-The stonewash blue general of the Tempest Order lay with her belly pressed close against the sand. She was covered in mud, a tactic of disguise in these sandy areas where blue and black were easily visible. All four eyes narrowed across Carrion Canyon, two eyes detecting movement and the other two detecting the heat signatures of three young, very young dragons, perhaps still hatchlings or otherwise just the size of large fae dragons. They seemed to be within hearing distance of each other, yet none of the three had noticed the other two. The cacti, rock formations, and random scatterings of bones seemed to obscure their vision or at least distract them enough that they were utterly oblivious to each other. They would soon meet though, and Athanasia was intent to watch. They are all so young. I wonder what happened to their clans... perhaps they were wiped out by the same disease from which we suffer. She squinted at them. One was a Mirror, another a Wildclaw, and finally, an Imperial. A strange group to be sure.

-The voice of a cloaked dragon beside sounded, hushed. "Are we not going to retrieve them? The Order needs more fighters, does it not?"

-"Always." Athanasia responded quietly. "But we cannot take in these young ones. Disease runs rampant in the hatchlings and young adults alike. These three are safer separated from the Order. For now."
-There was a silence.

-"General Athanasia... they'll never survive on their own."

-"They might. I did. My brothers and I did with little to no influence from other clans until well into adulthood. This land is dangerous, covered in perils that these three must endure together. They must learn to fight. To protect each other. To teach each other what they know. We'll let one of the scouts document their progress. Once they have proven themselves worthy, perhaps even set up their own clan, we will welcome them with open wings."

-"And if one dies?"

-The general's electric cyan gaze narrowed at the three as they drew closer together. They would meet any minute now.
"Then that will be an important lesson."

This is a Pinkerlocke based on the rules in this thread.
Rules_zpsi0vjbhzi.png
Basic rules:

* A death in the coliseum = that dragon must be exalted:
---MODIFICATION: If a dragon faints in the coliseum, I will flip the first coin. Heads = I have a chance at saving the dragon. Tails = The dragon is pronounced dead and exalted. If the first coin is heads, I'll flip a second coin. Heads = The dragon is saved by a near miracle. I shouldn't be so careless next time. Tails = Despite the best efforts of the others, the dragon cannot be saved. Exalt.
* All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
* There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense. Same goes for familiars.
* All nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!

* If a dragon reaches level 25, it is accepted into the clan and joins the ranks of your main lair.

Drops of Fate:
Food: Coliseum time!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches

Medium Mode: All coliseum challengers are chosen with a random number generator, but the venue chosen will be (my choice) the same as the highest level dragon or a tier lower. If I level up while in an area, I can still stay there for the whole day. I can quick my battle streak at any time to regen health, and flee from a battle if I need to.

Materials and trinkets: Flex your creative muscles!

Materials: Do some writing for your nuzlocke. How does your new nuzlocke clan change and develop? What are your dragons like personality-wise? How do they get along? How do they die? Is there an antagonist in this nuzlocke, or are they merely struggling against the forces of nature? Write dragon bios! Make a blog, or a thread for your challenge in the creative forums! Write short stories or paragraphs, or add to one big one adventure!

Trinkets: Do some art for your nuzlocke! Digital or traditional, use whatever medium feels best for you. Draw deaths. Draw dragons. Draw humanized versions of your dragons (if that's your sort of thing). Draw familiars and dragons together. It doesn't have to be that good or elaborate. If you make a nuzlocke thread, post your art there.

Rare drops: Wildcards
Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-13) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.)

1. Fae
2. Guardian
3. Mirror
4. Pearlcatcher
5. Ridgeback
6. Tundra
7. Spiral
8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer

Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. The dragons you pick are up to you. You can also change one of the genes on a dragon, or use a scatterscroll if you are rich and crazy.

Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it. This is in keeping with the origional Nuzlocke thread's rule, because I really like it.

Battle items: Uh-oh!!!

Flip a coin.
Heads = DEATH STREAK
Tails = Nothing happens

DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones.
Hardmode Rules:
-You must select coliseum challengers in your lair using a random number generator. Then, select the coliseum arena that corresponds to the highest level dragon of that group. If your dragons level up while in an area, you can still stay there for the whole day.

