themself anxiety because of other dragons’ actions. You have to accept that dragons will do what they do, and while it sucks for a little while, you have to do what’s going to make you feel better in the end before you burn out like a depleted sacridite.” Josa decided not to reply, and simply watched him go off down the passage. As he left, she contemplated his words. There did ring some truth in what he said, but she knew who she was and how she acted. But, she did admit that the idea of a small vacation did sound like something to seriously think about.
Josa

Every day began the same for Josa.

Once again, there are dragons in our clan who plan to leave to the service of the Arcanist."

She had to blink a couple of times to make sure she wasn't seeing things, and scrambled upwards when it was undeniably her. "Who got injured?" Simmia asked. Aisa snorted. "No one right now, luckily. But I'm not here because of our Collective, I'm here on Council business." Simmia frowned. "I don't understand." Aisa sighed. "Josa wants to speak with you. Well, maybe 'speak' is too weak of a word for what she wants, but still, you've been summoned." "Why does Josa want Simmia?" Tirry asked. Simmia jumped, turning back towards where her other roommates usually slept. Tirry, a fellow Coatl like herself, was her only roommate still around. He stretched out his beautiful emerald wings and yawned, while Aisa let out another snort. "It's none of your business, Tirry, because you haven't been summoned." "So? The only time Simmia's had an audience with the Council was when she got elected leader of the Healer's Collective. This must be huge," Tirry said. "Maybe, but again, it's none of your business. Are you ready to go, Simmia?" "I guess. Lead the way," was all Simmia said in reply. She gave Tirry an apologetic look, then followed Aisa out of their lair space. The two walked in silence towards the Council chamber, while Simmia contemplated what Josa could want with her. She was glad it had been Aisa to summon her, even though the two still had a budding friendship that Simmia barely understood. When Aisa, who was already the Red Birb of the Council, had first asked Simmia if she could be a part of the newly formed Collective, Simmia couldn't believe it. Of course, she was more than happy to let her, but she hadn't thought Aisa had an interest in the healing arts. Still, it was nice to have a member who was also on the Council to navigate the politics Simmia didn't have the patience to understand. The two stopped in front of the entrance to the Council chamber, then Aisa turned to her. "I'll let them know you're here," Aisa said. Simmia nodded, and watched as Aisa disappeared into the chamber. A couple of minutes passed, then Aisa reappeared and gestured her inside. Simmia followed her, and soon the two were dumped out into the huge glow mushroom filled chamber of the Council. A good chunk of the Council members were there, but not all of them, since many had other roles in the clan that kept them from attending every meeting. Josa though, sat at the head spot as usual, her two female Nocturne Apprentices on either side of her. Madrigal sat on her right, and Nimue on her left. Simmia knew the three were softies, but with the serious mood everyone seemed to be in and eerie glow from the mushrooms, she felt nerves building up inside her. "Welcome, Simmia," Josa said. "I don't want to take up much of your time, especially because of what I'm going to ask, so I'll get to the point, okay?" "Okay," Simmia replied. "Good. As you know, not too long ago I appointed you leader of the Healer's Collective, the group you even founded, and that we desperately needed. Ever since then, we have seen a lot of improvements in our clan members well beings, but I know our resources are still lacking, as you well know," Josa said. "Yes, I can't deny that." "So I want to fix that, and not have to wait until another terrible illness strikes a clan member to get what we may need. Now, I know that some of the rarest, but best herbs and plants for healing can be found in the Shrieking Wilds. What we're asking, Simmia, is if you can go on a mission there and retrieve as many plants as you think you can carry back so that we could start growing them here?" Simmia froze, simply staring up at Josa. She had thought about going on expeditions herself, but to hear Josa ask for one gave her mixed feelings. On the one hand she was excited, since it meant the clan members trusted her to gather important clan resources, but on the other hand, she was nervous. What had kept Simmia from asking for an expedition herself was the knowledge that it would mean leaving the Starfall Isles. When she came to the islands as a hatchling from the Southern Ice Fields, she barely remembered the long journey, but since joining the clan, she had not left the Isles once. "I uh, I've actually been meaning to go on an expedition for quite some time," Simmia said after a while. "I'll admit though, I do not know the way, and am afraid of getting lost." "Oh, of course I wouldn't ask you to go alone!" Josa said, laughing. "I was thinking of a companion, probably a clan member who has been that way before." "What about a friend?" a voice said behind her. That time all the members of the Council and Simmia turned towards the chamber entrance, and saw Tirry standing there, simply staring up at Josa. "Tirry! What are you doing? I told you this was none of your business!" Aisa hissed. "I'm sorry, but I couldn't help it," he said. "And I can't un-hear what I already have. So, I want to request that I be Simmia's companion." "You?" Lexa, the Coatl Head Alchemist, interrupted. "You are supposed to be with the other alchemists right now." Tirry winced. "Yes, I know, but I figured this was important." "And your duties to me and the others isn't?" "It is, but I will be the first to admit that I am not in a high position among our own, nor do I currently have any projects to be working on, so I would like to go with her." Josa grinned. "I wouldn't sell yourself short, Tirry, but since you seem eager, I'm going to let you." "Seriously?" Aisa said. "Yes. If Simmia is okay with it." All eyes turned to Simmia, who stood by nervously, glancing between Tirry and Josa. Simmia valued her friendship with Tirry highly, and she had wanted someone she could trust with her on the journey, but Tirry had a similar background to her. Could he really make such a journey? But she saw how determined he was, a playful smile on his face even, that Simmia finally nodded. "Yes, I want Tirry with me on this journey." "Then it's settled," Josa said. "I want the two of you to leave in a couple of days time, so gather what you need. We'll all be counting on you two." The Tale of Tirry and Simmia Part 1