Starting out:
Using the method I detailed in the "familiar" possibility above, obtain a small number of dragons (I suggest 2 or 3). If they already have names, keep the name! If not, name them whatever you like. The challenge starts once all of the dragons, if they are hatchlings, grow into adulthood.

Losing:
If your dragon count falls to zero you have a few options
1. Declare the challenge a "loss" and give up
2. Wait for Pinkerton to drop a familiar
3. Just say "welp" and buy another dragon from the AH without waiting for Pinkerton because you lack patience.

Day 0 Pinkerton: [item=Searing Jackalope Pelt] Silarruk stood atop a small rock, surveying the vast emptiness of desert before her with a sense of determined hopefulness, and yet fear. Her gaze swept across the rock formations and strange prickle-plants, noting the canyon and great metal claws that stretched up from the ground beyond it, either attracting or emmitting lightning, she couldn’t tell from this distance. The longer she looked, the more her hope faded, but to give up was to admit defeat, and the young Wildclaw was anything but willing to do that. Her parents were out there. Somewhere. She was sure of it. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of sand and low shrubbery crunching beneath a stranger’s feet, and for a few seconds, she had a flitting thought that this might be her parents, or perhaps one of her siblings. She turned quickly, but the site that greeted her was only a midnight ripple Mirror male with bright, lemon shimmering wings and a seafoam underbelly. His four eyes blinked out of sync with each other as they stared at each other for a few seconds. When this passed, the Mirror, apparently growing disinterested, merely adjusted his course around the rock and began walking again. “Hey! Wait!” Silarruk trotted after him. “Are you lost too? I’m looking for my parents.” The Mirror didn’t say anything, just kept walking with an ever-so-slightly bothered look on his face. Silarruk watched him, “I heard Mirrors travel in packs. Where’s your pack?” Again, the Mirror didn’t answer. “Please, can you at least tell me if you saw a fire flight clan pass through here? Or even just my parents? They look like me, but a little bigger?” At this, the Mirror whipped around in his tracks. He was bigger than her. Not by much, but he was, and he was obviously trying to use this to his advantage. “Do I really look like the kind of Mirror that cares enough to help you? I’m hungry. I’m going to learn how to hunt. I’m not here to deal with your problems and I’m not going to pick up any tagalongs. You’re not a packmate and you’re not food. I have no need or use for you. So shoo.” The Wildclaw snorted angrily. “Excuse me? I-” “You’re excused.” The Mirror cut her off. Silarruk was itching to pick a fight with the male, and was just about to when another dragon, or hatchling rather, stumbled out from the brush and rock, drawing both of their attentions away from each other. The male was a patchy pink and orange on his body and wings respectively, with thoughtful pinkish-magenta eyes met their gazes. “Who are you?” Silarruk asked, backing up a step just in case things got messy and she needed a running start at either the Mirror or the Imperial. The Imperial looked at them both before focusing on Silarruk herself. “Lost.” “Your name is Lost?” The Mirror snorted, “Your parents must’ve loved you dearly.” Silarruk hit him with her wing. "Lost is a fine name." “No... I mean, I am lost. My clan members all fell horribly sick. I had a theory as to why, and my parents told me I should pursue it. I was moving along steadily, but last night there was a beautiful meteor shower, and I was looking for where one of them fell. Now I’m somewhere in the desert.” He paused, “Do either of you know how to get back to the Focal Point?” Silarruk shook her head. “You’re wasting your time.” The Mirror snarled, “If your parents were sick, then they’re dead by now. Along with anyone else you left behind.” “Don’t say that!” Silarruk hissed, “My parents were sick too, but they were fine-” “When they left you to fend for yourself because they didn’t want you to catch their illness as well?” The male asked sarcastically. “I’ve seen what the sickness does... my pack was fifty some strong... and now there’s only me.” He turned and began walking, causing the other two hatchlings to follow behind him. “That’s why I’m starting over. By myself. Life goes on.” “Wouldn’t it be a better idea if we all stuck together?” The Imperial asked, walking in front of the Mirror with his superior stride and size, stopping him. “There’s protection in numbers. Perhaps not from disease, but from wild beasts, at least. If we part here, we’ll never see the next sunrise. Together, we stand a chance.” There was a silence, and Silarruk paused to glance at the Mirror. He didn’t look happy, but he did look like he might consider it. Looking back to the strangely colored Imperial, she said, “Okay. But I’m only staying until I find my parents.” The Mirror looked like he was about to say something, but the Imperial cut him off. “Okay. And I’ll be leaving once I know the way back home. Until then though, my name is Aileron. You?” “Silarruk. You can just call me Ruk if you want though.” She turned her gaze to the Mirror as he debated. Finally he spoke. “Whatever. Sure. But only until I find a new Mirror pack.” He paused. “My name’s Sybalt. I wish I could say it was nice to meet you all, but I don’t like to lie.”

Day 1 Pinkerton: [item=Fractured Tusk] The sun rose on the first day all the hatchlings had woken alone. Far from their homes, each couldn't help but feel incredibly lost. The day previous, Aileron and Silarruk had taken the time to dig out a fair sized hole beneath a boulder while Sybalt had gone hunting. Silarruk was almost sure that the Mirror wouldn't come back, but he actually surprised her when he showed up just as the moon began to rise. He had scavenged a little, and had brought back his findings and his catch from the hunt. Neither was much to speak of, but all three of the dragons were grateful. But now, it was the following day, and as the three hatchlings awoke, the first thought on all of their minds was voiced by none other than Sybalt. "I'm so thirsty... and hungry too. I haven't seen a glimpse of a river in as far as we've traveled." "I didn't see anything either. Just the canyon, and maybe a storm... Although I wouldn't suggest waiting for the rain. We don't know how long that'll be." Silarruk sighed. The Imperial raised his head to look out the opening of the hole, into the light of day. "I wonder if there's a reliable way to predict storms..." He paused, but then suggested, "Perhaps if we watch one of the other animals get its water? Surely they don't all flock to the storms to do that." Sybalt rose to his feet, stretching and walking out as he said, "You two can do that. I, on the other hand, am going to hunt. And maybe scavenge around a bit to see if I can find anything." He paused, but then taunted, Maybe even Silarruk's family." "They're out there!" Silarruk called after him, but he didn't respond, eventually disappearing behind a rock formation. The Wildclaw and the Imperial exited the den together, setting off to look for whatever it was the animals here drank. It took a while before they were able to find anything conclusive, causing them to spend most of their day parched, attempting to sneakily follow birds. Eventually though, they caught sight of a strange beast they had never seen before. It was furred, carrying a staff and equipped with a scarf and a few bags. A bag on its back looked rather full. As the two hatchlings watched, pressed against the sandy terrain and hopefully hidden from view, the Longneck stuck something in a cactus. It looked about to do something with it when it noticed the two hatchlings. With a glance, the beast must've believed the parents were near, for it ran before they could say anything. Quietly, the two approached the cactus, looking to each other. Suddenly, the thing the beast had stuck in the cactus began to drip water. Careful not to hurt themselves on the cactus, they took turns sipping their most precious drink until it dripped no more. "Perhaps we should take it?" Aileron suggested. "It isn't stealing if the beast left it here... we'll return it if it comes back for it!" Silarruk frowned, but she worried that it would be their only source of water. She couldn't let that opportunity pass them by. "Okay. But we will return it if the beast comes back for it." Aileron chuckled, "We've got water. Not too bad for a couple of lost hatchlings?" "Yeah... Hah! Just wait to see the look on Sybalt's face when we come back with water! Well... this thing, but water capabilities nonetheless." Aileron nodded, "I hope he gets home when we do though. He has to be so thirsty by now." They returned to their makeshift home triumphant, and when Sybalt returned (with a small amount of food, enough for them to share and feel almost like they'd eaten something) and they figured out how to stick the device into the cactus and let the male drink. He was sparingly grateful to them, but grateful all the same. They all curled up in their makeshift den, dragging a few dead plants over the entrance just in case. The day had been a good one. Silarruk only wished she could say the same with certainty about the days that would soon follow.