She had to blink a couple of times to make sure she wasn't seeing things, and scrambled upwards when it was undeniably her.

While many weren't as suspicious of him as they once were, some still had misgivings about the young Skydancer. That, and with the recent (and quite dramatic) appearance of runes on his body, everything he thought he knew had been called into question. What could the runes possibly mean? What, pray tell, did they even say? He couldn't read runes to save his life. His restlessness caused him to roam the tunnels of the clan's lair, trying to think out the answer to his problems. As he walked in the dimly lit tunnels, he saw someone in the distance he thought he vaguely recognized. "Hail, brother!" Darras called out. The figure turned at the sound of his voice, and Darras' suspicions were confirmed. It was the young Shadow Nocturne he had heard a lot about recently, but hadn't tried to talk to yet. He was handsome by Nocturne standards, with a cream colored body, shimmery blackberry wings, and a faint strawberry belly that glowed even in the dark. "Hail," the Nocturne said in reply. "You're Darras, right?" "Yes, I'm surprised you've heard of me," Darras said. "Well, there aren't many of us originally from the Tangled Woods." "Yeah, but I'm sorry, I don't know your name. I have heard of you, though." The Nocturne simply smiled. "My name is Brashen." "Ah yes, that's right. Where were you from originally?" "In the Tangled Woods? My old clan lived closest to the Shadowbinder, near the Forum of the Obscured Crescent." Darras whistled. "Your old clan must have been a big deal to have the honor to live so close to her." Brashen sighed. "Yeah, they were. I'm actually the son of the clan leader. I could have had it made, but I wanted to make my own way through Sorneith. I didn't want greatness handed down to me simply because of my birth. I want to prove my worth, even though I don't know how I will do so." Darras turned away from him at that. "You and me both." "You too were the son of a clan leader?" "No, no. I too don't know where my place in this world is. If it's to be with this clan until the end of my days, or if I should drift away somewhere else." Brashen smiled. "I'm sure you'll figure it out, but honestly? I don't see how this clan wouldn't be a good place to spend the rest of your days. You may belong here already more than you realize." Darras didn't know how to reply to that, so he said nothing. How could he tell him that ever since he left the Tangled Wood he felt lost? He tried his best not to show it, but it was the truth. All he felt like was a drifter. Maybe that's what he was destined to be. His doubts must have shown on his face, because Brashen gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, and whispered "Just think about it. I must be off now, but let's talk again soon." Darras nodded, and watched as the young Nocturne left. He stood there silently in the passage, feeling just as confused as before, but comforted in the fact that he wasn't the only one unsure of himself. Then, as he was about to continue on through the passage, he felt a tap on his shoulder. It startled him, making him spin around and raise his wings in defense. Standing there was the clan leader, Josa, who clutched her pearl tightly to her chest. She smiled at Darras, the first genuine smile he thought he got from her, and he lowered his wings. "I think I wouldn't mind that chance at that break you mentioned," Josa said, staring up at him. Darras stared at her in disbelief, but when she just continued to stare at him, he grinned. Things were about to get interesting for him.

"No, no. I too don't know where my place in this world is. If it's to be with this clan until the end of my days, or if I should drift away somewhere else."

Brashen smiled. "I'm sure you'll figure it out, but honestly? I don't see how this clan wouldn't be a good place to spend the rest of your days. You may belong here already more than you realize."

Darras didn't know how to reply to that, so he said nothing.

I must be off now, but let's talk again soon."

Darras nodded, and watched as the young Nocturne left.
